Lindsey Graham Fights for Terrorists’ Right to Buy Guns

There has been a lot of talk recently about what sorts of rights terrorists, or suspected terrorists, should have. Should they have the right to a fair trial? Should they have the right to protection from cruel and unusual punishment? Should they have the right to be informed of their rights? There has even been talk [...]

The Changing Face Of Suburbia

I’m not sure what to make of this:
White flight? In a reversal, America’s suburbs are now more likely to be home to minorities, the poor and a rapidly growing older population as many younger, educated whites move to cities for jobs and shorter commutes.
An analysis of 2000-2008 census data by the Brookings Institution highlights the [...]

Our Liberal Media

Most of us on the left realize that despite the conventional wisdom that the media is “liberal” it generally leans to the right. It’s not unusual to see stories percolate in the right and then go straight into the mainstream media (look at “Obama’s Katrina” for a good example). Meteor Blades at Daily [...]

Looks Like Justice Kagan

The Associated Press is reporting that President Obama will announce the nomination of Solicitor General Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court at 10AM Monday morning, replacing the retiring John Paul Stevens.  Kagan will be the third woman on the Supreme Court, and only the fourth overall.

So-Called Professionals Joke About Co-Worker’s Penis Size

Do you remember how we were told that we shouldn’t worry about the full-body screening equipment because it didn’t show that much detail? We were also told that the people manning the equipment were professionals and the pictures would be discarded. Perhaps not so much…
Rolando Negrin, a TSA employee at Miami International Airport, [...]

Morning Round Em Up

Good morning Delaware Liberals. Deadlock in the UK and chaos on Wall Street. At least the Phillies won, yet again.

Crybaby Cathcart

What is it about Republicans that makes them think that when they lose election after election, and are the minority in both Houses of the General Assembly, that they are still entitled to write all legislation or at the very least have legislation crafted the way they see fit.

Governor-General James T. Kirk?

We are unusual here in the United States in that our head of state and our head of government are the same person: President Barack H. Obama. In the United Kingdom, Israel, Canada, Germany, and many places across the globe, the roles are divided, with the Head of State representing the whole country [...]

You Can’t Make this Stuff Up.

If the Teabaggers / Birthers did not exist, only a drugged out Hollywood writer could dream them up, and then no one would buy the script since it would be too fictional, even for Hollywood. And you wonder why I have absolutely NO respect for anyone in anyway associated with the Teabaggers / Birthers, and you also wonder why I say they are all just two bit terrorists in waiting. Check this out.

More Like This Please

It must be nice to have a functioning media in a state. Look what happened in Illinois:
In the race for President Obama’s old Senate seat, Republican candidate Mark Kirk has spent the past couple weeks hammering Democrat Alexi Giannoulias over the failure of his family’s Broadway Bank. On Monday, Ed Marshall of the local [...]

Shameless Self-Promotion: Concert Edition

Now that I’ve ‘outed’ myself on the Internets, I can let you know that, in another life, I’m a volunteer concert promoter/producer for the Arden Concert Gild. We have two shows coming up this month, one of which I’m producing. I’d love for DL readers to come to one or both and, as an incentive, [...]

Delaware General Assembly Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show: Thurs., May 6, 2010

Not much to report b/c, as I pointed out last week, committee reports won’t get read into the record until after the General Assembly reconvenes today. So, we don’t know which bills were released from committee. Except…some of them appear on today’s agendas, so they have obviously cleared committee. Notable items from yesterday’s Session Activity [...]

Carney at Cape Henlopen to Rally Against Our Shore Oil Drilling

If you are downstate and have the time today, you may want to stop by Cape Henlopen State Park, specifically The Bluff in the Fort Miles Historical Area, where Democratic Congressional Candidate John Carney, local elected officials, and leaders from the environmental and business communities will gather to express their opposition to drilling for oil [...]

Shaking Things Up in Sussex

We mentioned last week that Eric “St. Bodie Girl” Bodenweiser filed to run against Sen. Joe Booth in the Confederate Party primary for the 19th Senate district seat. Bodie has told anyone who will listen to him (and that seems to be the Klan and the Delaware 9/12 “patriots”), that he plans to spend [...]
