Words Have Impact

Filed in National by on April 5, 2009

For people like Dave Burris, politics is just a big game.   When he pushed the GOP’s secessionist uprising talk on his blog, Delaware politics, he probably thought nobody would take that silly bit of GOP agitprop very seriously.  He probably thought that  a little tough talking gamesmanship was called for given the sad shape of GOP.

Who knows. What Dave honestly thinks about the secessionist uprising talk that he promoted on his blog is between Dave and God.

We can know this, however. We can know that some people who hear the rightwing secessionist uprising talk take it very seriously. I’ve always known that, but when I read the following quote I felt like I was punched in the gut.

“We recently discovered that 30 states had declared sovereignty,” said Mr. Perkovic, who lives in Lawrenceville. “One of his concerns was why were these major events in America not being reported to the public.”

I’m certain that reading that quote today has no impact on Dave.   Being able to imagine that your game playing has no impact in the real world is a essential skill for Republicans.

Meanwhile, three fathers have been taken away from their children and three families have been introduced to Republican game playing.

The repub right wing will always put money and guns ahead of people’s health and safety.
    Always.

  2. REGULATE says:

The 2nd ammendment starts with “A WELL REGULATED militia….

Whether you would like to argue that guns were meant to be a right for individuals and not militias, the fact is our forefathers use the term “well regulated” at the START of the 2nd ammendment. The word regulate appears only one time in the Constitution, in the 2nd ammendment. That, my friends, is intentional. So if you want to talk about original intent, look no further than the specific reference to REGULATE in the 2nd ammendment. That was no mistake. Even then, every one (including republi-cants) understand what the word REGULATE means. Just as important is the terms placement in the sentence. Our forefathers left no dount the government could REGULATE guns any way they see fit, regardless of right wing hysterics and their inability to grasp consititutional concepts, by qualifying gun ownership right out of the gate. Our forefathers made a specific reference to regulation when it came to guns. WELL REGULATED. Argument over.

Besides being immoral – the right wing wackos just might destroy what little is left of the GOP. God, guns and gays. What a platform! Newt might be right. A third party may be on the horizon.

  3. Actually, we will always put the Constitution of the United States (including the Second Amendment) above liberal dogma.

Actually, we will always put the Constitution of the United States

Thats a laugh. Lee Ann couldn’t get enough of pissing on the Constitution when the President was a Republican.

funny you mention dogma RWR, when every day we are seeing reasons why YOURS is getting people killed. this piece of shit got his ideas from glen and michelle and rush…. and you keep advocating more guns….. the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result….. get help

Duncan B just reminded me that this…

“Just so you know, we’re ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas.”

…was viewed as so unAmerican that it got the speaker blacklisted from the radio and a mailbox stuffed with death threats.

Now we have conservatives all over the place calling for revolution. Funny values system they have on the right.

  8. And as one with deep roots in Illinois, I’m ashamed that Obama is from there. hell, at moments I’m ashamed that he is from the US (and no, I’m not one of those who believes he isn’t a citizen).

  9. a. price says:

what was your reaction to shame expressed at bush from the sane.. i mean the left? please dont lie

  10. I didn’t meet any sane people ashamed of George W. Bush — well, except when he backed amnesty for illegal aliens.

I’m glad to have him back in my adopted home state, and I am proud to have his wonderful parents here, too. History will be kinder to both 41 & 43 in retrospect than liberals ever were to either from the first day of their respective presidencies

  11. a. price says:

THAT is a deflection of an answer. you are ashamed of Obama and want to express it and want us to honor and respect your freedom of speech, which I, at least do. what do yo think of my feelings of shame about Bush. am i insane? am i unamerican? or am i entitled to my views?

    RWR…

Completely sane here and utterly embarrassed we ever found Bush to be a compentent executive. Never voted for the dude…n.e.v.e.r. It was so easy to see in 2000, so easy. Then again, complacency is never an option for me and that’s what happened to our side starting back then.
