Weekend Video Roundup

Filed in National by on December 6, 2009

Commenter anon points us to this video that Charlie Copeland highlighted at Resolute Determination apparently approvingly:

Copeland adds:

There is nothing that I could add.

Indeed.

Sarah Palin speaks for God:

ABC actually does a decent job explaining the stimulus:

Harry Reid shows a bit of backbone and lets loose on Aetna.

Lest anyone miss the point: The video Copeland posted is superficially your basic teabagger rant against social spending. But this teabagger rant is not a joke. Most of us cannot stomach watching that stuff, so you wouldn’t get to the part about halfway through, where the guy directly addresses former military and calls for them to get their “muskets” and overthrow the US government.

This lunatic is running for Congress in Florida (Allen West). He is a former Lt. Colonel who left the Army after personally performing a mock execution on an Iraqi prisoner, according to published reports.

MSM is beginning to post very positive stories on the economy and the stimulus. I’ll get some links later if I have time. Recall that in 81-82 Reagan bottomed out at 39% approval and the economy was tanking; there were Repubs lined up to primary Reagan. But the jobs came back and all was forgiven by 84, even despite Reagan’s series of tax increases. Might be a model that works for Obama and the Dems.

  3. It is hard to believe that any American could disagree with the Col. No wonder liberal is a dirty word.

  4. nemski says:

Liberal isn’t a dirty word, but teabagger sure is. Bwah ha ha ha ha.

  5. We should all agree with armed insurrection?

  6. liberalgeek says:

I just got a chance to watch the Lt Col. West video. I’ll tell you what, if he is in a line charging me with a bayonet, I will put a hole right between his eyes. If The right thinks that they are going to scare the rest of the country with their “insurgency” and military overthrow rhetoric, they have another thing coming. The Constitution that they hold up as the model for their bullshit has no provision for attacking their fellow citizens with bayonets fixed.

The Constitution says that we vote. If you can’t win at the ballot box, you get out and rally your team and try next time, but not with arms.

Mark my words, liberals are willing to fight for their country. And we won’t be intimidated into staying home. When that charge comes, we won’t be standing there flat-footed, we’ll be ready to kick some ass.

  7. pandora says:

I don’t know how I missed this. (Thanks UI and LG)

I’m so sick of talk like this; talk that calls for American going (physically) against American. Charlie Copeland is an ass who should be ashamed of himself. He also deserves to have this video follow him for the rest of his lackluster political days.

And I’m with LG. I will fight for my country. Unlike the Copeland who will hide out in Greenville while letting the peasants do his work. Disgusting.

as long as it is politically correct to kick said ass, and PETA doesnt take umbrage to the possible connection to abusing pack-mules… and as long as there isn’t a legalize it/no blood for oil/ be-in protest that day.

  9. anon says:

Teabaggers have dreams about getting their deer rifles and hunting down scared Democratic politicians and bureaucrats in business suits. It ain’t gonna be like that. More like Ruby Ridge.

  10. liberalgeek says:

    Or the Somali pirates.

  11. pandora says:

The teabaggers don’t recognize how disconnected their rhetoric is. I have trouble actually seeing them turn against their neighbors. They’re all talk.

  12. liberalgeek says:

Good point, and I suspect that the fundamentalists among them would never step foot inside of the Tun Tavern (which is relocated to Atlantic City).

  13. anon says:

This comment is not a joke. Follow the links. The parallels with Charlie and the teabaggers are eerily similar to Uncle Irenee and the American Liberty League. Maybe Charlie, or people who think like Charlie, thinks Lt. Colonel West will be the new Smedley Butler.

  14. pandora says:

He’s a pig, who given his “breeding” should know better.

  15. cassandra_m says:

The League labeled Roosevelt’s Agricultural Adjustment Administration “a trend toward Fascist control of agriculture.” Social Security was said to “mark the end of democracy.” Lawyers for the American Liberty League challenged the validity of the Wagner Act (National Labor Relations Act), but in 1937, the United States Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the statute. The League faded away and disbanded in 1940.

These people don’t even changeup their playbook.

But that persistent belligerence seems to be their default position in dealing with the world. And is pretty much unimpressive.
