Deep GOP Governing Thought

I know how I’d “fix” California if I was a Republican.
I’d cut taxes for the rich, make praying to Jesus compulsory in public schools and shoot an abortion doctor or two. That should do it.

Deep Tech Thought

Man oh man I hate gmail. It rolls all related emails into “conversations” and whenever there are multiple people involved in a “conversation” it becomes and unreadable mishmash of disjointed correspondence.

They aren’t Muslim…so they can’t be killers

David Anderson light AKA Tom S. Had this to sayShould we be particularly worried about the organized, mainstream, pro-life movement? Probably no more than any other political movement.
Pretty much sums it up if you ask me.

Thank God …

… the right wing blogosphere was all up in arms about the DHS domestic terrorism report that indicated, among other things, that radicals might use abortion as a justification for committing acts of domestic terrorism.
For we all know anti-abortion radicals never commit acts of violence. They never kill. For obviously they are [...]

Read All About It in the Sunday Papers-May 31, 2009

‘Bulo apologizes to his fan(s) for the relative lateness of this post. He was at the Arden Gild Hall last night, and comfortably blended in with those granola grannies while watching Marcia Ball and scorching opener, The Skyla Burrell Band, tear the roof off the place. So, he’s posting this and returning to Dreamland.
LEAD STORY: Mat-Su [...]

The Cost Culture of Health Care Delivery

This is a Must Read article by Atul Gawande at the New Yorker is worth spending some time with today. It is really difficult to excerpt anything here, but it is just that good. He gets at many of the real policy and practice questions that need to be thought about as we [...]

Paying Delaware’s Civil Servants

Today’s NJ has a long story on the salary of the President of DelTech — Lonnie George.  It’s a long article, but worth the read.  George is not only the state’s top earner, but apparently at the top of the salary list for community college presidents nationwide.
I’m not so interested in whether or not he [...]

Not Laughing At GOP Leader Limbaugh

I got to thinking today that maybe pointing and laughing is not a great liberal policy after all.
The corprate media plays along with Limbaugh and Hannity as if their ideas deserve consideration and good soldier Republicans like Protack and FSP take a lot of the craze-baggery at face value and parrot it dutifully. (Critical [...]

Interesting short stories About Gitmo and Iraq

I was hanging out with some Marines yesterday. It was a bbq and there were 6 enlisted guys shooting the breeze. In typical enlisted man fashion one guy had an 11 month old son that was conceived 1 day after he was home from his tour in Iraq. Also in typical enlisted [...]

Late Night Video: Young Conservative Anthem

Apparently, this is supposed to be serious. Is this supposed to attract young people to the party?
Truthfully, I couldn’t even get through the whole thing because the gestures were distracting me.

The Method to His Madness.

Or rather, his calmness, or coolness….
President Barack Obama is a shrewd, intelligent politician and tactician. Those on the right who think he is stupid, or nothing but a speechmaker who cannot think without a teleprompter, have severely underestimated their opponent, almost irredeemably so. President Obama knows all too well the nature of his [...]

Don’t Let Your Children Become Lawyers…

I have been in court all week, hence my lack of posts here, and thus the lack of Around the Horn Friday on Friday. Luckily, it was a slow week, what with the Memorial Day Holiday. So next Friday, I will post an extra large Around the Horn Friday for your reading [...]

What am I listening to?

A well-known activist—an anarchic, revolutionary activist—is accused of spying on other activists for the FBI. The strangest thing about the rumor is, it’s true. How Brandon Darby transformed from cop-hater to federal witness.
Also…Madison Winn. Accused of being a communist.

Steele Declares Viriginia Is For Republicans

Grandmaster Steele is predicting a Republican win in the Virginia Gubernatorial Race in November 2010:
I would like to congratulate Bob McDonnell for being selected by Virginia Republicans today as their candidate for governor. It is going to be a tough fight, but we are well positioned for victory in November.
Given Steele’s inability to accomplish anything [...]

This Space Intentionally Left Blank

Republicans, fight among yourselves.
First, we have Newt Gingrich tweeting from Auschwitz that Sotomayor is a racist. And former Congressman Tom Tancredo doubles down by calling La Raza equivalent to the KKK.
Senator John Cornyn is obviously worried about the perception that the war on Sotomayor will take down the entire Republican party, saying this:
“I think [...]

Nemski’s Music For the Masses: A Mixtape

I’m no Nick Hornby but his affections for football, music and literature are ones that I hold as well. In Hornby’s book High Fidelity, he writes about the art of the mixtape:
To me, making a tape is like writing a letter — there’s a lot of erasing and rethinking and starting again. A good compilation [...]

Delaware in the spotlight

oh boy where are they going to run now:

This is from a NY Times piece that is also now featured on Huffingtonpost

Wall Street, Sand Hill Road, LaSalle Street: Some corporate addresses scream money. Then there is North Orange Street, which whispers it.
North Orange, a ho-hum thoroughfare in Wilmington, Del., is, on paper, home to more [...]

Talk about your ‘Only in Delaware’ moments!

G. Gordon Liddy Is A Pig

In the pig’s own words…
Let’s hope that the key conferences aren’t when she’s (Sotomayor) menstruating or something, or just before she’s going to menstruate. That would really be bad. Lord knows what we would get then.
