Tom Carper’s Chief of Staff Now Lobbies for Wellpoint
You read that right — the nation’s largest insurer has hired Tom Carper’s ex-Chief of Staff as a lobbyist to campaign for their interests on the health care bill:

How is it that it will take ‘decades’ for history to judge the success or failure of the Bush administration yet we know already that the Obama administration is a failure?”

Wednesday Open Thread
Is it only Wednesday? It already seems like this week has been too long. It’s open thread time, what’s catching your interest today?
I found this amusing – progressive activists crashed an organizing phone for the Teaparty Movement and conservative bloggers. Personally I think the progressive activists are lying, Sarah Palin told us [...]
Sarah Palin Is Unfit To Be President Because…
She’s incapable of representing all Americans.
On Hannity last night, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she’s “all for” profiling Muslims if it saves “innocent American lives.”
I’m really sick of this sort of talk. It’s beyond disgusting. Frankly, it’s un-American – and I’m not one to use that term lightly. It also sets a dangerous precedent [...]
It is time to do away with the Old Testament.
Let his days be few.
Let another take his office.
Let his children be fatherless
Let his wife be a widow.
When You Think It Can’t Get Uglier…
Someone writes this in under 60 words:
It’s no fault of the president that he has no natural instinct or blood impulse for what the America of “the 57 states” is about. He was sired by a Kenyan father, born to a mother attracted to men of the Third World and reared by [...]
We Dodged That Bullet
We always knew Obama was smart and sometimes we got confirmation in unexpected ways:
As you know, Plouffe’s book offers the fascinating revelation that just before the South Carolina primary, a senior Edwards adviser offered him a swap: Edwards would drop out of the race if Obama would make him his Veep. The adviser argued that [...]
The Only Thing We Have Is Fear
A great American president once said this:
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
–President Franklin Roosevelt
What did he know, he only led us through WWII against history’s greatest villain, Adolf Hitler.
The new Republican motto must be “the only thing we have is fear.” Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ) is not happy that NYC [...]
Bad Taste Rules the Day in Coverage of Biden Motorcade Accidents
The Huffington Post and the tabloid Gawker connect recent Biden motorcade accidents to Neilia and Naomi Biden’s death nearly 40 years ago.

Republicans are assembling a STELLAR Field.
On top of the news that the GOP has enticed the highly sought after Republican juggernaut Fred Cullis into the race for Delaware’s open Congressional seat, we receive word from Delaware Politics that …. gasp …. Former Delawareans for McCain leader and 17th Republican District chair Kevin Wade is considering a run for the seat. [...]

Blame McCain For Palin
Andrew Sullivan points out something obvious that has been missed. McCain was the one who brought Sarah Palin into the spotlight – she owes all her recent success in enriching Sarah Palin to him. Has McCain apologized yet?
We knew that about a charlatan like Kristol and a nihilist like Rove. But what I [...]
Radio Times’ Hasan Hour
Last night I was able to listen to a repeat broadcast of yesterday’s Radio Times with Marty Moss-Coane (mp3). She spent an hour interviewing three guests about Nidal Hasan, the Ft. Hood killer. Unfortunately, I only got to hear the first half, but it was riveting. The first half hour was a discussion with Daniel Zwerdling, who has been interviewing Hasan’s co-workers to find out what the missed signs were.

It’s Easter Break, you Heathen!
News from downstate is often hard to come by, and political news all the more. So apparently Sussex County Councilwoman Joan Deaver upset the applecart a bit recently when she suggested that the spring break around the Easter holiday be called “Spring Break” instead of “Easter Break.” As is their practice, right wing conservative Christians were outraged.

Christie at UD Games.
I have season tickets to Blue Hens Football games at the University of Delaware. So does the new Republican Governor-elect of the State of New Jersey, which perhaps explains the foul odor and ominous feeling of doom I encountered at the last game two weeks ago. I kid. Seriously, I [...]

Health Care Reform Polling
Two new polls are out from CNN and ABC/Washington Post that find that the country, as it has been for months, is split on the current healthcare reform plans before Congresss. I have always decried these type of polls, because the reporting on them assumes that if you are against the current bills [...]

I am sure you are all wondering what Jason330’s reaction to the recent poll numbers showing Beau Biden leading Mike Castle by 5 points. Apparently, he fired off a letter to the editor containing his response to the News Journal. I doubt they will print it, but I will.
17Nov2009 | Delaware Dem | 5 comments | ContinuedBreaking! New Compromising Carrie Prejean Footage! Here! Now!
This goes back to when she first ‘found the Lord’. Hadn’t even dyed her hair blonde yet, although the boobs might already have been altered. I’d require a closer inspection to either confirm or deny.
This footage has been under court-ordered seal, and sitting in the vault of a television production company . You know, the one [...]
Tuesday Open Thread
LOL!
Warning: Do not be eating or drinking when you read the following, from John Ziegler’s review of Sarah Palin’s new high school slam book:
“For many reasons, this is by far the best book and greatest literary achievement by a political figure in my lifetime.”
“I strongly believe that if every Republican primary voter reads this book, [...]
wRong Willams, Clue — Clue, wRong Williams
Update: The online News Journal dropped the following line from Williams’ column:
And then, if some quirk of nature would defy all the universe and he would beat Carney, he would face former lieutenant governor, two-term governor and eight-term congressman Mike Castle.
Also, I could not find a correction anywhere on the site. Now, I need to [...]
Voluntary Victim?
Can you be a voluntary victim of sexism? Sarah Palin posed for this photo willingly. The sexism charge seems to be one of context, since this photo was originally taken and used for Runner’s World magazine and that context of that photo was about health and fitness. It would seem though, that this photo has a lot more context to it than health and fitness. Let’s review.

These Things Just Happen
Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck had a conversation on O’Reilly’s radio show yesterday and predicted violence against Nancy Pelosi could occur.
BECK: Last week, I head you say that — you were on with Dennis Miller. … You two were talking about an insurrection coming.
O’REILLY: Tax revolt.
BECK: He [...]
Scaredy Catservatives
We Americans, at least in the conventional wisdom zeitgeist, imagine ourselves and our nation to be tough, courageous, and superior to all others. Yet, it would seem that the same people who shout “We’re #1!” are the ones almost scared to death of trying or imprisoning terrorists on American soil. If America is so tough, superior and just, then we can handle putting terrorists on trial for their crimes against us. If America is so tough, superior and just, we can handle imprisoning them on American soil.

This Week In Health Care Reform
The CBO scoring for the Senate health care reform bill could come back as soon as today. Once the CBO weighs in, the debate on the bill can start in the Senate. Right now the schedule has the bill ready for a vote around Christmas. The Republicans have been promising to do [...]

The Castle Conundrum
To win this election, Castle must now go negative, and he cannot if he wants to win the election. To win this election, Castle must be the moderate he has professed himself to be, and, for some reason, after all these years, he is acting like the conservative he is.
