This edition of the QotD is brought to you by Armstrong Williams. Do you remember Armstrong Williams? He was just one of the media figures secretly paid by the Bush administration to push Bush administration policies. In Williams’s case, he was paid $250K to promote “No Child Left Behind.”

True story: On a family vacation to the south of France, we stayed in a small town (pop. 600) for two weeks, and my teen-agers made friends with some of the locals. One young gal introduced my son to French kissing, and they kept up a correspondence for a year or so after that. One of her heartbroken letters included the line, “Life is so cruel to we!”

You do realize that the author of a column does not select the title in most newspapers. That is the province of one of the editors. But nice try at ginning up something serious to talk about.
