The GOP has Become a Rump Regional Party…or is it just play acting?

Interesting poll findings on what America thinks for France, New York and San Fran. (Read the poll and come back to discuss….)

Okay…So why has the GOP decided that the only authentic Americans are white southerners?

I think it is for the same reason that adult “careers” are presented to children in the shorthand format of “fireman, doctor or astronaut.”

Those careers are easy to depict to children because they have distinctive costumes – so they represent the whole universe of adult careers.

Similarly, when depicting “American” to childish dolts – the GOP has come to use the shorthand version with an identifiable costume.

Southern conservatives are so xenophobic. Thankfully the rest of America is much less so.

The GOP definitely has a definition of “real” Americans. Remember Sarah Palin talking about the “real” Virginia? I think re-defining Americans is how the GOP is able to talk about how much the love America while bashing most Americans. I think it is an unconscious strategy, it’s probably how they resolve their cognitive dissonance.

I don’t know if they’re a rump party, but they do contain a lot of asses.

I think the “real Virginia” was part of the George Allen macaca remark. I don’t know where Palin did her “real America” speech.

    Ah yes…

It was McCain spokeswoman Nancy Pfotenhauer who said northern Virginia was not part of “real Virginia.”

    Palin said:

“The best of America is in these small towns we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call Real America.”
