Spending Your Money Smartly

Filed in Delaware by on October 19, 2009

There are some upcoming events that Democrats and Liberals should consider spending their hard-earned money to support.

On November 10th, The Delaware Democratic Party is hosting their annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner at the Chase Center on the Waterfront in Wilmington.  Tickets are $45.  Sadly, the DelDems post on the event is less that spectacular, but the event is a lot of fun with good food.

On November 13th is a fundraising dinner for the 25th districts state representative (and the top progressive in the house) John Kowalko.  John has been a tireless advocate for progressive causes, his constituents and for the people that ordinarily wouldn’t have a voice.  Plus you can have some pretty good spaghetti.  All this progressive goodness for $25.  The event is from 6-9PM at the Unitarian Church in Newark.  Send email to kowalkoforthe25th@verizon.net to RSVP.  Tell ’em DelawareLiberal sent you.

  1. Several DLers will be attending the JJ dinner. Stop by and say hi if you dare. (Some people might not want to be seen speaking to us.)

And some may try to poison our drinks. Beware of IC staffers bearing drinks… 🙂

  3. Rebecca says:

    Geek
    IC staffers???

The JJ Dinner will sell out, so if you want to go, get your tickets now. You can purchase online at the DelDems website: http://www.deldems.org

Rebecca, the Delaware Liberalnistas should be out there in full force.

  5. MJ says:

I think I’ll join my fellow bloggers at a table. Are we all getting a table together?

  6. Jason330 says:

If you go look for the Tom Carper’s staffers huddled together at a table casting disdain on everyone and looking like they are being forced to watch an episode of Hee Haw.

    It is hilarious.

  7. Jason330 says:

BTW – Rebecca is right. This will sell out. I just bought two tickets (since I’m not a citizen journalist anymore).

  8. MJ,

We can’t get an official table, but we’re going to try to sit together. I’ll make sure to get there early to try to reserve us all seats.

  9. MJ says:

Well, I’m there. I’m in DC that day, but I’ll head up north of the Canal before heading back to Rehoboth. And I’ll be solo (my partner hates political dinners) so I’ll need a date. 🙂

I have a prior commitment on the night of the JJ dinner, but I am heading over to the fund-raiser for John Kowalko on Nov 13th.
The Unitarian is a nice venue and has ample parking . Kowalko has gone to bat on several issues when others did not,but he has also been able to do the needed coalition building that is required for a legislator to be effective.I am glad we have him in Dover.

    BTW I love your blog!

There is a reception/fundraiser in support of Lt. Governor Denn TONIGHT from 6-8pm at ‘Wilmington’s next great restaurant Public House,’ at 902 North Market Street in Wilmington, $150 per person (yeh, I know, a bit pricey). I believe that this is the only fundraiser for Matt this year.

Email DennforLG@hotmail.com or call 302-897-8976 to RSVP.

I received this info from the Denn Campaign, PO Box 1327, Dover, DE 19903.
