For Your Amusement – If You Have A Sense Of Humor

This made me laugh.

And before someone has a fit,  let me say… Yeah, I know I’m burning and I’m A-Okay with that.

Friday Open Thread

It’s Friday of one of the strangest work weeks I’ve ever had. Two snowstorms in one week with two driving bans. It’s hard to say TGIF since I only had to go to work 3 days this week. Today’s open thread is a video-rich open thread. Enjoy!
Both Stephen Colbert and Jon [...]

Snomaggedon: Critique The Governor’s Performance

There’s been a lot of chatter on Twitter and elsewhere about the Governor’s performance during the snowstorm. The critiques I’ve seen are the following:
The governor is on a boondoggle in Europe while Delaware suffers from the snowstorm.
The State of Emergency was too draconian and lasted too long. It should have been lifted earlier.
On [...]

Glenn Beck Loses All U.K. Sponsors

The effort to contact Glenn Beck’s sponsors has been very successful. 102 sponsors have pulled out of Glenn Beck’s show and for at least 3 days, there have been no sponsors when Beck’s show has aired in the U.K.

Late Night Video — Close Guantanamo

One of the benefits of being snowed in this week is that I’ve had a chance to catch up on some blog reading, and discovered that I had missed this really good video about missing the one year anniversary of the commitment to close Gitmo.

Scott Spencer Deserves Better

Kavips lauds Scott Spencer’s accomplishments and ideas, but is concerned that there is a better place for him in the party, politics, and in government than likely losing to John Carney. While Kavips is well intentioned, it is the losing to Carney that will air Scott’s good ideas to the public, and his future in politics can wait until after the primary.

Reid Grows a Set?

Reid found some courage today in scrapping a jobs bill that had nothing but giveaways to the GOP in it. Now he needs to use that new found courage to pass a real jobs bill through reconciliation without any GOP support. Do it, Harry. Do it now.

20 Years Ago Nelson Mandela Was Released from Prison

Does anyone remember when Mandela was released from prison? I was in Salt Lake City that day and couldn’t get to a TV or radio until after the day’s work. Mandela’s speech was clear and strong — and it seemed clear that this was the day apartheid died its well deserved death. [...]

Breaking: President Clinton Hospitalized

Via TPM:
We have very little information so far. But President Clinton was hospitalized at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital this afternoon. It’s not clear whether it was on an emergency basis or not. But we have unconfirmed reports that it was for a heart related procedure.
Just heard this on MSNBC as well.  Hope all is well.

Socialism in Sussex

Sussex shows a budget surplus, but asks for volunteers to plow the roads without compensation. I think we just saw a form of socialism play out in the heart of Sussex County.

Irony in our Disappointment

Congress is broken, brought down not only by lobbyist and corporate influence but also by the obstruction of the Party of No. The supreme irony of our times is that only George W. Bush seems to be the savior, in that perhaps his abuse of power during his terms in office are the only way to fix Washington.

Political Quick Hits for February 11, 2010

The GOP now hates transparency, Joe Biden stays classy too, Colbert and Stewart once again mock the right, yet another Republican Congressman announces his retirement, and Tom Perriello’s prospects in Virginia.

Your Taxpayer Dollars At Work

What’s a good use of taxpayer dollars? It’s paying for prostitutes for Blackwater mercenaries, of course.

Palin Couldn’t Pass A Literacy Test

When I was in high school and faced with an essay question I couldn’t begin to answer my standard response was to fill up the paper with enough nonsense in the hope that I’d accidentally hit upon some point that would save me.  It rarely worked.  That said, take a look at this exchange between [...]

Lunacy

On Joy Behar’s CNN show, she had a round table to discuss Sarah Palin’s speech at the Tea Party Nation convention. On the panel were Stephanie Miller, Ron Reagan and an unhinged rightwing nutcase Pamela Geller (Atlas Shrugs). Geller is completely unhinged claiming that Palin didn’t quit her job as governor, she answered [...]

Heritage Foundation Is Against Federal Funds For Snow Removal

The Heritage Foundation, who supported the unfunded Iraq War, thinks the federal deficit is too high to help Delaware with snow removal. We should just suck it up.

Political Quick Hits

We got everything here, from the classy Michelle Obama, to the equally unclassy Sarah Palin, to favorable poll results for the repeal of DADT, and signs that the repeal will be reality shortly, to Chris Matthews being frightened, to putting the Teabaggin goodness into polling context.

Virginia To Legislate Against The Anti-Christ

From Daily Kos:
This seems reasonable enough:
RICHMOND, FEB. 9 — The House of Delegates is scheduled to vote Wednesday on a bill that would protect Virginians from attempts by employers or insurance companies to implant microchips in their bodies against their will.
But wait until to hear why some Delegates are supporting the measure:
It might also save [...]

John Mayer’s Penis

Singer-songwriter John Mayer did an interview with Playboy magazine recently that he may have wished he didn’t do:
“My d–k is sort of like a white supremacist,” Mayer went on. “I’ve got a Benetton heart and a f—in David Duke cock. I’m going to start dating separately from my d–k.”
Oh my.

Americans Continue To Support Health Care Reform

The Washington Post and ABC News did a poll asking Americans about the current political climate and bipartisanship. The basic result is that Americans are frustrated by the lack of progress on important issues and both parties are taking the blame for this, but Republicans are coming in for more blame. When Americans [...]
