Rush Limbaugh Is A Victim!

Filed in National by on October 16, 2009

Rush Limbaugh knows why he was denied a chance to own the St. Louis Rams – it’s all Obama’s fault:

“So Obama’s America is quite possibly going to include the National Football League, and pressure from Obama, the Congressional Black Caucus and other places might be brought to bear on the owners,” Limbaugh complained.

And it wasn’t just “Obama’s America” that did him in.

Limbaugh charged that the Rev. Al Sharpton and others were in cahoots with the NFL Players Association, using the Limbaugh controversy for “leverage” in pending negotiations with the league.

The NFL is an “outpost of racism and liberalism.” Why doesn’t someone think about the true victims? Luckily, Red State has Rush’s back:

This caused quite a bit of frustration in conservative circles where Limbaugh was characterized as a victim. Perhaps the most amusing was this heartfelt RedState item, which argued, in apparent sincerity, “Tonight, Rush is us. And we are him.”

The enemy of this great nation, the enemy of you and me, Rush’s enemy… those on the left, inside and outside of this nation abhor success… and when faced with it will destroy it… by any and all means possible.

We all have our dreams in life… such as they might be. Rush dreamed of being an owner in the NFL.

Tonight the left proved that they will stop at nothing to end our dreams. Our dreams of success and happiness devastate their need to dominate and control you and me… and well everything and everyone. [all ellipses in the original]

Hmmm….perhaps conservatives believe that owning a NFL team is a Constitutional right? Apparently businesses have no choice in who runs them. In fact, conservatives are organizing a boycott:

Since Roger Goodell wants to bend over for Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the other bigots and race-baiters among the sportswriter community by shafting Rush Limbaugh, we ought to return the favor by punting the NFL this season.

I have cancelled my DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket package (including the Supercast). I will not watch ONE MINUTE of NFL games or coverage this season—including the Super Bowl.

And I challenge you to join me.

Let’s show Roger Goodell who REALLY runs the NFL—the fans.

Tremble at their mighty power, NFL! You’ll be sorry!

And to nip this in the bud before it starts, the reason why Michael Vick is back in the NFL and Rush is not, is because Vick has a skill set that is scarce. Having lots of money and wanting to buy a NFL team is something that is apparently in abundant supply.

    Capitalism, baby, capitalism.

  2. Michael Vick also doesn’t have a Constitutional right to play football. It was a business decision to let him back in. It’s also a business decision to dump Rush, because of his history of racist comments.

  3. nemski says:

When we become a Socialist country, maybe Rush will be able to buy in.

  4. cassandra_m says:

You wonder why The Leader of the Republican Party isn’t castigating his business partners for dropping his ass from the ownership team. Because those were the only people with any real power to get him gone from the process. Which you would expect people from the so-called Party of Business to know.

What is really hopeful about this entire story is that our larger capitalistic society is definitely bending pretty far towards excluding the professional racists from the market. Rush makes a ton of money nurturing the resentments of a shrinking group of people and it is pretty good that society seems interested in making sure that group doesn’t get added to.

The free market just kicked Rush in the ass, and the first thing he does is blame the President.

    Mega-wussy.

  6. Truith Teller says:

Look it’s the American way. Money was involved so dump Rush’s ass quick. the only problem is we all have to listen to this crybaby moan and grown how he has been mistreated by the President.
The only thing that surprised me was i was sure he would claim along with the other wing nuts that it was Clinton’s fault

  7. Progressive Mom says:

So Rush’s “dream” was to own a few muscular, tall, athletic black men?

  8. a. price says:

is anyone actually surprised that he is bitching and turning it against Obama?
btw PM, LOVE IT. you get the a.price “snark award” for the day

It seems to me that all the negative vibes this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has been spewing over these many years has come back to blow back on his face (A classic “Blow Back”). He always tries to give off the airs that he can have anything he wants but as we all witness those with more money and more influence tossed him aside like sack of potatoes and the ultimate insult was that it was done in public (money don’t buy you everything butterball).

Now of course he blames everyone else (Michael J. Fox, Perez Hilton, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Sonia Sotomayor, Hillary Clinton, Olympia Snowe, ESPN, NFL, the media, basically people of color, the handicapped, women and gays) when of course all you have to do is listen to his show and plainly hear his daily prejudices filled sermons. So NFL, I salute you decision, job well done. And to the whaling cry baby perched on his self made pedestal, quit your whining it was your own fault. Don’t we all feel better?

  10. Paul says:

The NFL decides who becomes an owner not the other way around.

All this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has to offer is his money and his opinions, which in my opinion are on the fringes of racism (one mans opinion). There are many more groups biding for the Rams, not just his group. Lets face it there are more men with money that will gladly fill the slot and the Rams will win or lose depending on how well the team works together and not on whether or not Rush is an owner.

As for Vick, well he is a player (he has talent not like you, Rush or I, unless you are a NFL player?) and he served his time and the NFL decided we live in the land of second chances, so why not (I personally don’t like it but, oh well). Life has never been fair (NEWS FLASH!)

Now as to the “Free Speech” argument, I guess many of you like myself heard Rush on Thursday “Almost in tears”, priceless. But the last two days he now is in his normal ranting and will continue until someone surpasses him, “Free Speech” continues, so quit your whining.

  11. Jim says:

Nobody did a better job of killing Rush’s hopes for buying into an NFL team than Rush himself. He has a long and well documented history of horrifically racist remarks. See http://www.chasingevil.org/2009/10/rush-limbaugh-in-his-own-words.html

This is not an issue of free speech, it does not apply to private individuals or corporations. It only applies to the Congress making laws that suppress free speech. Limbaugh has been allowed to say anything he wants on the air, but now it comes back to bite him.
