The House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday formally recommended criminal contempt charges against former White House counsel Harriet Miers and chief of staff Joshua Bolten for their failure to comply with an investigation into the firing of eight US Attorneys.

The charges were presented in a resolution that, if passed by the House as a whole, would present a case for criminal proceedings to the US Attorney for the District of Columbia. But the justice department has said it will not purse the charges because the White House has invoked executive privilege.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The time is now.

Mike Castle must not be allowed to duck his responsibility to the constitution and slither away from taking a stand on this issue. Harriet Miers and Joshua Bolten failed to comply with an investigation into the firing of eight US Attorneys.

Call MIKE CASTLE’s Office and demand that he honor the vow he swore to protect the Constitution.

200 calls by Friday!!! That is the goal. Tell Mike Castle to vote for criminal proceedings in the Miers/Bolten Contempt of Congress case.

No thanks. I think I will call Nancy Pelosi instead and ask her why, if this country is in as bad a mess as you libs seem to think it is, is she so worried about 10 political appointees losing their jobs. How about work on fixing the major ghosts you see as being there rather than playing more politics.

Kinda like being worried about a Blow Job?

No thanks. I think I will call Newt Gingrich instead and ask him why, if this country is in as bad a mess as you Rethugs seem to think it is, is he so worried about blow jobs. How about work on fixing the major ghosts you see as being there rather than playing more politics

    WOW, HOW APPLICABLE!

  4. jason330 says:

Silly me. I thought that even my NUT would place some value on protecting the constitution.

If President Hillary Clinton was up to these shenanigans, our boy Chris would have been the first to get the Rule of Law Religion.

I’ll break rank here (something I tend to make a habit of). This whole Gonzalez mess is a heap of crap, and I add, it’s not the Dems slinging the crap on the heap.

When this firing saga first broke, I added it to my list of the administration’s arrogance…right there with Libby being the sole person responsible. That, too, just smells like a rotting pile of crap (Libby coming out as the lone criminal). Then Bush pardon-non-pardon afterwards. FWIW, the original sentence was a bit harsh for a scapegoat for others (although I believe he was guilty, he was punished for what I think are others guilt), but the freaking administration didn’t need to be so arrogant about shortening the sentence.

My apologies to my GOPeeps, but there is a reason I never voted for Bush. Oh, the apology is if you get upset, I will never apologize for not voting for W. Outside of the tax breaks, he is Republican…how?

Harriet Miers’ face scares my kid. Tell the truth, kinda’ makes my weeney shrink a bit.

  8. r smitty says:

    New poll:

Who is less scary to your kids and your weeney:
    Harriet Miers
    -or-
    Ruth Ann Minner
    ????

Thats like saying “would you rather get Aids or cancer?”

  10. Chris says:

“Kinda like being worried about a Blow Job?”

At least I am being intellectually honest about it. When the GOPs were throwing around the “impeachment” word with Clinton, I thought it was stupid and a bad move. It wasn’t worth the time or money investment, just as it isn’t here.

In this case the ONLY motivation by you guys is not protecting the Constitution. Lets be honest, it is about getting Bush and Cheyney out and making Pelossi president. Don’t want to risk the Dems losing the race in 2008. So put the fix in now.

    Lol.

    Nut.

  12. Chris says:

    Got me on that one….

Most distorted clueless revisionist non-sequitur ever uttered in the history of gibberish :

  14. Dave says:

“I thought that even my NUT would place some value on protecting the constitution.”

Where in the Constitution does it say the President can’t fire US Attorneys?

    Missed that part.

  15. jason330 says:

C’mon Dave you are better than that.

You know very well that it is illegal to use the Justice Department for partisan political advantage and to hire and fire based on partisan political considerations.

You also know that lying to Congress is a crime akin to lying to a grand jury. You alsoi know that it is also illegal to obstruct a congressional investigation.

Don’t go all wingnut on me. You know that the Bush crew is as crooked as the day is long.

Why try and provide them cover with this transparent spin?

  16. Disbelief says:

    Dave,

Preventing the use of political power to unfairly prosecute and harass is pretty much the core of our Constitution; even the Constitution Republicans have to follow.

    Tyler,

Are you THAT dense not to realize the post was a parody of the one above? Or does the slightest beam of truth blind your senses?

  19. Chris says:

“Preventing the use of political power to unfairly prosecute and harass is pretty much the core of our Constitution;”

Wasn’t that what the Administration was doing, preventing the Democrats from using political power to unfairly prosecute and harass?

    Sound perfectly legal to me…

  20. Tyler Nixon says:

    VC – I must be…

I guess when I see “Rethugs” my hackles rise and I forget nasty attempts at humor.

    xo to you too…
