GOP Donors Are Suckers

Filed in National by on March 29, 2010

If Republican donors were mad about the Palin family clothes grab on donor’s dimes, I wonder how they’ll feel about this:

The Daily Caller examines the Republican National Committee’s FEC filings, and discovers a few things that are not likely to go over well with GOP donors. Such as:

Once on the ground, FEC filings suggest, Steele travels in style. A February RNC trip to California, for example, included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.

Man,I want to coat my nostrils with Vicks vap-o-rub,take a couple of Dramamines and party with this guy! As long as it’s on his dime.

Please let someone have video of this. Please let someone have video of this. Please let someone have video of this. (Steele at the club, not the dancers. This is the internet, after all. That kind of stuff’s not allowed.) And would this now be an appropriate thread in which to state that I’ve always thought “Michael Steele” would be a great porn name? And thank you, GOP, for Mr. Steele.

  3. GOP donors were not mad about some money spent for clothing for Governor Palin. The most essential part of marketing a campaign is the portrayal of the Candidate. The one that should have been upset was the store. Why get so much stuff in all sizes when you could have simply asked clothing sizes? 95% of it goes back to the store and they took weeks to do it. I have a problem with the disrespect by the staff to someone’s business. Don’t tie up 100k of campaign money and someone’s inventory needlessly.

Remember though they are still suckers:

Sen. David Vitter, R-La., raised $731,000 during the first quarter of the year and had $2.5 million in his re-election fund for 2010, according to campaign finance filings placed online Tuesday by the Federal Election Commission.

Money well spent by the party of family values. I thought they didn’t like lesbians.

  6. Simulated is o.k. I guess.

  7. MJ says:

I’ve heard that straight guys get excited over lesbians. David – care to educate us not in the know?

  8. cassandra_m says:

I guess G-d doesn’t like me enough for someone, somewhere to have video of Steele and Vitter partying it up at this joint.

  9. Jason330 says:

    Buh bye Mike.

  10. Brooke says:

Just to be clear, straight guys like the GOP do NOT like lesbians. They like enslaved women pretending to be what they think lesbians ought to resemble. There’s substantial hostility even within the sex-worker community to women who “seem to be enjoying” lesbian scenes too much.

It surprises me not at all that Steele goes for this. The Mandingo club must have been closed for renovation. Man has ISSUES.

  11. liberalgeek says:

For the ladies that are disappointed that there is no video of this incident… People with cameras at these places are usually crushed by bodyguards at the first sign, Michael Steele or no Michael Steele.

  12. Exactly Brooke. The GOP has no love for Rachel Maddow or Rosie O’Donnell.

  13. I just wonder if Steele was taking GOP donors to the club since he wrote it off as a business expense.

  14. Scott P says:

There’s also a “Polling” joke in there somewhere that I just can’t quite find.

  15. anonone says:

I only wish it had been Palin.

  16. anon says:

I always used to cringe whenever jason330 would drop in one of his Republican/sex dungeon jokes. No more… God I was so naive.

  17. Scott P says:

I’ll also take this moment to make the totally irrelevant comment that I don’t like that thumbnail pic of Steele because it looks like he’s holding my dog. I don’t know where his hands have been.

  18. We should make a thumbnail out of some of those crazy Steele/intern pics.

  19. Jason330 says:

Lg, spoken like a guy with a shelf full of crushed cameras. Anon, validation!!

  20. bamboozer says:

The Mondo Bondage Light Is Lit! But I would suggest the real suckers are the ones who give money to Tea Party Candidates running as a third party. Still……. Remeber the good ol’ days when Steele was going to be an “asset” to the RNC?

  21. liberalgeek says:

Jason – I have no idea what you are talking about… 🙂

  22. Truth Teller says:

Why is this a surprise the Repuk’s do this all the time just look at Henney taken money given for the wives and children of dead and injured servicemen and useing it on his life style talk about a scum bag yet very little from the MSM

  23. cassandra_m says:

And there’s more — the RNC is raising money for Sean Hannity now.

So it’s true then, huh, the Republican Party does really work for FOX News?

  24. Steele’s now blaming a staffer for spending the money at the sex club. What kind of ship are you running if someone can just go drop $2000 at a sex club without the Chairman noticing?

  25. MJ says:

Steele likes girls who have back. Guess the interns at the RNC didn’t float his boat, which is why he was supposedly at the booby bar.

  26. missundaztood says:

“Steele likes girls who have back. Guess the interns at the RNC didn’t float his boat, which is why he was supposedly at the booby bar.”

Is that comment about “girls who have back” based on Steele being black, or are you basing it on some other information that doesn’t smack of racism?

  27. MJ says:

Other information from friends of mine who worked for him when he was LG in MD. It has nothing to do with him being Black, Polka-dotted, yellow-bellied or anything else. You need to stop reading things that aren’t there.

  28. anonone says:

GOP donors are suckers, sure. But how many here are still attending or contributing to the Catholic Church?

  29. Free Radical says:

So the closest Republicans can get to bipartisanship is a bi party….

  30. A. Nony Moose says:

Unfortunately, it was not Steele who ran up that bill — and the guy who did was not authorized to do so, and will be reimbursing the GOP for it.

  31. A. Nony Moose says:

By the way — I cannot help but detect a whiff of racism in these comments.

  32. Von Cracker says:

thanks for your concern. But after reading too many of your comments over the past few weeks, I’m certain to say that your assessment abilities really aren’t the best.

  33. Von Cracker says:

funny if it was a staffer anyway…shows that the lackey has the same ability to resist temptations as his masters.

  34. MJ says:

I wonder why we all overlooked the fact that “The Daily Caller” is the conservative website founded by Tucker Carlson.

  35. I assume it’s some Republicans wanting to get rid of Michael Steele. The data came from the FEC filing. It’s real. That’s why it’s spin, spin, spin until they’re dizzy.

  36. MJ says:

One quote I love – “Steele uses private planes when commercial flights are unavailable…” I’ve never known someone who is paying full fare to be denied a seat on a plane. Guess if it isn’t in first class, he doesn’t fly commercial.

  37. Michael Steele is using his stint as RNC Chair to make himself rich. One thing that was pointed out today is that the “burn rate” for RNC donations is very high. They are basically spending all the money they are taking in. A significant portion of this money is going to pay for limos, private planes and fancy hotel rooms for Steele. It doesn’t matter, really, that Steele didn’t go to the sex club. He approved the expense. It was relatively small compared to Steele’s own spending so perhaps it did’t raise any eyebrows.

  38. Jason330 says:

“An Orange County Republican blog reports that the RNC booze and bondage party at Voyeurs was actually a big event to lure youthful donors.”

Sickeningly they call these younger GOP nutbags “Young Eagles.” Family values!!!

  39. I love this part too – the RNC bought $60K worth of “office supplies” at a place named Congressional Liquors. The RNC is really party central, isn’t it?

  40. MJ says:

Steele had financial problems before he was elected LG in MD – he had a financial problems with his private consulting firm and was staring foreclosure in the face before some rich GOPer’s bailed him out. He’s always been very good at using other people’s money.
