President Reagan Too Busy to Honor Tradition

President George H.W. Bush Too Busy to Honor Tradition.

President George W. Bush Too Busy to Honor Tradition.

All of the above statements are headlines that Frank Knotts of Delaware Politics could have used in his latest screed, because they are as equally true as the headline he chose to use. Frank is upset that President Obama will honor our nation’s veterans on Memorial Day at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Illinois, because he is returning home to Chicago this weekend; instead of attending the services at the Arlington National Cemetery.

I await Frank’s coming condemnations of President Reagan and both Presidents Bush, for each of them did not speak at Arlington on Memorial Day. President Reagan missed the Arlington ceremonies in 1983, Bush in 1992, and Junior in 2007.

Frank, thy name is Hypocrite.

Ed. Note, I originally thought David Anderson was the author of the screed on DP. You’ll forgive me, as I saw the DP piece (of s….) on Google Reader, and since they do not show authors there, and since all conservatives read from the same script, it is difficult to tell them apart just by reading sometimes.

stupid libtard cant tell the difference between Veterans Day and Memorial Day.

WASHINGTON, May 28, 2007 – Evoking the memories of citizens who died defending America throughout history and urging a new generation to safeguard freedoms for which previous generations made sacrifices, President Bush commemorated Memorial Day at Arlington National Cemetery here today.

Ah, yes, you are right about 2007. But I am right about 1983 and 1992, and forever more, President Reagan and President George H.W. Bush, according to your standards, must be known as a traitors to this country and an enemy to the military due to their horrible and disgusting failure to be in Arlington.

God, the things you conservtards care about. The President MUST be in Arlinton, Virginia on Memorial Day, but who cares about lying to start a war in which the soldiers in the cemetery died.

  4. M. McKain says:

It was 2002. Yes, he’s stupid because of a typo, but the teabagger types are smart even though they fail to recognize their own hypocracy. CLEARLY that is the case.

  5. I get blamed for everything, don’t I. I plead not guilty your honor by reason of authorship. In my blogmate’s defense, It is interesting that your defense seems to fall a little short. Not only Did W and Clinton make every year, but right now we are at war. That makes it a little different.

I don’t have a big problem as long as he goes somewhere. His duties as head of state are covered as well in Ill. After all Arlington has no special significance worth interrupting a three day weekend. Does it?

  6. Delaware Dem says:

Actually, David, W did not make it in 2002. He was in Normandy, which, I will grant you, is a significant place for a President to be in honoring our soldiers. But since the sin is not being specifically at ARLINGTON, which is all you can say about President Obama in this instance, then Bush is as guilty as Obama in dishonoring the troops. Remember now, I am using your standards here.

And in using your standards, how dare you say that Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery is not a significant place for the President of the United States to be on Memorial Day? You dishonor the men and women buried in that cemetery, who gave their lives for this country, and you dishonor President Lincoln.

David, that’s really polite of you. I would have said: “Hey, dipshit, I didn’t write that. Frank Knotts did. Can’t you bleeping read?”

  9. anon says:

I didn’t write that. Frank Knotts did.

The Frank Knotts Defense has no known weaknesses. Case dismissed.

I’m getting ready to blame you, David, for that no-nothing post one of your contributors put up on barbering and cosmetology.

I guess I shouldn’t hold my breath waiting for anyone to address the points I made.

pan, i didnt address you point, but i DID write my own cute little scene. Check it out before the anti-free speech sensors take it down. i call it “Dicky Drills Your Mom” (it is safe for work)

  13. Delaware Dem says:

Thanks anon. I will know what to look for next time.

I saw it, a. Very clever.

  15. Apology accepted, I don’t care where the President acknowleges the sacrifice of our troops as long as he does. I understand Frank’s concern. Too many Americans see Memorial Day as just a chance to get away. They forget about the sacrifice made on our behalf. I think he was concerned the wrong message was being sent.

The only time Reagan and Bush 43 missed where when they were out of country. Even then Bush went to Normandy so I don’t see the charge of hypocrisy. I do agree that the memorial in IL is also worthy and Arlington will be well represented with the VP. It is no big deal on either side.

  16. Delaware Dem says:

I don’t see where concern over how Americans observe Memorial Day licenses Frank Knotts to falsely attack the President of the United States for something that at least three recent Republican Presidents have done.

If Frank is concerned, write about the concern. But he chose to attack Obama instead, and now I could give a rats’ @ss about Frank’s concern.

Who cares what Frank thinks, he’s a clueless ass.
