PPP: Coons 50, O’Whackado 34

Filed in National by on September 15, 2010

Public Policy Polling has released their new general election poll following Christine O’Donnell’s suprise victory last night. Chris Coons holds a solid double digit lead over Christine, 50% to 34%. If Castle had won last night, he would be leading Coons right now, 45% to 35%, a result that showed Castle damaged from the nasty primary fight but still leading.

The worst news of the poll for O’Donnell’s cult followers is her favorability rating. It is 29%. Her unfavorability rating is a devastating and unelectable 50%!

Moderate Republicans will be voting for Coons by a margin of 54 to 31. Indeed, Coons takes a Castle like 25% of the total Republican vote. The shoe is on the other foot. O’Donnell is now their Karen Hartley Nagle.

And it gets worse:

Only 31% of voters in the state think O’Donnell’s fit to hold public office while 49% think that she is not. Even with Republicans in the state less than half at 48% believe that she is. […] Only 33% of independents and 16% of Democrats believe O’Donnell’s fit.

You know what I like about that? 3% of Christine’s voters in this poll think she is unqualifed but are voting for her anyway.

He already is. He has been on air all week.

  2. Venus says:

Now why would you insult Karen Hartley Nagle that way?

  3. Yeah, how many of those undecideds are going O’Donnell’s way?

Coons needs to get on the air right away with positive, feelgood bio & issue spots.

  4. Delaware Dem says:

You’re right Venus. I apologize. KHN is much more intelligent and qualified than O’Donnell.

  5. Venus says:

Atta boy. But I know you were blinded by numbers.

    More results from this polls:

Markell has a 50% approval rating, as opposed to 32% who disapprove. Obama has a 46% approval rating as opposed to 48% who disapprove.

9% think O’Donnell is too liberal. Who the hell are those people? Seriously. They must be quarantined immediately for scientific study.

Palin’s endorsement does wonders in a Republican primary, but is a horrible death knell in the general, as 52% of Delaware voters say Palin’s endorsement and involvement in this race make them less likely to support O’Donnell.

Only 15% of the sample consider themselves Teabaggers.

  7. Anon says:

I got calls from friends in PA and NY last night saying they are donating to Chris and that they are terrified of this woman being one of a hundred making important decisions of this country.

  8. Delbert says:

And meanwhile Bo Biden is gnashing his teeth and ripping his hair out for not throwing his hat in for what would have been an easy one. Keep an eye on the downstate polls through November, my Liberal friends. We’re the ones who sent Castle packing, and we have plenty of women voters who cross the party line at the polls. Who is Mr. Coons, by the way?

  9. MJ says:

What is your news source Rooch?

  10. Rooch says:

The news reported O’Donnell received a million dollars in donations overnight. I could think of better ways to spend that money . . .

  11. Jason330 says:

I’m not a fan of this poll bcause it gives all the opportunity to show momentum to ODonnell. I’m utterly convinced that people will vote for the candidate that looks like a winner and will stay away in droves for the candidate that appears to be a loser. We have become a shallow, stupid country and state.

  12. Delbert says:

O’Donnell is looking like the winner now. She’s been on the front page of USA Today the past two days as the Party crasher poised to take Joe Biden’s old seat. Who in hell know Chris Coons outside of upper New Castle County? You’d better wake up and smell the coffee.

  13. A. Price says:

well, luckily people who dont live in Delaware dont need to know who Chris Coons is. (they will)
Christine O’Donnell is the new Sarah Palin. She has a shoddy history that we aren’t allowed to ask about because she is a woman…. sorry ladies, but the right wing has TOTALLY hijacked the idea if fairness and are now exploiting it to use as shelter for unqualified idiots. Moreover she is exactly what our failure of a media loves. They dont actually care about the outcome of the election as it relates to the consequences for the country… (well, Faux News does but that is why they are humping her so hard) The MSM only cares about ratings, and let’s face it. A hot born-again virgin with the support of Saint Sarah gets MUCH more ratings than a bald guy from Delaware….. at least Biden TRIED with the implants.
I have it from quite a few Republican friends they will actually be supporting Coons. I will pound pavement and phones for Chris, but deep down im not worried.
USA today can plaster their flavor of the week on their pages all they want. on nov 3rd, she is is just another also also also ran…. like when that porn star almost beat Ahnold.

  14. Delbert says:

All I can say is Chris Coons had better get his butt down to Kent & Sussex Counties and do some serious baby kissing, because nobody down here knows who he is to this date. And our voters are the ones who swung the Primaries away from both Castle and Rollins. What you have to understand is that despite her right-to-life stance, the women are going to come out for O’Donnell in droves; Democrat & GOP alike. Poor Bo, he was too scared of Castle and too stupid to realize the old guy was teatering, to throw in his hat for his father’s old seat. He’s beating his head against the wall for it now.

  15. Delaware Dem says:

Delbert, obviously you have not been paying attention because Chris has been knocking on doors all over Kent and Sussex and has attended many events downstate. You are only speaking only in untrue generalizations so that you can trash Coons for being unknown downstate. Did you ever ask yourself if you and the people you know are just not bright enough to remember Coons’ name?
