Republicans Rush to Condemn (wink) Scott Roeder

Filed in National by on June 1, 2009

Just listen to the condemnation Tucker Carlson lays on Scott Roeder. (Media Matters Link)

Whoa. Was that condemnation or a pat on the back?

Is it me or is Tuck expressing a new GOP talking point: Murder is a legitimate way to express your outrage over abortion.

(PS to Nancy: I found this link all on my own and not from reading another blog that that rhymes with Shmescaton) (wink)

  1. Wasn’t RwR arguing in Sunday’s thread that saying it was murder by the law was a “legalistic argument?”

Some people seem unable to distance themselves because they agree with the cause of the shooter.

Props to Michelle Malkin, though. She called Roeder a terrorist, which he is.

  2. jason330 says:

Props where props are due. (She’ll no doubt be forced to recant at some point, but hey…she tried.)

  3. pandora says:

I’m not that worried about Tucker – man can’t keep a job.

Seriously, prepare yourself for more of this talk.

  4. Susan Regis Collins says:

Anyone who does not realize that being so-called pro-life and being a murderer is incongruent should be taken to the edge of the city and stoned (now, that’s right outta the good book.).

  5. jason330 says:

There really is a feeling of the chickens coming home to roost in all of this.

The GOP and it’s affiliates have spent billions over the past 20 years nursing the bitterness and hatred in the hearts of demographic segments that they consider to be “their” voters.

There is no longer a “United States of America” to GOP pawns and flunkies like Tom S. There is only “us” and “them.”

The Republicans have successfully undermined our American sense of unity and purpose by using the angry and simple minded as props in a passion play. Scott Roeder, SCCOR and others are simply playing roles written for them by the authors of this sick, craven un-American political movement.

    Yes. It is that simple.

I admire your dedication, Jason. You will always try to bring the Republican Party into bad situations, even when the party is nowhere to be found.

  7. jason330 says:

Your DNA is all over this bro, and you know it. (Your party’s DNA. Not FSP’s DNA. Eww.)

  8. cassandra m says:

Tucker Carlson is an ass — his justification here amounts to saying that is was a shame Dr. Tiller was assassinated, too bad he deserved it. What is with these people?

  9. jason330 says:

In the “credit where credit is due” file – Hube called this what it is- Right Wing Terrorism.

  10. Tom S. says:

“There is no longer a “United States of America” to GOP pawns and flunkies like Tom S. There is only “us” and “them.””

Right, cause I go around saying that all the time…

  11. FSP says:

Do you want the mile-long list of people on the right who have called this terrorism?

  12. jason330 says:

    FSP,

I liked Jordan Warfel’s condemnation which carried this wingnut disclaimer:

Dr. George Tiller is the high profile late term abortionist that made Kansas the ground zero of abortion in America. He is well known for his poor medical practices, his breaking of Kansas abortion law, and his corrupt political activity.

Why is it that Republicans can’t condemn this murder without saying that the Doctor was a bloodthirsty maniac who had it coming?

  13. FSP says:

Again: Do you want the mile-long list of people on the right who have called this terrorism?

  14. jason330 says:

My point was if they read like Jordan Warfel’s statement which condemns the shooting victim more than the shooter you can spare me.

  15. Tom S. says:

“Why is it that Republicans can’t condemn this murder without saying that the Doctor was a bloodthirsty maniac who had it coming?”

I didn’t notice a “had it coming” in there.

  16. RSmitty says:

Ya know, though, you have no idea of the genuine emotions behind many who are condemning it. Some may not be great in your eyes (I agree that some of them are pretty poor attempts…and attempts are exactly what they are), but using it to score political one-upmanship is well, downright pathetic in its own right.
