Good News To Start New Year
For the first time ever . . . EVAH . . . since the ill conceived Iraq War began, the United States did not suffer any combat deaths in a calendar month reports CNN.
December was the first month since the beginning of the Iraq war in which there were no U.S. combat deaths, the U.S. military reported.
For all you haters out there, put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Well we own this one to the Iraqi government who didn’t allow the U.S. to dictate the security arrangement.

“The total withdrawal will be completed by December 31, 2011. This is not governed by circumstances on the ground,” the [Iraqi government] spokesman, Ali al-Dabbagh, told Iraqi reporters, pointedly rejecting the more conditional language that the U.S. government had sought in the accord.
One good thing about it, the security agreement was on Iraq’s terms set by them not Bush’e or Obama’s. Iraqi election are this month so hopefully all goes well and we’ll be out by 12/31/2011. Let’s hope Obam makes it 12/31/2010

If you think a nation under foreign occupation “sets the terms”, you’re living in a parallel universe.
Same thing would have happened if we’d pulled out before the “surge.” The “surge” was a waste of blood and treasure as is the “surge” Obomba is doing in Afghanistan now..
And while we’re on the subject was the handling of the Black Water Guards murder case epic incompetence or an attempt to shield Bush/Cheyney/Rummy and Congress from further, unmanaged inquirey?

Great synopsis of what went wrong and why with the Black Water case at the NY Times. I don’t expect the Teabaggers or Blue Ballers to understand it.
