More Becklash: This Time From All Sides

Filed in National by on September 26, 2009

As we discussed yesterday Glenn Beck has been getting a lot of media attention lately. He’s got a new book coming out, with a book cover that is just unbelievable:

Glenn Beck went on CBS News and was interviewed by Katie Couric (is Katie Couric the right wing’s favorite interviewer?) and she asked him to define “white culture,” and he avoided the repeated attempts to get him to answer the question. Remember – Glenn Beck said that President Obama hates white people.

I guess we’re all supposed to *nudge, nudge, wink, wink* know what you mean, Glenn.

Stephen Colbert did an absolutely devastating report on Limbaugh and Beck – “Blackwashing:”

The exerpt of Couric’s interview with Beck was very telling. Definitely not willing to do the crazy on network TV. Not exactly looking like the man of principles trying to rebuild a nation, right? He sounds more like an overly cautious man making sure he gets paid. He’ll wait for the people he can snow easily on his own show to act out. I’m not much of a fan of Katie Couric, but I do like how she can ask these wingnuts about their incendiary positions and just let them squirm.

Loved that Colbert piece and I guess it would take Colbert to connect the dots in such a clear way.

what message do you think he is trying to send by wearing a Soviet era military uniform on the cover of his latest book?

He looks like a member of the Village People in this mug shot.

I feel sorry for Beck. He’s filled with hate and bigotry and is paranoid delusional. My guess is he’ll up on some kind of prescription drug like Limbaugh. Maybe he already is. Of course his well documentated cocaine addiction is legendary in Baltimore.

    PM,

naa, he’s to old and chubby to be a Village Person.

    what is “FTW”?

  7. kavips says:

Obviously Beck is about selling…. “Beck”

Every time we discuss him, we help his cause…

One doesn’t have to be wise, to see that…

    kavips,

I think Beck can no longer be ignored since he’s becoming the media’s assignment editor. The more attention to his crazy, paranoid rantings, the better.

Beck is on the cusp of falling into Ann Coulter territory. We should probably speak of them as “Beck, Limbaugh, and Coulter” and never refer to them singly. Hannity is in the same cesspool but it might take a bit longer for it to be recognized.

I think Beck fell off the cusp into Ann Coulter territory long ago is now exceeding her pace in craziness, certainly in attention-getting behavior.
