Sussex County Drinking Liberally Was A Blast

Filed in Delaware by on July 31, 2009

I had a great time last night.  It’s always fun putting faces with names, and the “birth certificates” are laugh out loud funny.  Our very own Cassandra and Unstable Isotope made the trip down – on a school night! – along with Free Radical.  MJ picked the perfect location (thanks again, MJ!) and handed out very official looking certificates declaring everyone an honorary Kenyan.

Meatball popped in to deliver a Sussex County “birth certificate” decorated with happy dinosaurs while Brian Shield’s produced his Berf Sirtificate. Such clever people!  Dave M. showed up with a friend – I really enjoyed meeting you guys.  Even CallerRick  braved the “liberal” den to hang out with us.

Thanks, everyone, for such a fun evening!

  1. I may never be the same. I lost my dewy-eyed innocence. You know that can’t be replaced.

I was delighted to get my Kenyan certificate! And the Birth Certificates were a scream — I hope that someone kept them so we can scan them in or something. Most of the even came in a plastic ziploc bag.

That was fun — and the drive is always better with fun companions, so thanks to UI and FR for driving with me (altho we had a couple of near death experiences in Rehoboth Beach). It was excellent to see everyone and good to meet callerRick and Brian. Thanks to everyone who came out to take their county back!

I am soo jealous. I really wanted to be there – and to think I was only 2 or so miles away..

  4. All the birth certificates were great but I have to admit to a great fondness for Brian’s.

  5. Rebecca says:

Sounds like a wonderful gathering! Good on all of you.

  6. pandora says:

I have the birth certificates! I was reading them again this morning – too funny.

  7. cassandra_m says:

If you want to send the birth certificates back up here via the Fig Man, I can get them scanned in, P.

Brian’s was really good. meatball did an awesome job too.

  8. pandora says:

Fig man? LOL! I’ll do that, then you and fig man can go out for a drink.

  9. MJ says:

I had a great time and Heather at the Parrot was very, very happy (guess y’all took good care of her). Pandora, thanks for letting me pick the place. I know that we’re welcome back anytime we want to show up.

And Dave M – contact me about that person we started talking about. I’d like to help them out if possible.

Brian – great meeting you in person. I’ll let you know next time we’re in your part of the county.

Glad everyone enjoyed their honorary Kenyan certificates. Especially seeing who signed them. Harambee!

  10. It was fun, and I was glad to get out and not be in political mode for a while. Y’all who didn’t go missed out.

Wish I could have stuck around for awhile. Maybe next time. Wasn’t parking was a bitch?

  12. Always is there. Backing out is even worse, you’re basically hoping someone sees you inch out into traffic.

  13. callerRick says:

“Even CallerRick braved the “liberal” den to hang out with us.

Which is unusual since I am so meek and withdrawn.

Thanks for the invitation….it was great meeting you all (sorry about your ‘lost innocence,’ UI).

Although powers-that-be, i.e, Jason, Geek, D-Dem, DV did not see fit to grace us with their prsence, it was a blast. I’m sure there are valid excuses all around, however, I note that these icons of early blog-Apocrypha seem to make it on a regular basis to the New Castle Drinking Liberally’s.

  15. my presence was required with my 9 month old son and not 2 hours away. My celebrity status however can make an appearance down that way for a fee.

  16. cassandra_m says:

Hey Dave M — just so you know, the real powers that be are Pandora, Unstable Isotope and me. If you were planning on petitioning for blog favors, you missed your best chance since we all made it to Sussex!

    😉

  17. pandora says:

Powers that be? For shame! 😉

Actually, Cassandra and Unstable Isotope deserve a lot of credit since they drove down from Wilmington/Newark and back again. I just made the trip from Fenwick.

  18. Dave M. says:

DV, with celebrity status and amazing good-looks comes responsibility. You let down those who worship and idolize thee. Your excuses fall upon deaf ears. I warn you, fame is fleeting.

And, upon reflection, the presences of Cassandra, Pandora, UI, MJ, and Cassandra’s hot friend more than made up for the disappointment of missing DV et al.

  19. pandora says:

Um… I think you’re referring to my “hot” Republican friend! I’ll be sure to pass on the compliment. 🙂
