This “news” story is pathetic in terms of journalism. It is interesting to see all the media outlets run with this story. Early this morning it was, “Ted Stevens may have been in a plane that crashed.” How bad is that? Think about it this way, “Ted Stevens may not have been in a plane that crashed.

It has just been reported by AP and WaPo that Sen. Stevens died in the plane crash. My condolences to his family.

Yes, it’s been confirmed that Sen. Stevens has died. Former NASA administrator Sean O’Keefe was also on the flight, no word yet on his fate. The reports say that of 9 people aboard the flight, 4 survived.

anyone know whose plane he was riding in?
I think it was a corporate jet for someone.
How fitting I guess

On August 9, 2010 a de Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter owned by Alaska telecommunications company GCI crashed near Aleknagik and Dillingham.

got it from crooks and liar:
I saw someone at another site say he wouldn’t have died if he had been in jail…sorta true. But he also wouldn’t have died if he hadn’t sold his soul to corporate interests and thought that he deserved to live like a king.
I’ll be the first to say it…I could care less about him and could care less that he’s gone. He died riding a corporate jet…irony at it’s best.

dv. you already were the first to say it. C’mon people, we demanded some neutral time when Ted Kennedy died and got all offended when a teabagger made a nasty comment…. same with Sen Bryd. A human died a pretty terrible death. Besides, there is a MUCH worse former Alaska pol still drawing breath that would be better used on algae.
Comment by Cyclone Ranger on 10 August 2010 at 2:47 pm:
Ted can get out of anything. My sympathies to his family, whether is is alive or dead.
Comment by Unstable Isotope on 10 August 2010 at 3:00 pm:
Just seeing now that Sean O’Keefe and his son were 2 of the survivors.
Comment by MJ on 10 August 2010 at 3:07 pm:
DV – really out of line. There’s a time and a place for your comments, neither of which is now.
Comment by dv on 10 August 2010 at 3:20 pm:
doesn’t change the fact that it’s ironic
Comment by a.price on 10 August 2010 at 3:22 pm:
it is ironic…. just give it at least a week, dude.

we all mourn in different ways I guess. Me…I mourn for those I feel are worthy of it. The rest, especially the ones that helped wreck my country…not so much
Comment by MJ on 10 August 2010 at 3:34 pm:
DV – no one’s asking your to mourn. Just be a bit respectful. When there’s a thread about his career, by all means, jump in with both feet and tell the world what you thought about Sen. Stevens.
Comment by MJ on 10 August 2010 at 3:37 pm:
But everyone can jump on St. Sarah for twittering her condolences. WTF?
Comment by anon on 10 August 2010 at 3:48 pm:
Don’t speak ill of the dead until grass grows again on the grave.
Dick Cheney already died several times though, so he’s fair game.
Comment by delacrat on 10 August 2010 at 4:24 pm:
MJ,
If you want to mourn, be “a bit respectful” or acknowledge your “condolences to the family” of a right-wing republican crook, there are crooked, right-wing republican websites that are more appropriate for such sentiments.
Comment by delacrat on 10 August 2010 at 4:26 pm:
And do you really think his family gives a f___ about your condolences?
Comment by MJ on 10 August 2010 at 5:33 pm:
Delacrap, you’re are such an asshole. You’re a purist, leftist teabagger. If it makes you feel any better, I’ll be sure to come and dance on your grave when you pass away.
Comment by anonone on 10 August 2010 at 5:52 pm:
I’ll care as much about Stevens as he did about all the families and children he killed in the needless and stupid wars that he supported. May he rest in anguish.
Comment by a.price on 10 August 2010 at 6:00 pm:
oh good, they’re both here. now the REAL party can start. you ready, MJ?
ISRAEL ISRAEL ISRAEL!!!! (sorry everyone)
Comment by Cyclone Ranger on 10 August 2010 at 7:04 pm:
Yeah, former NASA Admin now defense contractor.O’Keefe is effectively the chief honcho of EADS’ effort to win a $35-billion U.S. Air Force contract for aerial refueling tankers.
Think he’ll get the contract? His competitor is Boeing.
