Carney Demands Cancellation of All East Coast Drilling

Filed in National by on May 27, 2010

John Carney press release:

“Today, the President is planning to announce a six-month moratorium on new deepwater oil drilling leases, as well as the cancellation of some of the new leases he proposed on March 31st. While I support the suspension, we cannot rest until the plan to drill off of Delaware and the rest of the East Coast is abandoned completely, and the preservation of Delaware’s precious environment and our state’s economy that depends on it, is assured.”

Excellent. John Carney should also as demand a six month moratorium on operation of any oil drilling platform operating off the shores of the United States so they can be inspected for safety and compliance with all regulations.
