I'm not much for football chitchat but it bears mention that the events of the last three months reinforced the impression that KC Keeler is all sunglasses no cattle.

The Delawarean who was involved in the Sterling Hall bombing was the one member of the four-man gang who gave a warning call. Then the bomb went off earlier than the four expected.

The widow of the post-doc researcher who was killed in the blast - he was working past midnight - kept her counsel after losing her husband and having to raise their 3 kids alone, never responding to many entreaties from pro-war culture warriors.

I was thinking of this terrible event last week at its anniversary. Ruined or terribly altered many lives, including that of the 18-year-old Wilmington participant.

joncoh - back to your response to me, I think DICK Rodriguez will be run out by the always-too-powerful-and-influential-at-every-school alumni association + trustees. They grumbled about their poor choice before the end of last season. This added exposure will just give them more reason to be pissed off. My take is that he saves his butt only by keeping the season to four losses or less AND that the program gets no penalties, if found guilty of the accusations. In the form of Dicky, I have never seen such a better example of cutting off one's nose to spite his face. The dude had it made at WVU and just deep-sixed himself over his gluttony for more and can't handle what he got at UM. That's my take.

On the Big Least, it is very sad to see what has become of that conference in terms of Football. Of course, I don't shed too many tears for the ex-Big Easters when they struggle in their new home. Effers. They don't always struggle, but when they do, I admit a bit of a smile. Then again, without that, the Big East wouldn't be arguably one of the best College Basketball Conferences in the country...yes, even (damn it), Notre Dame.

Wisconsin loses a minimum of 3 but probably more like 4 (with at least 2 at home). Bielema is in a battle for worst Big 10 Coach with Rodriguez measured by who does more damage to their respective programs.

I'd like to see no rankings until mid-October or so, but the networks need to be able to pump up their nonconference matchup s so that is not going to happen. When you rank a team, say 15th, in the preseason, they have almost no chance of being considered a real contender because there's no way for them to climb over that many teams.

A playoff for the top 8 teams would be great, but since it's not going to happen, I think we'll be seeing Florida against Oklahoma or USC in the BCS title game. And Notre Dame, with a schedule almost as soft as whipped cream, will be in a BCS bowl.

As much as I want to give UI the business about Wisconsin, they actually have a good chance of finishing 11-1. There only Big 10 games outside of Camp Randal are against Ohio State, Minnesota, Indiana and Northwestern.

As a matter of fact, if Wisconsin finishes 10-2 that would be a dismal season for them.

Rsmitty,
You are kidding yourself if you think that the NCAA (who you cleverly have identified as the NC$$) is going to do anything that will jeopardize money hauls.
How many violations have come out against USC, Florida, Ohio State, and Florida State in recent years? Never have they implemented any penalties at the risk of what that would mean to future dollars.
The only way they inflict a penalty is when the school in question isn't a big money maker. (e.g. Wisconsin... sorry UI couldn't help jab you again)

I didn't realize the bomber was from Delaware. It was actually one of the science buildings that had some kind of Army center on the top floor. The man who died was a physics post-doc who had to go in late to check his experiment. I was at UW for the 25th anniversary of the bombing.
