Palin Bows Before Rush

Filed in National by on February 7, 2010

Sometimes, every once in a while, Sarah Palin will do something that I agree with. Usually it has to do with defending her family. I thought she was right to defend her daughter after Letterman’s failed joke. I also thought she was right to criticize Rahm Emmanuel for calling liberal “retarded.” It isn’t a nice thing to say, and as we’ve discussed before on the blog it is very hurtful to families and advocates of people with Down’s Syndrome.

So why is she giving Rush Limbaugh a pass for using the same word, in the same context, repeatedly?

Palin also used her platform to continue a call for the president to rid himself of his closest advisers. On Attorney General Eric Holder, she labeled his handling of captured terrorists — “allowing them our U.S. constitutional protections when they do not deserve them” — a firing offense. On Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emanuel, she said his comments calling liberal groups “f-ing retards” was “indecent and insensitive” and cause for his dismissal.

But the former governor went to great and sometimes awkward lengths to insist that when conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh used the same exact term to describe the same exact group, it was simply in the role of political humorist.

“They are kooks, so I agree with Rush Limbaugh,” she said, when read a quote of Limbaugh calling liberal groups “retards.” “Rush Limbaugh was using satire … . I didn’t hear Rush Limbaugh calling a group of people whom he did not agree with ‘f-ing retards,’ and we did know that Rahm Emanuel, as has been reported, did say that. There is a big difference there.”

Let’s get this straight – when Rahm Emmanuel uses the word in private conversation it’s a firing offense. When Limbaugh uses the word repeatedly on his national radio show, it’s funny. Shorter Sarah: IOKIYAR

Thank you Sarah, for reminding us that you actually have no redeeming qualities and that, yes, you do use your family as political props.

I’m torn. I’d love to see the GOP nominate her because she is about as electable as a leaky bag of dog shit. On the other hand, with the mass media 100% controlled by conservatives they could make a leaky bag of dog shit look pretty good. After all look what they did for the that Texas fuckwit, George Bush.

I can’t believe that a majority of Americans would vote for Sarah Palin for President. But then, they reelected “W” 2004. The first time, in 2000, was a “perfect storm” of WTF’s but the second time was just downright horrifying.

I have no problem with her milking her fame what whatever she can get, but I sure hope the wing-nuts get tired of her before 2012.

no WAY she gets elected if nominated. Think of a debate between her and Obama. Sure 1/3 of the country will follower her like lemmings off a cliff, but i think in a general election, Obama would beat her like a (and i only say this because sarah herself has changed her mind and endorsed this type of insult) retarded rented mule (offense only meant to saint sarah and her lemmings)

I think “moose haunches” is just funny. Just say it out loud, “moose haunches” and try not to giggle. Retarded moose haunch having freak show.

I have a Downs Syndrome sibling and I was offended by Rahm calling liberals retards. But not because of the “retard” part.

I’m offended because liberals are right and Rahm is wrong.

Moose Haunches sounds like some ice cream flavor. And if Palin EVER gets near a nomination again….I will be the newest Dixie Chick. I’ve heard more economic, domestic, and international policy knowledge come out of my 17y.o. than that screech–and w/ more respect. How long does 15 minutes have to go on for with these folks? Can’t she and Kate Gosselin just go bond somewhere?

Palin 2012…. I say we all change our party affiliation to R so we can give her Delaware’s primary. I

John McCain is a f…ing retard for bringing her to the national stage!

  9. a.price says:

“I also thought she was right to criticize Rahm Emmanuel for calling liberal ‘retarded.'”

I’m no expert, is there grammatical test for retardation?

  12. Way to bring your A game, JZ.

  13. Jason Z says:

Wow, I wish that had been intentional.

    JZ slinks away…

didn’t sarah retard her studies and her career by quitting so many schools that when listed it looks like a ncaa b-ball bracket? i mean, grifters know they have to move along once their name is soiled, but c’mon now!

she’s retarded so many other things too that it would take someone not retarded to get them all straight. let’s see…

retarded the wolf pop in AK
might as well put the caribou in there too
retarded the GOP’s chances in ’08
    retarded her tenure as gov
i’d say she retarded her followers too, but they’re already retarded.

there are soooo many more, but i needs to buy me some rock salt
