I've seen this website roundly mocked and laughed at via a number of blogs, but the best one has to be Atrios' reminder to the repub candidate who put forth this monstrosity that Geocities called and they want their website back.

Oh pandora!

You are bringing back memories of watching the election returns when Mass was the only state to go for George McGovern. I wasn’t very far from there, over in Somerville. It is indeed the HUB of good liberal thought! If you end up moving there I may turn green with envy. But, wow, it is expensive. You are going to go through some serious sticker shock after living in Delaware.

Pleased to report I got in and out of the Acme in under 30 minutes, no line at Pike Creek. Of course, that was a couple of hours ago and I had fewer than 10 items.

I hope cassandra or pandora have some good recipes to share for turkey soup.

I’ll make an unnaturally large vegetarian dinner for mostly family. After that, playing it by ear. NOT going shopping, that’s for sure. Is it supposed to stop raining? Ever?

And I originally thought Senator Kaufman was a “placeholder”. Not any more. Actually, reminds me of a Bible verse.

I’d count Kaufman as “good wine” and I’m sorry he wasn’t served earlier.

He might as well have been. Look, i like Beau, he has shown he is his own man, but lets be serious here. Joe was a senator for a LOOOOONNNG time. if memory serves, he never even reallyhad a tough time defending his seat. When the son of a long time senator runs for his dad’s recently vacated senate seat….a dad that is now the VPOTUS, it is nepalicious. I think delaware would benefit from having a Biden still in the senate, but we shouldn’t call it anything other than what it is. Truthfully, i would like to see kaufman stay there.. but this is how things work

Here’s a fuller quote from the article JMM knows very well that Beau Biden wasn’t appointed to his father’s seat:

As you can see, each of races is fall out from the successful 2008 election. Biden resigned his seat and got a placeholder appointment to cue it up for his son Beau Biden in 2010. Obama gave up his seat in Illinois triggering the Blago/Burris train wreck, Clinton resigned her seat to go to the State Department and Bennet got appointed after Sen. Salazar went to Interior.

Defending a seat without an incumbent is always challenging to some degree. But each of these, in different ways, looks very much like unforced errors/self-inflicted wounds for the Dems 2010 election prospects.

The “best” of these appointments may well be Beau Biden. There’s the obvious nepotism angle. But Biden’s an established politician — he’s the state’s Attorney General. And Delaware’s a small state whose politics has been dominated by three of four guys for decades. It’s not clear to me that there was another Dem available who would have come in to the contest better positioned. And his probable opponent, Mike Castle, is one of those three or four guys who’s been running the state for forever.

Having a few friends over for dinner tomorrow (roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, gravy, pumpkin pie and pumpkin-chocolate chip muffins) and then heading down to Ft. Lauderdale first thing Friday morning for a long weekend.
