Late Night Video — Close Guantanamo

Filed in National by on February 11, 2010

One of the benefits of being snowed in this week is that I’ve had a chance to catch up on some blog reading, and discovered that I had missed this really good video about missing the one year anniversary of the commitment to close Gitmo.

Still not too late to call all three of your Congresspeople to ask them to support closing this abomination. They could stand to hear this message multiple times.

Obomba is the Commander in Chief. He could shut Gitmo down tomorrow if he wanted to.

  2. fightingbluehen says:

Obama never intended to close gitmo. He just said he was going to. It.s called lying.

And, of course, the only respondents here are the ones with no idea where the hold up on closing Gitmo is. The people in this video are conducting a real campaign to make that closure happen and have identified the actions to take to get it done.

Figures that the folks who think that complaining on the internets is sufficient to convince the real obstacles to closure get out of the way would be here showing off their remarkable — and remarkably persistent — ignorance.

  5. cassandra m says:

That might mean something if you could demonstrate that you knew what a fact was.

Not too late to find out, though!

What’s the hold up casandra ?

Since I already wrote this post once, you can start here. And after that, Google Is Your Friend. There’s been a decent amount of press coverage on this and even this video (if you actually watched it) shows you where the speedbump is.

You don’t think that the Commander in Chief in a time of war has the power to close Gitmo, a military prison, by giving the order? He could fly everybody out of there tomorrow. Who’s gonna stop him? The Congress? Obomba has discretionary funding in his war budgets that he could spend, if he wanted to.

The only reason Obomba is using the Congress as an excuse is because he doesn’t have a plan and wants someone to hide behind.

  9. cassandra m says:

Still looking for some facts, I see. Keep working — you’ll find one sooner or later.

  10. fightingbluehen says:

So cassandra. are you saying dick cheney and the republicans stopped obama from closing gitmo, because last time i looked obama and the dems were in control of the government.

  11. cassandra m says:

    I am not saying that.

But thanks for reading my links and looking at the video I posted up. Just don’t try to argue over bullshit that isn’t even close to what I’ve had to say on this.

  12. fightingbluehen says:

    just trying to clarify cassandra.
