Tornoe’s Toon: McNabb Gets the Boot

Donovan Mcnabb trade Eagles Redskins

As a Buffalo Bills fan (start laughing now) I was hoping that the Bills would muster up enough strength to trade for McNabb. I don’t understand the logic in trading your franchise player to a divisional opponent while simultaneously giving the keys to the car to a guy who’s only driven it twice.

One thing to consider: McNabb is 34. John Elway was 34 when Shanahan took over the Denver Broncos. How’d that work out?

  1. Delaware Dem says:

Comparing Donovan McNabb to John Elway should be a crime. John Elway could at least complete a 2 minute drill, and did so spectacularly and often during his storied career. McNabb has done it only once, back in the 2009 NFC Championship Game, in 11 years.

  2. Joanne Christian says:

Rob–too funny. I’m a Buffalo fan too–and every year have to ask my sister if they’re still a franchise.

  3. Scott P says:

Alls I can say is, God help us in the highly unlikely event that the Skins actually do somehow win a Super Bowl in the next few years (not impossible — think the Giants a few years back)….the Linc might get burned down, or at least the suicide hotlines will be backed up.

  4. I thought McNabb was fairly expensive for the payroll and had some injury problems?

  5. Scott P says:

I have a relative in the Buffalo area. Those people are nutso sports fans, I’ll tell you what. I guess that’s waht happens when you only have two teams (pro, not Bisons), and both get frustratingly close to winning but can’t. I think “Brett Hull” is still a swear word up there.

  6. liberalgeek says:

Brett Hull? Scott Norwood is a euphemism for erectile dysfunction up there.

  7. I used to live in Buffalo and they have a sense of doom about sports. They don’t usually say “Scott Norwood” they say “wide right.”

  8. Jason330 says:

If comparing mcnabb to Elway was a crime, Mcnabb would be serving a life sentence for his first Redskins press conference.

Prediction: McNabb plays just wellenough in DC to make the playoffs. Prediction 2: Andy Reid gets a plate of cheese fries at Applebees.

  9. anonone says:

Jason’s predictions now mean that the Redskins are going to win the Superbowl and Andy Reid is going to go on Slimfast.

  10. John Manifold says:

Bill Kashatus has it about right:

Most accomplished professional QB in city’s history

  11. anonone says:

Poor guy, only made $115 million here and the mean old rotten fans hurt his feelings.

  12. MJ says:

I’m a huge Broncos fan (having grown up in the shadows of Mile High Stadium) and McNabb is no Elway. I still like Elway, even though he is a conservative Republican.

  13. Having had the privilege of watching Kolb play college ball down here in Houston, I think that this is a good move.

  14. Geezer says:

Kolb seems more a Montana type than McNabb ever did, but is his arm strong enough to make the long, lateral throws Reid favors? And at his below-average NFL QB height, can he see enough to read defenses?

  15. Mark H says:

“And at his below-average NFL QB height, can he see enough to read defenses”

Geezer, Kolb is taller than Drew Brees and I think he did OK for himself 🙂
