Always the Bully

Filed in National by on August 31, 2010

As I begin writing this, I get a CNN alert that Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska will concede to her Teabagger opponent, mortgage defaulter Joe Miller in the Republican Senate primary. Geek says in two weeks our own Teabagger experience with the wondrous Christine O’Donnell will be over. I pray not that my learned friend is wrong, if only for more moments like this:

State GOP staffer John Hawley and Evan Queitsch, a supporter of U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell got into a scuffle after a Founder’s Values group candidate forum Monday night. During the event, Hawley had been standing in the back of the room video taping the candidates speaking. Hawley has traveled to candidate forums across the state during the campaign to record speakers. Afterward, Hawley remained in the auditorium filming O’Donnell as she talked to attendees. When O’Donnell went to leave and Hawley followed, the trouble started. [..]

Queitsch was part of a group of four O’Donnell staff members that had circled around the candidate to keep Hawley and a member of the press from getting near her. When O’Donnell walked out the door, the staffers blocked the entrance. Republican Party Chairman Tom Ross said Queitsch tried to block Hawley from leaving the room. He said Hawley was pushed into the wall. At one point in the video, Hawley can be heard saying “no need to be violent.”

Yes, that is EvanQ, a frequent wingnut bully commentator here at Delaware Liberal who most recently bullied Dave Burris and Delaware Tomorrow into hiatus for daring to write about the rank incompetence, lies and disqualifications of one Christine O’Donnell. To be sure, there are no victims here, as both Hawley and Evan Q are Republican thugs, although my sympathy, if I possess any, would tend towards Hawley for the mere reason that O’Donnell was ducking questions like most, if not all, Teabagger candidates do (i.e. Rand Paul in Kentucky and Sharon Angle in Nevada). Here is the video of the incident:

  1. This fits with the O’Donnell strategy of having her supporters annoy & harass people. Seriously, what is it with pols who don’t want to be filmed? Do they live in the 21st century.

  2. anonone says:

Part of the delicious irony is that the News Journal post was written by Ginger Gibson, the reporter who has become Christine’s media nemesis by exposing her myriad of lies.

  3. jpconnorjr says:

wow that was a whole lot of nothing:) i am real glad I only invested 1:01 in the video

  4. jason330 says:

Everything supports the O’Donnell peeps world view that they are enduring persecution for a Godly cause.

  5. iraq vet says:

I knew evan (or duck as we called him) he is no thug he does have a habit of thinking he is. Good for them showing how childish they are

  6. liberalgeek says:

Evan claims that the guy hit him in the head. While that may be true, it is certainly not what incited the incident. It is pretty clear that Evan attempted to block the lens and the videographer. What would have been interesting would have been a view of the guy outflanking Evan and watching Evan running after him putting his hands over the lens. And, of course, Evan saying “Sorry, am I in your way? I apologize.” is just another demonstration of the disconnect between what Christine and her supporters say, and what they do.

    Douchebags, every one of them.

  7. MJ says:

yeah, but we still need to root for Elaine Benes to win the primary. Think of this triumvarite – Angle, Miller & O’Donnell. It would be the death knell of the GOP.

  8. Jason330 says:

Never underestimate the Democrats ability to keep the GOP in the game. I want O’whackjob to lose the primary by a 99% margin.

  9. reis says:

Did the car Chrissy rode off in have out-of-state tags?

  10. cassandra m says:

They really are afraid of this chick speaking on her own, aren’t they?

Chrissy isn’t going to do any better in this world if she has to hide behind the local thuggish douchebags. Successful women never need the protection of men with no clue.

  11. Joe Cass says:

Easy now. There’s always room for thugs in public discourse. Personally I wouldn’t go after a limp wrist with a camera, but that little darlin’ Evan isn’t about to take up a real challenge.

  12. Yogie says:

O’Donnell may be the scariest candidate in America right now. She makes Palin look moderate.

  13. liberalgeek says:

Oh my, that National Mall video shows the Evan that we know and love. What a punk.

  14. cassandra m says:

Somebody should ask that punk what he is trying to hide. It’s dumb as dirt to be on the NATIONAL MALL (a completely public area) filming a commercial (probably without permits) and belligerently objecting to someone else filming you working. In public.

What idiots they are, really. But then, they are supporting Chrissy so we already knew that.

  15. pandora says:

Evan is a little man who thinks he’s tough. Just wait until he picks on the wrong person with his in-your-face behavior. He must be a joy to work with.

  16. Mark H says:

Makes me want to take the video cam to Christine’s next rally/etc. Anyone know if she is going to be anywhere near Kent County over the next few days?

  17. MJ says:

Let me check the emails I get from her campaign and I’ll post whatever events they are advertising.

And Pandora, Evan should be glad it wasn’t me he was bullying – he’d still be feeling the pain.

  18. anon says:

Looks like you need at least two people with cameras – one to take pictures of Christine, and another to take pictures of her people trying to stop you. Then the thugs would have to split up.

  19. anon says:

Hmmm… what would solve this problem is a shoulder-mounted boom for the camera that holds the camera up and over your head, while holding the viewscreen and controls in front of you. I wonder if such a thing exists.

  20. dv says:

    this stuff is classic.

  21. anon says:

Who’s the big lunk wearing the Best Buy uniform? If he put his chest in my face and advanced on me like that, he’d have a little problem.

  22. Tyrone Biggums says:

Evan would’ve had a real problem if he’d blocked MY exit. His internet tough guy routine doesn’t play in the real world. He’s lucky he didn’t leave the venue with a broken nose & a severely bruised ego.
