UPDATED: Charlie Claims That He Does Not Know (which of 3500 living descendants of Pierre Samuel du Pont) is Propping Up CRI

Cuteness abounds.   […]

Cute right?  It sure would be nice to have your very own think tank.  Tee hee…To which I replied…

Here Charlie keeps up the cute front, but starts to betray a bit of testiness.

  1. In an era where we are propping up banks, car companies and all sorts of enterprises with taxpayer money what do we care about what private individuals do with their own money?

Start your own Think Tank if you want to counter CRI. It will never happen because a Think Tank has to be accurate, credible and have a mission.

These are challenges which liberals can’t meet.

    Mike Protack

  2. jason330 says:

Okay Mike. Let me get in my time machine and to back to 1760 so I can start a gun powder company on the banks of the Brandywine River and then fast foward to today so I can compete on a level playing fieild with Copeland Family Research Inc.

    Great idea dumbass!!

Wait a minute. Lacking a time machine, why don’t I just keep pointing out what a lying sleazeball Copeland is? Yeah, that’s the ticket.

  3. Jason (and to a point, ‘bulo):
I remain convinced that no matter what he says to you, nothing…*nothing* will ever be considered honest unless it fits the conclusion you have already made.

  4. jason330 says:

I would be swayed by honesty. Cuteness…not so much.

  5. anonnonononon says:

So Copeland has a body in his backyard?

  6. anon2 says:

How many duponters are involved in this little gig Mike? Just another think tank to overrule any attempt to get citizen initiatives passed in the corporate state. You and Charley deserve each other. There is only one progressive think tank in Delaware that I am aware of and it is truly non partisan, based on good government practices, that is: deinformedvoters.org.

  7. Maria Evans says:

I went to deinformedvoters.org, I can’t seem to find a list of members, board members, or contributers, can you post a link to that information, a2?

  8. jason330 says:

    Maria,

For someone who seems as suspicious of unchecked power as you do – you sure are willing to let the hereditary wealth off the hook.

  9. anon says:

Is Charlie Copeland really a “Yo” kind of guy?

  10. nooneimportant says:

I thought the same thing as anon (@7:21) Is he also a dude kind of guy?

  11. Susan Regis Collins says:

    RE: Update….Multiply 3500 people X $100.00 per person. Now that’s a nice chunk o’ change. Wouldn’t you agree 😉

RE: Maria & annon2….I have done everything but beg Floyd McDowell to list supporting members and groups on the website, down the side of a letterhead, etc. For some reason he has a block (head? 😉 ) against knowing the value of positive public relations; expanding the base, whatever….. He, somehow, does not want to utilize the concept of ‘community support’ to the max. It is a shame ’cause he works so hard on his projects. He mainly acts as the Lone Ranger but I think that hurts his efforts.

  12. anon says:

Is Markell screwing up his communications strategy?

The first phase of the Governor’s Performance Review, promised in his Inaugural Address, was completed on time in May. But it wasn’t released until July 17, allowing CRI and Charlie Copeland to create the impression that the Governor was stonewalling, and only their heroic efforts were able to extract the information from a reluctant Governor.

Then, the state’s online checkbook promised by Markell was also completed on time… but nobody announced it. As far as I could tell, the first public announcement was made on the CRI blog, which states they found it only after repeatedly searching the state website for the phrase “checkbook.”

    So, Rogalsky, Selander – WTF???

These are some of Markell’s promises being fulfilled. They are proud achievements, and you should be announcing them with trumpets and chariots.

Why are you letting the remnants of the destroyed GOP get out in front of Markell on his own achievements, and make him look bad when he should be looking good?

Is there some arrogance or aloofness here that we should be concerned about?

  13. anon says:

In other words – CRI is just filling a vacuum.

  14. Steve Newton says:

Is Markell screwing up his communications strategy?

Given the intensity of the budget crisis, happy harrys/walgreens, and sports betting brewhaha would it not be more realistic to attribute any lack of communications finesse to sheer exhaustion?

  15. anon says:

Not acceptable Steve; he’s got plenty of help, and he’s gotta chew gum and walk at the same time. Press releases aren’t that hard. The News Journal and WDEL are hard up for copy; so send them a nice story about how Markell keeps his promises on time.

  16. Steve Newton says:

Point taken. I was explaining, not justifying.

  17. Maria Evans says:

    ~Maria,

For someone who seems as suspicious of unchecked power as you do – you sure are willing to let the hereditary wealth off the hook.~

I don’t think Charlie is required to find out where all of his thousands of family members are donating their money just to satisfy your twisted conspiracy theories.

Incidentally, not all duPonts are Republicans, in fact, a duPont family member, Richard Bayard, was the chair of the state democratic party in 2004, and that’s just one example, there are many, many, many more.

  18. Art Downs says:

One duPont heiress was rather generous with a loan/gift/bribe to a certain political hack who claimed that she was ‘set up by Karl Rove’.

This rather tawdry affair involved a zoning decision that meant a lot of money for a rich old woman and her rather dysfunctional brood. There was even the murder for hire of a hooker and the use of a doddering ‘senior judge’ to impose ‘time served’ for a felony conviction. Throw in a side loan to another judge and we may see the Delaware Way running wild.

In the words of the late Boss Tweed “It will all blow over”.

  19. Geezer says:

Isn’t it obvious that if CRI had nothing to hide, they would reveal the names of the organization’s donors? Wasn’t it obvious that if Celia Cohen had nothing to hide she would have disclosed the names of those who paid her salary? And so on.

  20. anon says:

Secret funding to advocate for transparency – it is kind of like fucking for virginity.

  21. Geezer says:

“Secret funding to advocate for transparency – it is kind of like fucking for virginity.”

    Kind of, but less fun.

  22. anon says:

“Secret funding to advocate for transparency – it is kind of like fucking for virginity.”

You are a whole new kind of stupid.

  23. Geezer says:

“You are a whole new kind of stupid.”

And you are a whole new kind of sleazy.

  24. anon says:

Sleazy like a whole bunch of anonymous ‘bloggers’ attacking people under the guise of fighting for transparency? Yeah, fight the power, geezer.

  25. Geezer says:

    You too, assface.

  26. anon says:

    Whoa! Internet tough guy alert.

Geezer tactic #6: When out logic’d, resort to ad hominem.
