Beck Vs. Birthers

Filed in National by on January 5, 2010

Birthers are going after Glenn Beck because he doesn’t talk about Obama’s birth certificate enough. A birther group has been flooding Glenn Beck’s radio show with phone calls:

Here’s the explanation and the mission, as posted on Dec. 21 on the forum of the anti-Obama church ATLAH Worldwide:

Anyone that gets through will say this: We love Glenn, BUT

* Glenn talks about the constitution, but he is ignoring the grossest violation…Obama’s ineligibility.

* Glenn is united with the MSM and he is part of this 16 month media black out that Orly Taitz has compared to the media in the USSR.

* PENDING LAWSUITS against the president of the United States are not being reported, but I am sure that this would be a different story if Obama was a conservative; regardless of his race.

* Did the Saudi Prince that owns Fox stocks and Rupert Murdoch order that this issue NOT be reported?

And here’s the effort’s 2,500-plus-member Facebook page, which has been renamed Operation Special Prosecutor and expanded to target Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh.

* We are demanding that the news blackout be lifted
* We are demanding that Eric Holder appoint a SPECIAL PROSECUTOR IMMEDIATELY.
* Hey Glenn? I guess we are un-American for asking for a SPECIAL PROSECUTOR?

Talking about czars and health care is a DISTRACTION GLENN. At least Hannity has not attacked the movement, unlike Beck, Mark Levin and Bill O’ Reilly has; I am not angry with Hannity or Rush at all.

You are obviously afraid to throw the KNOCK OUT PUNCH.

I guess there is trouble in paradise because Beck responded to the birthers on his show, accusing them of working for Obama:

“Today there is a concerted effort on all radio stations to get birthers on the air,” said Beck. “I have to tell you, are you working for the Barack Obama administration? I mean, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.”

Beck explained his skepticism of birtherism in a back-and-forth that’s worth reading and concludes with jabs at the press and at the birthers.

“As the guy who the media says is the king of conspiracy theories, all I do are forward conspiracy theories, let me forward this conspiracy,” said Beck. “He was born here because it seems a little unlikely that somebody planted the birth records, okay, a little unlikely, in the newspapers. Now you would say, well, then why doesn’t he just produce? Good question. That one kept me up for minutes at a time, minutes.”

I guess this is one reason why I think this Republican resurgence from the teabaggers is doomed to failure. Apparently crazy people aren’t satisfied with half-measures, they want the full crazy. You’d have to be pretty darn crazy to be too crazy for Glenn “OLIGARH” Beck.

It was only a matter of time, and I’m expecting a lot more of this from the Republican base. They are all trying to out “purify” each other for the title of real conservative.

    Pass the popcorn.

  2. cassandra_m says:

    A Special Prosecutor? LOL!

They should definitely keep talking about this for the next year, for sure.

  3. anon says:

How crazy is the GOP when Glenn Beck is the voice of reason?

However – I think the teabaggers are going to be wildly successful. Not that they will elect teabagger candidates, though. Their success will be in moving the GOP to the right. Voters who are motivated by anti-incumbency will not stop to evaluate whether the GOP candidate is too far right – they are simply looking for an alternative. So when the public gets its anti-incumbency mood on, the alternative to Dems will be an even more right Republican party.

The center left is screwed again. We elect Al Gore, the Supreme Court takes it away. We give Obama a mandate for leftward change, he leads us back to the center. Elections don’t seem to be working for us even when we follow the rules.

  4. anon says:

Also – the ONLY reason Republicans are avoiding the birther topic is because it isn’t working for them; it is backfiring. If it polled well, they’d be running it every day on FOX.

  5. It doesn’t work for them because it makes them sound crazy and immune to facts.

  6. a.price says:

NOW we have to make sure the LefTeaBagZ get even louder.
“Obama is a puppet of the Israeli Banking Kabbal”
“Obama is an agent of the military industrial complex”
“I didn’t pay attention to a word he said during the campaign, but now i think he is going back on his word”
THAT way we can make sure no worthwhile discussion is EVER had. GO LefTeaBagZ GO!

anon. First of all, I’m gonna go ahead and assume you are the same person that has been anon here for at least as long as ive been getting my fix. Second I’m gonna assume you are the “anonymous variant” I’m thinking of. I usually agree with what you have to say. But dude, i think you are flat wrong on this one. Glenn Beck is by NO means the “voice of reason”. He has, on at least one other occasion i can think of, shown a thread of decency…. when he begged his followers not to do anything violent. The guy is in it for the money. Plain and simple. If he sees his image going to a place that the dollars wont follow, he will distance himself from it. I DO think it has gone too far already for him, and this is proof. He’ll have to start screening out calls from the right wing fringe now, or risk some yahoo calling up and inviting him to join their right wing terrorist group. His main audience is this lunatic fringe and if/when THEY abandon him…. good bye Glenn.

  7. a.,

There are several different anons. I think anon is being a little ironic calling Beck reasonable. I think his/her point was that Beck is crazy and you’d have to be really, really crazy to make Beck look reasonable.

  8. anon says:

“It doesn’t work for them because it makes them sound crazy and immune to facts.”

True, but Repubs have lots of positions that make them sound crazy and immune to facts. Something about the birther thing made them pull back. Maybe it was Jason’s Crazy Eileen post!

Actually I am half serious. The Crazy Eileen episode was the first glimpse of GOP craziness that penetrated the MSM. Perhaps it made them realize they had gone too far.

  9. anon says:

When I got started, “anon” was the handle everyone grabbed when they had something to say but didn’t want to be identified. It isn’t supposed to be a brand name, it is supposed to get lost in the crowd. At one point there were enough “anons” that it made sense. Now I just don’t know how to stop…

  10. Geezer says:

Does that mean you need Anonymouses Anonymous?

  11. The first step is admitting you have a problem.

  12. nemski says:

    Just become “nona”

  13. anon says:

Beck is a voice of reason!

  14. anon says:

    No, he isn’t. Shut up!

  15. anon says:

    Yes, he is!

  16. aprice_anon says:

    this game again?

  17. There you go, everyone agrees with at least one anon.

But wait! It gets better!!!! The racism wasn’t made only for TV, he’s been showing his, er, colors, for years (via Wiki):

“At WKCI, Beck and Gray co-hosted the local four-hour morning show, billed as the Glenn and Pat Show. On a 1995 broadcast of the show, Alf Papineau pretended to speak Chinese during a taped comedy skit. When an Asian-American listener called to complain, Gray and Beck made fun of the caller and played gongs in the background while Papineau spoke in a mock-Chinese accent. The listener contacted a number of human rights organizations, four of which formed the Connecticut Asian American Coalition Against KC101 Racism. The station manager read an apology on the air and the station issued a written pledge to refrain from offensive activities and instituted cultural sensitivity training for employees.[44]

When Gray left the show to move to Salt Lake City, Beck continued with co-host Vinnie Penn. At the end of 1998, Beck was told that his contract would not be renewed when it expired at the end of the 1999”

Yeah, asshole, move to SLC – no Asians there to call you out!

So maybe the Brit, Neil Sankey can succeed where the Russian immigrant (from the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic) has failed, bring it on.

Poor little Birthers (still in denial about their losses), Judge Land and now judge Carter, smack down the crazies (case dismissed).

Not even “Fake News” Glenn Beck or Bill O’Reilly believes the crazies, how funny.

To all the birthers in La, La Land, it is on you to prove to all of us that your assertion is true (TOUGH WHEN YOU KEEP LOSING CASES), if there are people who were there and support your position then show us the video (everyone has a price), either put up or frankly shut-up. I heard Orly Taitz, is selling a tape (I think it’s called “Money, Lies and Video tape”). She is from Orange County, CA, now I know what the mean when they say “behind the Orange Curtain”, when they talk about Orange County, the captial of Conspiracy Theories. You know Obama has a passport, he travel abroad before he was a Senator, but I guess they were in on it.

In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme religious right (people who love to push their beliefs on others while trying to take away the rights of those they just hate) and that’s who they need to extract from their party if they real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”.

I heard that she now wants to investigate the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC). She wants to re-establish a family values party.

I can only hope that Taitz will resist the state collectors that will be hounding her like the “ruff ruff” that she is to collect the $20K.

  20. Scott P says:

I’m loath to admit it, but there’s a small part of me that feels sorry for the likes of Beck, Hannity, and the other FOXers, although it is of their own making. At least while they’re associated with FOX “News”, they do sort of have to straddle the line of respectability. While FOX is, of course, neither Fair nor Balanced, I do think that somewhere there is a line they dare not cross. Since they still need fairly large, mainstream sponsors, they can’t go to far into the fringe. Problem is, they already allowed themselves to be pulled in that direction. There is no end to the fringe. Once you allow some of the fringe a platform and apparent vindication, the next group out wants in, too. Once you start saying “No, you’re too far out of line”, that group will come after you. That’s what we’re seeing. That’s why bouncers are big guys — the people you don’t let into the club (or throw out) can get pretty pissed off.
