We Surround Them?

Can someone explain what this is about?

We Surround Them-The Unveiling
March 13th on FOX News 5pm ET

Now, Glenn Beck is a wingnut’s wingnut, but when you add the future President of Texas, Chuck Norris, you’re really bringing on the crazy.

In his WND column, Norris said he quipped on the show, “I may run for president of Texas.””That need may be a reality sooner than we think.

Chuckie says the comment was made tongue in cheek, but I’m not sure… especially when I read his next call to arms.

“We support Glenn Beck’s ‘We Surround Them,’ because if we the people of America do not unite, the liberties and freedom we have will no longer exist,” the Norrises said in a statement to WND.  “Government will have complete control of our lives,” they said. “Rise up America or face the consequences.”

And what is it with the terrorist lingo?  (Emphasis mine)

For those losing hope, and others wanting to rekindle the patriotic fires of early America, I encourage you to join Fox News’ Glenn Beck, me and millions of people across the country in the live telecast, “We Surround Them,” on Friday afternoon (March 13 at 5 p.m. ET, 4 p.m. CT and 2 p.m. PST). Thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation. You can host or attend a viewing party by going to Glenn’s website. My wife Gena and I will be hosting one from our Texas ranch, in which we’ve invited many family members, friends and law enforcement to join us. It’s our way of saying “We’re united, we’re tired of the corruption, and we’re not going to take it anymore!”

Cell groups?  Now, maybe it’s just me, but when I hear those words my mind goes to sleeper (read: terrorist) cells.  See, I was paying attention the last eight years.  Anyway, there’s a lot of hype about this event, and I don’t understand why.

Cheered on by local rightwing, Rush hosting WGMD.

  2. jason330 says:

All these Republican “jokes” about domestic terrorism are really unfunny.

  3. meatball says:

For those who fear to click:

“c: to have people with the skills of survival, persons with military training, farmers, hunters, and fisherman who are willing to teach these skills.

d: to have people with the skills handling firearms, and to teach the community how to use them. People that have the knowledge of gunsmithing, reloading cartridges and casting bullets, and to organize the collection of materials to do so. To encourage anyone able to get a CCDW (concealed carry deadly weapons) permit to do so.

e: to have people that have marketing skills to get our “BRAND” out to the public. The left sold itself with a “BRAND” Obama’s logo and his lofty speeches. They did this very well and they won. We have to get our message across in a more modern approach.

f: to have people monitor Town, County, and State meetings this is the MOST IMPORTANT of all. Without monitoring we will be run over by the very people that have been elected to WORK FOR US. (they forget this so we need to remind them often) We have to make sure that the elected officials are kept in check and that they don’t start pushing their own agendas on us.

We are not a radical group looking to create havoc. We are here to make sure that the law is followed. We are going to make our presence felt at as many political functions as possible. We will be peaceful but not pacifist. We do not seek to overthrow the government in a violent way but if push comes to shove we are going to be ready. Take a line from Malcolm X “By any means necessary.”

I think these guys are going to be in for a shock when they see Obama’s approval ratings in Delaware.

  5. Unstable Isotope says:

I’d be surprised if this was very big. The “tea parties” have been pretty small so far. I know Rush is stirring up his base, but it’s not that big.

  6. jason330 says:

I’d laugh this stuff off if these guys were not so into guns.

  7. a. price says:

lets hope not. we cant quiet down about the republican White Right Wing hate groups in this country…. we may have to defend our country against them.

  8. cassandra_m says:

So now what? There’s going to be a run at Bed, Bath and Beyond for uniforms for these people now?

  9. a. price says:

i think some of these people are serious. Glen Beck is one of them, and he has a public forum. I am all about free speech and freedom of the press, but i consider Beck a danger to the safety of millions of Americans because he makes the nut-jobs feel ok and powerful. HE not Rush is the problem.

  10. meatball says:

    Teh am smart der do:
    Former USN x 8yrs. DAV.
I look forward to meeting everyone at the next meeting.
It’s time for good men/women to get together and hold Gov’t accountablefor its actions, or lack there of..
Write nothing here, that you wouldn’t like to share with the entire world.

a great point, one that each of us must take seriously… VERY SERIOUSLY…

  11. anonone says:

    Look at the bright side:

If Texas secedes, they’re still stuck with the Dallas Cowboys.

  12. pandora says:

Meatball, that link is crazy and scary.

So… what exactly is Beck unveiling on Friday?

  13. cassandra_m says:

Folks, there is going to be more of this whackjobbery than less, so you might as well get used to it. And these people have media that will amplify and cheer on this crazyness. And the traditional media will treat these people with much seriousness and deference. If this had been extreme leftists looking to tie themselves to trees or something, there would be nonstop derision. Some of them will be truly dangerous. Most of them will be mostly hot air.

  14. Delaware Dem says:

Look, we have always said over the last 8 years and even before that that the radical right had a lot in common with the Taliban. But the similarities we were talking about was their cultural backwardness and religious fanaticism.

But then the leading Republican Congressman, Pete Sessions, said back in January that the Republicans must model their opposition on the insurgent tactics of the Taliban.

And I suppose some of the fanatical followers in wingnuttia took that to mean they should form sleeper cells and begin military training for an eventual confrontation with that which they oppose.

At this point, anyone and everyone partaking in these sleeper cells are traitors to America. They are advocating and preparing for a violent overthrow of the federal government. They have already taken actions in furtherance of this conspiracy, and should be arrested and treated to the consequences of treason.

  15. Delaware Dem says:

Indeed, when the right wing was last out of power in Washington, the more fanatical among them resorted to treason and terrorism. Timothy McVeigh and the OKC Bombing. Eric Rudolph and the Olympic Park Bombing and the numerous abortion clinic bombings. Ruby Ridge. David Koresh and Waco.

  16. anonone says:

Funny how when America was spying on its own citizens, torturing people, and silencing dissent these people said nothing.

But when a black liberal Democratic American is elected President by a landslide…

Let’s see how many of Delaware’s wingnuts denounce these tactics.

By the way, go here to see the 94 friends from Newark Delaware who have signed up for this:

    http://www.meetup.com/Glenn-Beck-9-Principles-March-13th-Newark-DE-Meetup-Group/

    Recognize anybody?

  17. Geezer says:

“the traditional media will treat these people with much seriousness and deference.”

No, it won’t. Those days are over. There hasn’t been much on the tea parties yet, and if people keep exposing it as astroturfing, there never will be.

With the collapse of the mainstream media, the right is going to find out — too late, of course — that it was the MSM that kept it alive all along. Once the fragmentation of news sources is complete, they’re stuck with their perpetual 28%, and with no way to bridge the gap to all the people who live in the real world.

  18. a. price says:

they dont need the real world they have guns and hate… while that … like al queda, always looses in the end, they take down a lot of innocent people in the process. these “americans” need to be kept in the spotlight so they can fry like ants under a magnifying glass

  19. anon says:

They don’t need a big showing. All they have to do is disrupt a few public meetings where Dem officials are speaking, and be videotaped getting heckled by others, or handcuffed, or tasered. Then they go national with the victim story 24×7 for the rest of Obama’s term.

  20. edisonkitty says:

I saw a “We surround them” bumper sticker downstate on Sunday. It struck me as odd that it was on a foreign car.

  21. cassandra_m says:

The other side is to get out and videotape them. Not unlike the folks who taped folks going to Sarah Palin rallies. That stuff helped to remind people why they were so turned off to the GOP….

  22. cassandra_m says:

I hope you are right, Geezer — it is the hyperbolic cable monster that I worry about more than anything.

  23. anon says:

If you are opposed to this, why are you (anyone) still subscribing to FOX? Cancel them. Switch to a package that doesn’t have FOX. Yes I know it means you might lose some other channels. Just call it your sacrifice for the cause.

  24. a. price says:

    very productive anon.

i wonder what they surround. considering the coasts and a lot of the north went blue…. we have THEM surrounded

  25. liberalgeek says:

Great quotes from the meetup site:

I believe in a Democratic Republic. I’ll be damn if I’m going to raise my children in a Socialist society with an idiot as the leader

Glenn Beck sees what is coming…..

    And for Dorian Gray:

Would like to make friends with sane logical God fearing people.

  26. a. price says:

    sane logical god fearing— oxymoron

  27. liberalgeek says:

Oh and I used to know one of the people (and there are a lot of people listed) but I haven’t seen her for 20+ years when my sister broke up with her son. All I remember about her was that she had an unusual obsession with Elvis.

  28. liberalgeek says:

    DG will love that.

  29. jason330 says:

Why aren’t these people taking part in civil war re-enactments like normal whack jobs?

  30. Delaware Dem says:

    Anon….

You can’t “cancel” Fox News. It comes in all standard cable packages. You would have to go down to the basic package, and I am not entirely sure if Fox is part of that bare bones package. So I assume you wish us to cancel cable altogether.

I have found another solution. I have blocked Fox from my channel surfing lineup, so that I do not mistakenly happen upon that horrid channel.

  31. liz says:

13, this is a meeting in a phone booth! Someone should go and check it out…see what their plans are. Isnt that what they do to the peace/anti war meetings?

  32. liz says:

meatball! There are plenty on the left who actually stand by the Consitution and the right to bear arms. With the economic upheaval we are going to experience, knowing all the hate groups who are stocking up, you damn straight I want my 30.6 real handy. Standing on the constitution shouldnt be hijacked by nutjobs, liberals and progressives should be standing on it too…its the only real document that binds together as citizens.

  33. anon says:

Silly me. I have the basic package sans Fox (came with the cable Internet). I am a martyr.

Blocking Fox is fine, but doesn’t send the financial message. I guess in lieu of dropping Fox you could write a sternly worded letter to your TV provider.

Or better yet, a campaign aimed at Fox advertisers. I suppose that’s already being done somewhere.

  34. feces throwing monkey says:

“We surround them”…sounds like a threat? Their getting more nuts by the moment. They actually are inviting the police to be on their “side”.

  35. jason330 says:

Police and people with mad “branding” skilz.

  36. anon says:

you damn straight I want my 30.6 real handy.

[anon edges away from liz, slooowwwwly]

  37. anon says:

This comment from “Ken” is the best:

” I agree with the princilples and values espoused by Glenn Back. I am a faithful radio and TV fan of Glenn’s and enjoy conservative talk radio. “

Note that he’s a faithful fan of Glenn Back.

  38. liberalgeek says:

He must have attended the Jason330 school of spelling and grammar.

  39. a. price says:

I ALMOST DID THAT but i am e pinko commie-liberal-gay-(not really)-feminist-obamabot ( let it be known some DL faithful coined that phrase when defending hillary last year and vowed to vote for mccain and now love the president…posers) so i do things like spell check.

  40. jason330 says:

Right. Also, the quotation marks are pointed the wrong way. That is black belt level shit.

  41. a. price says:

he is rebelling against elite keyboard rules

  42. xstryker says:

SCCOR looks like a successful product of the GOP’s astroturfing Grassfire operation.

Congratulations, Craig Shirley, now there’s a militia in Delaware.

  43. Unstable Isotope says:

I can not imagine “crazy eyes” Glenn Beck and Chuck Norris leading their way out of a paper bag.

  44. Dorian Gray says:

LG!!! I got to the bait @ # 25 and skipped to the bottom to comment. The salient comment to me was A1 # 16. Domestic spying and torture was apparently kosher (hehe) but now we have a black “socialist” president so we can all cue the feigned outrage…

Also, weren’t there outlets to teach gun safety and survival skills before Obama was elected? I guess now you really need them… I mean with the highest tax rate going from 35 to 39.5 and all. Suring up the endangered species act and allowing for federally funding stem cell research is definitely a harbinger for class warfare.

Isn’t proposing armed insurrection like treason or something?

  45. anon says:

Since 1980, conservatives have come three steps forward on their agenda, now they are taking one step back and they think it’s Armageddon.

  46. anon says:

I predict after Friday, people who watch Fox will think the whole country is rising up against Obama. Meanwhile the rest of the country will think “Huh?”

With any luck, other channels will pick up some fun crazy talk.

  47. a. price says:

I don’t think you get it.
This, I regret to say, is something to be concerned about. they are building dirty bombs and stockpiling guns. All they need is a fucknut like Beck to tell them it is o.k. it is a very dangerous minority. As I said before keep em in the spotlight make the public aware.
Don’t take away their rights or anything.. cause that is actually what they want to justify their craziness. Just don’t let them stay in the shadows plotting terrorism.

  48. Geezer says:

You don’t root out treason by smothering it in the cradle. Let them plot so we have the evidence needed to hang them.

  49. a. price says:

but keep a watchful eye so it only stops at the plot. I dunno, i feel dirty talking like this because it kind of advocates Big Brother. But these people are pretty much on record advocating violent opposition first. Not political uprising, not organizing voters and presenting a message. These are dirty bomb making gun collecting terrorists who have decided violence is the only answer.

  50. anonone says:

“Unite or Die” translates to “Unite or the EVIL GODLESS LIBERAL DEMOCRAT FASCISTS will kill us.”

  51. speeduardo says:

Yes… In the most simple and understandable term…, ya’all are deluded idiots.

  52. Robert says:

I am sure that you liberals just love talking all of this nonsense trash and other bs (Bull Shit) about consevatives and Liberterians. The truth is I as an American am scared for my country. Our rights are being delt heavy blows every single day that passes. We are putting our children and grandcildren into a dept, they will not ever be able to repay.

Take a long hard look at the Bill Of Rights and never forget them.

    * First Amendment – Establishment Clause, Free Exercise Clause; freedom of speech, of the press, and of assembly; right to petition

    * Seventh Amendment – Civil trial by jury.

    * Tenth Amendment – Powers of states and people.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

  53. Delaware Dem says:

Robert, where was your concern the last eight years?

You are nothing but a blowhard hyprocrite.

Tell me, what right of yours listed is being infringed by President Obama?

  54. Robert says:

It is not just the President Obama. It is the liberal left. Right now the catholic church is under attack. Which is a direct violation of our first ammendment rights.

    * First Amendment – Establishment Clause, Free Exercise Clause; freedom of speech, of the press, and of assembly; right to petition

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Government wishes to make a law to choose what the church is allowed to preach.

H.R.45 – Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 . This gun control law is a direct violation of the second ammendment.

    * Second Amendment – Right to keep and bear arms.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

President Obama promises a 500% tax on firearm ammunition.

Yes Obama is violating God given rights every day.

  55. pandora says:

Links are your friend, Robert. Please use them to prove your points.

  56. Delaware Dem says:

    Hahahaha.

You quoted the entire Bill of Rights, and stated they were all being taken away from you, and when pressed for details, you make shit about Obama wanting to pass a law that regulates what a church can preach (note: there is no such legislation, Robert is lying, hence the lack of links), and then you mention gun control.

That’s 2 Amendments. We can argue over gun control, especially on a day where 10 more innocent people died because of a gun in Alabama. But let’s not lie and pretend all of your rights are being taken away by President Obama. You still have the right to bear arms, and the Supreme Court upheld that right last year, so that right is not going anywhere.

The Constitution says nothing about taxing ammunition. You have no right to tax free ammunition. So give it up Robert.

  57. Delaware Dem says:

Robert, you do realize that your second link refers to a bill in the Connecticut House of Representatives, right?

And you realize that President Obama has nothing to do with passing or signing a law in Connecticut, right? Because, you know, he is not the Governor of Connecticut.

So when you said President Obama is introducing legislation that would tell a church what to preach, that was a lie, wasn’t it?

And from a brief review of that law in Connecticut, it has to do with tax exempt status and political sermons from the pulpit.

Tell me, do you actually read stuff or do you just get into a fever when Hannity or Rush tell you to?

  58. Concerned Citizen says:

Tell me Delaware Dem, when you say that 10 more innocent people died to day because of a gun in Alabama, are you saying that, this morning, the gun woke up and just decided to kill 10 people ? Would it make you feel better if the madman that killed them strangled or stabbed them? Guns do not kill people, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE!!!!! Or, maybe we should have the government take our cars away, since more people die in vehicle related accidents than by madmen shooting guns.

  59. nemski says:

    Flintlocks for all!!!!

  60. Delaware Dem says:

    Concerned Citizen…

Please open up your wallet and take out your Driver’s License. What’s that you say? Well it is a license to drive a motor vehicle issued by your state government. Yes, indeed, you do need a license to drive a car.

    You accept that.

Yet you want any emotionally disturbed madman, criminal or idiot to have easy, free and unfettered access to any number of weapons and any kind of weapons he wants. And God help you if you tax his ammunitions!!!!!

  61. pandora says:

Would it make you feel better if the madman that killed them strangled or stabbed them?

Yes, because he wouldn’t have been able to kill all those people. Next question!

  62. Concerned Citizen says:

Oh, and another thing, you people on here joke, or at least I hope your joking when you say this, that we (conservatives) are building dirty bombs and we have guns, just waiting for Beck to tell us it’s ok, That is, by the way, actually what one of you nutjobs said. Let’s look back shall we…. Who is, William Ayers ? Who is The Weathermen ? Who is Jerimiah Wright ? Oh, are those people that ARE domestic Terrorists ? Or in the case of Jerimiah Wright, have supported Domestic Terrorism ? But we cannot point that out now can we, because the great and powerful Obama might not look so good. Liberals, man are they stupid….. Oh and before I forget, one of you other nutjobs said, that Rush’s base is “not that big”, hmmm, let’s see, Rush has 13.5 Million Listeners, Hannity has 13.25 Million Listeners, Glenn, up and coming has 6 Million Listeners, Thats what Over 32 Million ? Nah, not a force to be reckon with at all, just sit back and pretend everything is going to be ok…… Oh, and did I mention that Beck, just recently beat WABC, in ratings, for the same time slot ? hmmmm, and he’s up 124% in NEW YORK ? Hmmm, that’s odd huh ? Kinda makes you wonder huh ?……..

  63. Robert says:

Oh Delaware Dem. If you take a look at comment 54 in the fist 2 lines I state “It is not just the President Obama. It is the liberal left.” You are just twisting my words as soon as they come out of my mouth.

I provide the facts that are needed. Obama may be your president, however he is not my president. I only answer to God not to the government. The government answers to me. When they infringe my God Given Rights then then We The People have a right to change or abolish the current form of government and establish a new one.

Don’t ever twist the words from my mouth.

  64. Robert says:

Concerned Citizen , Sounds like the only logical person on this comment page.

  65. pandora says:

What? You can’t point out Rev Wright and Ayers? Newsflash: You have pointed them out constantly.

And I’m thrilled that Rush is the leader of the Republican Party. Congratulations.

  66. Concerned Citizen says:

Hmm, I don’t believe the it says anything at all in the Constitution about me being able to Drive a Car, but it does state that I have a RIGHT to keep and bear arms, so, I do not need a license, and shouldn’t have to be required to have one. Oh, but wait, what’s the Constitution of the United States anyway right, I mean, you people think that it’s a living breathing document, that can be altered to suite your current fad at the time. Hey, can we take a look at Canada, or Austraila were they do have strict gun control? Hmmm, seems like a high, and steady rise in Gun Related Crimes (Google it, I’m not going to do all the work for you, although that is what you would like me to do, all you libs are the same). Why do you think that is ? Because normal law abiding citizens cannot defend themselves against criminals who still can get and have guns. Oh and Pandora, you would like the madman to have used a knife, because he wouldn’t have been able to kill all those people ? Why wouldn’t he have been able to kill all those people with a knife ? You think maybe it’s because someone would have came along with a GUN and stopped him ? Yeah, think that one over, man you people are whackjobs……

  67. Robert says:

Delaware Dem, I hate to say this but you are wrong. Criminals don’t walk into WalMart to buy a gun. They get them off of the streets, The black market.

My facts proven on this video.

    Here is the link.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR9RN_iSKtg&feature=channel_page

Just fast foward to 2:05 or watch the whole video if you wish.

  68. Unstable Isotope says:

Obviously Concerned Citizen’s strengths do not include reason and logic. You don’t need to have a gun to get away from a guy with a knife. The people that took down the man who shot the preacher did not have guns.

  69. Delaware Dem says:

And they did not have a knife.

  70. Concerned Citizen says:

Or better yet, show me one, just ONE country where these socialist bills and laws have worked, Just ONE, show me just ONE COUNTRY where this has worked. You can’t, why, because in the entire history of the world it has never, NEVER worked, yet, Obama, and the Lefty’s think it’s the answer. It’s no wonder why nutjobs like Chavez supports Obama’s Socialist ways. Oh, and don’t bother answering my questions, or defending your own beliefs with facts, I’m used to talking to liberals, so I already know your game.

  71. Delaware Dem says:

    CC…

Since we are talking about the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment, it states that the right to bear arms shall not be infringed. Gun control regulations such as waiting periods, background checks and prohibitions concerning felons and the mentally disturbed have been ruled by the Courts to not be infringements.

    Sorry, you lose.

  72. Unstable Isotope says:

    What are socialist bills?

Did you know that the great socialist president Ronald Reagan had a top tax rate of 50%?

  73. Delaware Dem says:

    Tell me CC…

What is socialist about giving 95% of the country tax cuts?

What is socialist about spending money to ramp up demand during a time when demand is depressed?

What is socialist about creating jobs?

And the one country I can think of where these kind of programs worked is…..

    THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

In the 1930’s and in the 1990’s.

  74. Unstable Isotope says:

Reagan: biggest tax increase in history
Obama: biggest tax cut in history

  75. Concerned Citizen says:

That is the best you can come up with, seriously ? That a man shot a preacher and was stopped by the congregation ? Yes, that did happen, AFTER the mans 45 Caliber gun jammed, and it’s a room full of people, of course they would stop him. I hope this is the story you are talking about, since what you said was very not very factual “The man that shot the preacher”, At first I thought you was referring to the Church Shooting some time ago, where the gun man was stopped (killed) by an ARMED church guard.

  76. liberalgeek says:

I provide the facts that are needed. Obama may be your president, however he is not my president. I only answer to God not to the government. The government answers to me. When they infringe my God Given Rights then then We The People have a right to change or abolish the current form of government and establish a new one.

Don’t ever twist the words from my mouth.

No need to twist those words. You just gave the equivalent of “You can’t handle the truth!” in the comment above. Please tell me how you and your people plan to abolish our current form of government, if not through armed insurrection?

Tip to the wingnut fringe: Don’t put Robert on the PR team.

  77. nemski says:

LOL, where were these wingnuts protesting the Patriot Act?

  78. Unstable Isotope says:

    nemski,

That requires them to have actual intellectual consistency. I don’t think you can apply that to the Limbaugh conservatives.

  79. nemski says:

    Limbaugh conservatives . . . Love IT!

  80. Wow I'm Shocked says:

    This is “Concerned Citizen”…

Just thought I’d point out to the rest of the board, that my last 4 posts have been deleted from the board, and I cannot make new posts, under that name or email address, WOW, you Liberals really believe in Free Speech, just shows that all you want to do is block the opposition when the opposition is right!!!

  81. Delaware Dem says:

Bullshit. None of your posts have been deleted. Let me see if you are caught in the spam filter.

  82. Wow I'm Shocked says:

I guess that would explain why we haven’t heard from Robert again, That’s right, take all the intelligent people from this board, all that will remain is you Left Wing, Sicko, Whacko, Nutjobs, If you love Socialism so much, why not move to France ? Don’t turn my country into what doesn’t work!

  83. Wow I'm Shocked says:

I have over 50 registered email accounts, I can keep this up all day long……… Just keep blocking me, Bull Shit you say, I guess my last 4 Posts just disappeared into the limitless blackness of the internet, not purposely done, because I was actually telling the truth, and proving you idiots wrong. Sure, whatever.

  84. Delaware Dem says:

    CC,

You posted a comment that was at least 10 pages long.

Post a link to it, but the system will not let me publish the comment. So find a link and post it in the comment, and send the comment again.

Fuck you over your other comments. You are just lying to make yourself look good at this point.

  85. jason330 says:

Why would we leave all the roads and school that we’ve built over the years to tax dodging losers like you?

  86. Delaware Dem says:

And if you start behaving like a troll and if you start spamming this site, then you will be banned as troll. Indeed, you just admitted to 50 email accounts, which reveals you to be a spammer.

So, Engage in debate with your own thoughts and links for support.

If you devolve into threats and name calling, or if you steal someone elses volumnious work and post it as your own, you will be banned.

If I wanted to ban you just because you disagreed with me, I would have after your first inane comment.

  87. pandora says:

Concerned Citizen hasn’t answered the question posed in comment #76.

  88. Wow I'm Shocked says:

You know what, I have had my fun, proving you wrong, you are so sickened by your Liberal way of life, your Liberal thinking, it is a sickness you know, Liberalism. I am not, nor will I sit here and be told I am wrong, when I have posted facts, about Reagans Economic Leagacy, then have it removed. I will, Post this site wherever I can, I will contact Rush, Hannity and Beck, and report this site as being censored. Anytime Rush mentions a website on his show, it always shuts down do to the Overwhelming hits by his “not that big base”. I guess this is just a sneak peek of the fairness or should I say not so fairness doctorine. Bye……

  89. jason330 says:

Did the special skool get a computer today?

  90. Delaware Dem says:

Hahahaha. This is the funniest comment in years.

Whoooo! Oh NOES!!!! He is going to report this site to the Fuhrers Hannity and Limbaugh!!!! OH NOEZZZZZZ!

We have good servers. We have never been knocked offline, even when Instapundit or Daily Kos or Salon links to us. So give us your best shot.

  91. pandora says:

Did CC just threaten to tell on us?

  92. Wow I'm Shocked says:

The question was not raised to me, but to Robert, or can you not even keep up with the simple tasks of reading a post, of course the DNC doesn’t tell you how to do that do they ? And, to “DD”, you are all offensive now, cursing, and what not, now that I have exposed you as censoring my post, and it was not 10 pages long, it showed up on the post just after I posted it, I read it, then responded to it with 3 more posts, ALL of which are gone now. You want a link, here goes….

    http://www.heritage.org/research/taxes/bg1414.cfm

That better for you ? Why do you want links, because you know that most of the people that read you little pathetic posts here, aren’t going to click on the link, that they may, in fact actually read it if it was posted here. You Libs are all alike, and what, just because I have over 50 email accounts means that I am a spammer ?, I think not, they are created for various organizations, work, gaming and reference sites, I don’t give out my personal email address, so when asked for one, I create a new one, is that a problem for you ? Too hard to keep up with me ?, I also have access to IP generation software, just in case you want to play that little game too. Ok, now I for real am leaving, I’m not real sure how I even got here, It’s not because I have ever heard of this post before, it’s not like it has the power to affect anything, Unlike Rush, or Beck, I guess that would be the underlying jelousy issue you so desperately display, when talking about them. It’s ok, I know as much as you want to be as powerful as them, it’s not going to happen, so just accept reality, and quit trying to make your own.

  93. jason330 says:

This is what you call leaving?

  94. nemski says:

This is what you call leaving?

    LOL, it’s a Republican thing.

  95. Delaware Dem says:

And hey, I thought we were censoring him. I guess Concerned Citizen is just a liar trying to make himself look good.

  96. liberalgeek says:

    I’m all afeared.

CC, you are a closed-minded punk with a set of delusions. You wanna have a discussion, fine, we’re with you, pal. But if you come with BS and a cut and paste job of many thousand characters, no one will take you seriously, least of which our spam filter, apparently.

Please get your parents permission to use the Internet before you come back here.

  97. Not Shocked This Time says:

Yeah, that’s right, the forum posters can’t read this but you can, so you know what I know now.

  98. liberalgeek says:

    You are insane.

  99. Unstable Isotope says:

I can read that Concerned Citizen Shocked Spammer wrote, I just don’t want to.

He’s going to tell Hannity and Limbaugh? We’re shaking in our boots. I guess the contributors better get ready for a deluge of poorly reasoned, badly punctuated hate emails.

  100. meatball says:

    Delaware Liberal,
you guys do know that not all of us who own guns are nuts, right?

  101. nemski says:

True, but all nuts own guns.

  102. liberalgeek says:

    He’s got you there, meatball… 🙂

  103. michelle says:

I guess you are saying that the very men who formed the Constitution and Declaration of Independence (which you freely live under) did so within their ‘cell’.

You have this whole Glenn Beck thing wrong, which makes me suspect you’ve never spoken to anyone who is following it. The viewing I am attending is already at 1000 particiapnts- and it is just one of many in the state. This is about the people, from both sides, finding a common ground and getting together to discuss what is actually going on in this country and how it comapres to our founding father’s orignal design.

There are ‘nut jobs’ out there (many with guns) who are blazing mad right now at the government, but they are not the ones involved in this awareness. It is just everyday citizens who want to remember the ‘truths we hold self eveident’. Are you really afraid of that?

  104. pandora says:

Both sides? Please explain more, Michelle.

  105. cassandra_m says:

You people are not anything like the men who formed our Constitution or Declaration of Independence. The values and the wisdom of these men are not to be found in a group of people acting on a bunch of fears that have been stoked by radio entertainers looking to get paid.

No one here is fooled — you people are stamping your feet because you lost an election. Want to change things? Win some elections and stop letting people on the radio tell you what to think.

  106. xstryker says:

Or better yet, show me one, just ONE country where these socialist bills and laws have worked, Just ONE, show me just ONE COUNTRY where this has worked.

    Sweden
    Denmark
    Finland
    Norway
(the above are the most prosperous countries on earth)
    France
    Germany
    Switzerland
    England
    Belgium
    Canada
    Japan
    South Korea
    Taiwan

    How’s that?

  107. jason330 says:

Michelle is just an American being an American. that’s why she probably also protested when Bush exploded the national debt and took a crap on the Constitution.

She is just a patriot, that’s all.

  108. xstryker says:

Oh, and don’t bother answering my questions, or defending your own beliefs with facts, I’m used to talking to liberals, so I already know your game.

Oh shit he’s on to us. He’s discovered the existance of facts, and how all of them support us. And he’s figured out that as long as he believes really really hard, he can protect his mind from facts.

  109. Skip Mendler says:

These people (ie Beck’s audience) are, to put it simply, terrified. They seriously believe that you & I want to punish them for their beliefs.

Their concerns need to be taken seriously, and addressed — tho I am not sure that they will be able to listen to reasonable discourse that doesn’t fit the apocalyptic narrative.

Their leaders are another matter. Either they don’t know what kind of fire they’re playing with – in which case they are insanely stupid – or they *do* know what they’re doing, which makes them sociopathic. Either way they’re
    dangerous.

  110. a. price says:

Kinda makes you wonder huh ?……..”

yay ive been called a but job by a moron!
I said you people are making dirty bombs because you are. it happened in Maine, look it up. I also mentioned how the Weathermen failed. CC or SHocked or The Shocker… the Beckanazis gave us oklahoma city and countless shootings. wake up or admit you condone that stuff.

  111. pandora says:

Skip makes a good point about fear.

Welcome Skip! Curious how you came across Delaware Liberal.

  112. a. price says:

none of your rights have been taken away you prick. ya know, i think about you people and want to vomit!
the left GAVE you civil rights and equal voting rights. ended redlining, and slavery, and oppression of Italian, Irish, and Jewish immigrants.
the only thing you have to lose fuck hole, is the WASP run world. get used to it!
damn straight the left is angry. you vilify us when time after time we CONTINUE to keep the promise of america.
you build bombs and kill children and claim it is because you were fighting an oppressive government YOU LIVE IN AMERICA!
I HOPE Obama takes your guns. they are tools of destruction and don’t belong in the hands of average people.

  113. a. price says:

skip, their beliefs would make America a fundamentalist white Christian Theocracy

  114. cassandra_m says:

    Welcome, Skip!

These people (ie Beck’s audience) are, to put it simply, terrified.

This may be true, but they are always terrified of something. Whether it is Islamic terrorists, family planning clinics or the new President of the United States, their default position is fear. Which is how they are stuck to their radios and other apocalyptic outlets.

  115. a. price says:

they are terrified, and have guns, and think they have the constitutional right to use them however they see fit on whoever they want. THAT is terrifying making them
    terrorists

  116. Geezer says:

Lots of things vie for “most pathetic element” of this nonsense, but I vote for the fact that they’re being played by a fuckstick who’s DOING THIS FOR THE MONEY! These dumb asshats really think Glenn Beck is doing this because he loves America, vs. loving a buck.

Bravo to the American Conservative Movement, which has finally invented the Self-Shearing Sheep.

  117. jason330 says:

Beck is in it for the money, but why no voices on the right calming these people down?

    Skip nails it:

Their leaders are another matter. Either they don’t know what kind of fire they’re playing with – in which case they are insanely stupid – or they *do* know what they’re doing, which makes them sociopathic. Either way they’re
    dangerous.

  118. a. price says:

it’s interesting. Palin was doing the same thing during the campaign and McCain actually tried to push back against it.

  119. DonnaFrFlorida says:

I am attending the Tampa gathering. I am a conservative. I do not hate anyone. In fact I volunteer money and time when needed. During the hurricanes of 2004, I was surrounded by lots of folks. As we talked, it was then I realized there was not a liberal in sight. When I asked for donations to help those in need, it was the conservative types who donated the money and goods. It was the Republicans who freed the slaves. It was the Democrats of which the majoirty voted against civil rights. I ask that you do your homework, research real history not revisionist history. May God have mercy on this country as they try to take away our rights and control of our lives. For every item you get from the government, they will have that much more control of you. They’ll tell you what to eat, where to live, what you’ll learn. Control is there objective. For me, power to the people. Neighbor helping neighbor. Hand up not out.
I belive in equality for all. Personal responsibility. Education is the key to ending the second slavery of welfare. Join me in fighting for indiviudalism. They say “Only in America”. Why is that. This is the ONLY place that with hard work and dedication ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. They are NOT like that in Cuba, Venezuela, Russsia, China or any other Socialist country. Do NOT let this country go down a path where you NEED the government for everything. God help you. They’ll pull their generous social programs if you do not conform to their rules, regulations. Then what. Become successful. Work on getting educated. Make a good living. I assure you this is SO much better than a housing project, food stamps, medicare/aid, public school system. Need I say more.

  120. Unstable Isotope says:

Does Donna realize that all the segregationist Democrats joined the Republican party? Hey, if Republicans were the party of Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt, I’m sure I’d be voting for them.

  121. liberalgeek says:

Donna, sorry, but you are off-base.

First, you are wrong to say that “conservative types” gave money and donations, I gave money, food and asked many others to do so as well. If Bush had given a damn about FEMA, he wouldn’t have had a unqualified person in the role.

Second, the revisionist history is denying that the civil rights act decimated the Democratic party in the south. The party of racial fear-mongering ain’t the Democrats. Take a look at the next Republican rally and count the people of color.

Finally, no one is going to make you reliant on the Government. Saying everything is SOCIALISM, makes nothing socialism.

  122. xstryker says:

Apparently Donna’s never actually met a liberal.

ducation is the key to ending the second slavery of welfare. Join me in fighting for indiviudalism. They say “Only in America”. Why is that. This is the ONLY place that with hard work and dedication ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. They are NOT like that in Cuba, Venezuela, Russsia, China or any other Socialist country.

What about Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, France, England, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Switzerland, and Canada? How are they like?

  123. david says:

I have a question on why people are afraid of guns. Most of the people i know own guns. I know of kids who are 10 who own their own guns. I grew up around them and im not afriad of them. I know its the person behind the gun who is a danger. Not the gun itself. I know 11 year old kids i would trust with a machine gun. Most gun crimes are committed by people who haven stolen their guns or got them illegally. You shouldn’t fear a gun. Its whether or not the person who has it is crazy or not. I’m 17 and grew up around them, and own guns. 3 rifles, 1 shotgun, a pistol, and a muzzleloader. Ive never committed a crime with any of them. All i do is target shoot. Its a fun thing to do. Its like most sports. You practice until you get as good as possible. Like my 50 caliber muzzleloader. I just got it. ANd when i first started shooting it, the shots were all over the target. Now im keeping them within a few inches of the center. ANd im proud of that. Im not very good at sports, but im good at target shooting. Why is a person like me owning guns so wrong to some people? Ive never hurt anybody. But people think me owning guns is wrong. And i dont understand. Can one of you explain to me why some of you are afriad of them?

  124. paul says:

First, capitalism has made the U.S. the richest country in the world. Most all U.S. citizens have a quality of life far better than elsewhere. Second, how much innovation has come out of the European socialist countries, negligible. Socialist countries deploy capital much less efficiently the capital countries – we wont be able to compete. Have you been to Europe? Unless your in the government (or connected to), you have very little opportunity to earn a good living. Third, its pretty much proven that socialism doesnt work – Russia, etc. China is sure is progressing now that a capitalist model is in place. Iagree to pollution is bad. Fourth, have you notice the US Debt to GDP level, read about Japan, its effectively done. Do you honestly believe the 5% of taxpayers who support this country make enough money to support your socialist agenda. The system is broken. Collapse will ultimately result. Fifth, look at our society now that the left has taken hold, bunch of freeloaders / whiners. Sixth, self protection by way of a gun isnt a bad thing. 911 calls and response take too long. Seventh, why does the left feel its appropriate to take 1/2 of a person’s income and redistribute it? Your not enlightened, your just in denial……..it doesn’t work……..

That will be my last post.

    Good day.

  128. a. price says:

    thank god

  129. david says:

Guns can be gotten illegally easily. If a trustworthy armed teacher was there at virgina tech or columbine, he/she could have stopped it before people died. We shouldn’t stop people from buying guns legally. We should stop them from getting them illegally. Im for stopping illegal gun markets. An illegal gun can only be used for wrong things. A legal gun is usually for either hunting, target shooting, or self defense for people who have to live and work in bad areas. I believe in gun saftey and that a gun by itself will not hurt anyone. Im for licencsing larger caliber handguns to people with finger printing and everything. But taking guns away from law abiding citizens is wrong. ANd yes people have used guns to hurt people. They are NOT law abiding citizens. They are CRIMINALS. Take guns away from people who have committed crimes. Not people who have done nothing wrong. oh and using the things price said

Notice how he cuts off the fact that im 17. Hes making me sound like a middle aged gun nut who rides around in a pickup truck shooting random things in the middle of the desert. People who do that are crazy. But probably someone will take this comment out of contex and make it sound like im a crazy person. So its pointless to argue with liberals. They hear what they want to hear and nothing else.

  130. anon says:

Dude, you are so hung up on your attitude, you don’t even listen to the words that are coming out of you:

We shouldn’t stop people from buying guns legally. We should stop them from getting them illegally.

WTF? You can’t stop people from buying guns legally. Because it’s, you know, LEGAL. If we have a good reason to stop them from buying the gun, we will make it ILLEGAL. And then I presume the law will have your full support?

But taking guns away from law abiding citizens is wrong.

Who in America has EVER taken, or proposed taking, a legally owned gun away from anyone?

  131. Miscreant says:

    “… i haven’t used this to insult someone since H.S but…. Jock”

Actually, immaturity that was my first thought when I was reading your puerile diatribe. I’m guessing you were the brunt of many jokes during your formative years.

  132. a. price says:

Very preceptive. i was in fact. glasses, braces, fat (still am kinda) i waddled, had a bad hair cut. … i was in MARCHING BAND (something i am still very proud of and currently teach) it was bad and turned me into a bitter bitter person.
David, since you are 17 you are still very uneducated i am also assuming you dont live in a major city where guns are easy to get legally or illegally. Here is the problem. it is very very easy for people to get guns. those people can than re sell them illegally. no one wants your guns keep them. be safe.
what I WANT is to make sure ONLY sane law abiding people get guns, and make it almost impossible for people who arent law abiding.
as far as V-tech…. not thinking for a minute i have a friend who had to witness their classmate get shot…. My goal would have been to make it hard for someone who was obviously mentally ill to obtain semi automatic weapons..

  133. a. price says:

there is no reason for people not active in the military to own firearms that aren’t for hunting.
you don’t hunt with a machine gun, you don’t hunt with a hand gun…. the only reason to have them.. aside from guns that cant be fired so as to display… is to shoot and kill people

  134. Dorian Gray says:

Damn it. How did I miss all this? They came out of the woodwork, didn’t they? No links to the 9/11 Truthers or the MI militia… that would have been awesome.

  135. david says:

So you agree with me price. Guns in the hands of law abiding citizens is okay, but guns in the hands of criminals are wrong. thats all i said in the second post. The first post was a question on why some people are afraid of guns themselves. But no one answered them. Oh, and im not a jock. I was in band, i played the baritone saxiphone. I stopped playing after Jr. High school because the High School band teacher kept making fun of me because of my glasses and weight. And my hair, but in my freshman year my hair was kind of weird so i no longer hold that against him. I just want to know why some people are afraid of guns. Like guns themselves. Not guns in the hads of crazy people. If a crazy person started pointing a gun at me i would be on the floor begging for my life like a lot of people. But if a sane person has a gun I’m not worried by them. I just want to know why some people are afraid of guns. Not the person with the gun. Oh and i dont live in a urban area. I live in a rural area. And i didnt know people would buy guns legally and sell them illegally. That just seems like a dumb thing to me and i didn’t actually know people did that. SO i conceed that point to you. That legal guns can become illegal quickly. So gun ownership in urban areas should be regulated better then. All i know is in rural Ohio the people who can afford to buy a brand new gun usually buy them and keep them and they get passed through families. None of the guns me or my family owns were brand new, except a single shot shotgun that my dad bought for skeet shooting. I’m just use to people who never have excess money that often and when they get it they wouldn’t buy something to turn around and sell. So i need to expand my thinking process to include areas im not use to. But I’ve met people who moved into the new suburbs that are popping up everywhere being instantly afraid of guns just because they are guns. I want to know why someone would be afraid of a gun. Just the gun, not the person behind it.

  136. pandora says:

David, you sound like a very nice young man. Your band teacher was an ass, and he had no right to make fun of you. What a bully! And don’t you ever believe that this teacher – in a position of authority – was right. Only a real loser would take on a kid.

Hang in there… it really does get better! There’s not enough money in the world to make me want to relive those teenage years.

  137. a. price says:

david, i must say. you are the only person to come on here as a conservative (i assume since you kind of used “liberal” as a dirty word) and actually act sane. It probably has something to do with the fact that you are a Band-o. we are a level headed breed.
here is the problem. you cant just regulate guns in an urban area, it would be very hard to legally define.
I think our little conversation here, one i am enjoying very much, is something that is missing from the general discussion about gun control. Loud mouths on the left scream “NO GUNS!” Than, people on the right think every time a SANE person tries to make city streets safer is trying to take their guns.

I understand you and your family own guns, are law abiding.. i’ll take you word.. and you are safe and responsible, and well trained. You, my friend are in the minority. That all gun owners could be like you and yours is something to strive for. Sadly, MY experience one the metropolitan east coast is very different, and i would like it to be harder for many of my regional neighbors to get guns.

“I want to know why someone would be afraid of a gun. Just the gun, not the person behind it.”

because in my experience,.. not personal, thankfully i have never personally been the victim of gun violence.. a harsh crack down on the ease of getting a gun would make me feel safer. last month in Philadelphia the 6th police officer in less than 2 years was shot and killed.. make it harder to get guns….. even if the ass hole pieces of garbage that shot them had knives… those officers would probably still be alive.

  139. a. price says:

It isn’t so much i am afraid of the actual gun. I’ve seen what can be done when it is easy to get them. There will always be violence.. but as a responsible owner, i’m sure you know how quickly and easily a gun can end a life. again i’m fine with responsible sane law abiding people owning guns. We are just in short supply of them here in the upper half of the east coast. If it weren’t for my proximity to the beach, maybe Ohio would be a nice place to live. 🙂 keep on truckin bro

  140. anonone says:

I really want the right to own a bazooka. Or a big-ass machine gun mounted on the roof of my house. That would be sooooo cool. And a Thompson machine gun, like the gangsters used to own. I could shoot target paper hearts with it on Valentines’ day.

    Sheeesh.

  141. Unstable Isotope says:

I was in band also. 😀

  142. a. price says:

  143. david says:

Its possible to regulate gun usage in urban areas. Well, it would work part of the time, which would cut down on crime. Have every person who owns a gun legally come forward, and be registered. ANd the people in their immediate family along with photos that are updated yearly. Alter state and federal codes allowing people in urban areas to be checked out for guns with no proof if there is probable cause. If a person is carrying a gun, and its not registered to them or a immediate family memeber, allow the police to confiscate it. Make sure names and adressed are taken when a gun is confiscated. The person who had it can get it back only if they pass a backround check and get registered. If they don’t, melt the guns down and sell them for scrap and use the proceeds to teach gun safety at public schools. It wouldn’t work instantly. But more guns would be taken off the street that dont belong there. Thats the type of legislation that should be passed. A hindrance that will save lives. Not a hindrance that will cost lives. Like taking away all handguns and not allowing them to be sold. They will just be brought in from the outside and people who can and will defend themselves are defenseless. I doubt an average criminal would pull a gun on someone if there is a pretty could chance multiple other people will pull a gun on them after they do it.

  144. Unstable Isotope says:

I played flute and piccolo. I was pretty good, but science sucked me away from music once I was in college. I really enjoyed band and performing music.

  145. a. price says:

david, your solution requires people to tell the truth. as it stand now, you have to register and get a back round check to get a gun. in some states there is a waiting period in some states there isn’t but A LOT of people have guns who wouldn’t pass a back round check. so they would not come forward. in many cases the things are are suggesting already exsist. non register or licensed fire arms are confiscated and the owners are subject to jail time. They (guns) are still everywhere.
to tell you the truth, IF i wanted a gun right now, I’m sure i could get one on the street. Your idea would work if so many criminal minded people didn’t already have access to guns.
Honestly dude, keep thinking. a gun owner who understands how dangerous guns are and recognizes the need to keep them out of some people’s hands could be a powerful voice. Right now there is too much of “guns for all and we will all be safe” or ‘guns for no one and we will all be safe”
Remember if you have a gun, it only keeps you safe if you can shoot first.

Something is going on in Missouri. The Police got an emergency alert. Seems the Glen Becks are getting some traction. The Police are on alert for “militia groups”! Also, anyone who has a Ron Paul bumper sticker, anyone who talks about the New World Order, or who talks about nationalizing the banks, especially the Federal Reserve. They claim the Consitution is gone and they are to “watch” anyone to carries one.

Now I think we all should look at this from a middle of the road point of view.

I support the constitution including the right to bear arms. I support nationalizing the banks and in particular the Federal Reserve. I dont have a Ron Paul sticker on my car…but I believe Ron Paul to be a real patriot. Several people called the Missouri Police Dept, to determine if this was a fake…the police didnt deny any of it.

So tell me what is up with all this bullcrap!

These people hate Glen Beck and think he is a lunatic. But many Texans and liberaterians believe Ron Paul is great (so do I),one of the only real patriots left in the republican party.

  148. a. price says:

wait is this for real? site your source. im not calling you a liar…. but REALLY?

  149. a. price says:

so the terrorists are actually going to act?

  150. liberalgeek says:

David – your suggestion misses the point that the “2A or die” crowd like to make. The guns should never be registered with the government. The government is who the guns are to be turned on, in case of tyranny or invasion. The guns are to protect them from the government (and potential invaders).

This is their argument, not mine. Mine is that if you have to go against the US Military with your squirrel gun, I hope you have a last will and testament.

  151. a. price says:

LG, that is why the think they should be allowed to own military grade weapons and stockpile them and form militias.
btw LIZ WTF!?!?! if cops have really been put on alert for tonight, site your source this is serious shit

  152. What in the heck? says:

I can’t believe how polarized this thread is…I don’t think that most of the people who are interested in Beck’s event are the type of people who are stockpiling weapons and planning on forming rogue militias. I am attending the event because I am concerned about the state of the nation and the out-of-control federal government, not because I’m waiting for a leader to tell me it’s OK to go and blow up the local government building. And no, liberalism isn’t a sickness and hence doesn’t need “curing”. People can have different opinions and you can find “facts” to back up whatever opinion you choose to follow. This is the problem with where the 2-party system has taken us. I haven’t read one level-headed thing on this thread yet, and now I’m outta here.

  153. Just Me says:

I think that a good portion of Glenn Beck’s audience are people with good intentions. The problem is that there are undoubtedly SOME that aren’t, and probably feed into his rhetoric of fear (which is what this all is-fear mongering). God forbid even ONE of those people acts out due to Beck’s ideas. It’s seriously dangerous. And honestly, that scares me more than anything Beck preaches about on a daily basis. If someone does something like that, it will be on Beck’s shoulders.

  154. Alice says:

Wow…I’ve never actually read one of your liberal, self-congratulating comment forums before. It just reinforces what the moderate, hardworking and excuse me for bringing the common person in, but blue collar, American has suspected for some time. You guys loath the Constitution, you must have always had some adult tell you that you are perfect just as you are, and you couldn’t survive a crisis without a latte machine and designer water. Dear God (capital G), what have we come to…your grandparents would be so ashamed of you people.

  155. jason330 says:

    Alice,

My Grandfather protested against the Pennsylvania Railroad so that he and other workers could have a Saturday afternoons off.

You know about as much about what he would think as you know about what it means to be an American.

  156. Alice says:

    Hi Jason,
Really? I admire your grandfather — times have been hard for laborers, but the strong have made it on their own dime. My ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War. Now, their XXXXX (whatever the count is 🙂 great grand-daughter is in the position of defending the very principals they fought for back then. Who would have thought we would have reverted back so far. I think they would be a)appalled that we’ve thrown away the greatest gift ever bestowed upon mankind and b) proud that their descendants (well, that would be me as my sibs are kind of clueless as much as I love them) are still willing to stand up for what they fought (and died) for.
I know my late father would be right beside me – he was a patriot and a free thinker back in the days (FDR) when that was not “cool”. My mother’s family immigrated here from Ireland – poor, uneducated, and desperate. We succeeded ON OUR OWN, without government “help”. My husband and I started with literally nothing and worked our way up inch by inch. Most of our lives we struggled, and now, when we finally have enough, and we are paying cash for everything, INCLUDING COLLEGE FOR OUR TWO CHILDREN (well, until the market crashed and our funds went to hell) this government thinks we have too much. How should we feel about this? Think about it, please. You either need to re-examine your family history, or read some history, or realize that Americans who actually work their way up in this world – on their own – are very, very resentful of those who would rob us of our hard-earned gains. But, you sound like a nice, reasonable guy…so thanks for the comment… we’d probably be friends in the USS of Vermont 🙂

  157. anon says:

this government thinks we have too much.

What policy exactly are you speaking of, or are you just blowing smoke?

It is Republicans who fetishize the virtue of frugality for working people.

  158. Alice says:

Final thought— if both sides displayed less anger and disrespect (I’m probably as guilty as any) and tried to work on fixing this mess, we might actually be successful. The political machines on both sides can’t have this. We might wake up and toss ’em both…

  159. Alice says:

Okay, never mind. Anon, you are a fool. Do you have a J-O-B? BTW, I’m a nice lady with a big, loaded gun I know how to use. So do my kids. And my husband. And I’m trying to get the dogs aim straightened out.

  160. anon says:

Ok, fine. So y0u will be spending your Obama tax cut on ammo. I get it.

  161. liz says:

It was on Alex Jones last night. My friend called me and said you gotta listen to this! I couldnt believe what they were saying. It was only when people were calling from California, Washington and other states, who challenged the information and made the calls to the Police dept. themselves. They started reporting what the cops told them. Only one cop Capt. Hull actually gave his name after he stated what the “alert” said.

  162. Alice says:

Haha! Thanks for having a sense of humor, Anon!
No, I will actually not be getting a tax cut – yet. They haven’t impoverished us that much, but there is still time. I just went to the ammo store today, so I’m all set for the onslaught. Sorry I called you a jerk…

  163. liz says:

If you actually believe in the Constitution, “we the people are the government”.

  164. Alice says:

Yes, Liz, we are. Let’s get back to that… the government (local, state, federal) works FOR us. I am a member of my local selectboard. For those non-New Englanders, that’s the local governing board, and we still have Town Meeting every March. In our small VT town, believe me, I will not approve or vote for anything that I can’t sit at town meeting and defend, face to face, to my friends and neighbors on the first Saturday in March. That’s how you keep accountability in local government – pure democracy. And then, we all have lunch and put away the chairs and tables together. Hmmmm. What are we missing on the national level. Oh, yeah. Accountability and connectivity.
Maybe “crazy dude” Beck has an idea, after all.

  165. liz says:

Alice: where did you get your ammo…since it comes from Israel…supposed to have a number on it…check it out.

  166. liz says:

Alice what we are missing is the citizens seat at their table. We have corporate lobbyists telling “them” what to do, over ruling the “we” again and again. We dont have a democracy, we have a “corporatacray”. I am still waiting for K street to be leveled.

  167. Alice says:

Well, that’s a good point. Actually, it’s made it Seoul, S. Korea – just checked. But as long as it works, I’m okay — wish is was USA, though. I’ll talk to my local gun shop guy… Hey, you libs aren’t so bad, once we get to talking 🙂
Life lesson #5594949. Can we turn this national?

  168. Alice says:

Just got your last post, Liz. Well, what do you know, we agree again!! Are you an undercover Vermonter?

  169. liz says:

#63 robert….tell us how your conversation with God is working out. If you believed in the Consitution you would know that there is no state religion. Religion is a private matter, it is the constitution however that holds us all together. Or are you one of the nuts who believes the founders, founded a “christian” nation? When it comes to issues regarding the country, your Bible, Torah or Kuran have no place in these conversations. Separation of church and state, get it.

  170. liz says:

No, I am not an under cover anything. I am the daughter of an native american father who said, “never trust the government”, I never have. Asking about those bullets, cuz my son has been trying to buy some 30.6 shells and was told “why do you need them, its not hunting season”.

  171. liz says:

Alice I never refer to myself as a liberal. From my view, liberals talk a lot, act on nothing. I much prefer the label “progressive”.

  172. Alice says:

EEekkk. Don’t know where you live, but that’s kind of a scary question. In VT, we have very few gun laws, including carrying concealed, which may in part account for our low crime rate. You don’t know who has a firearm in their car, pocket, purse, backpack ( not on campus, hopefully). We don’t ask who has a gun, and no one volunteers the info for the most part. It’s kind of assumed… I guess that would be scary in some places where folks are less neighborly. Of course, this is VT. We only have about 600,000 people. Most of them honest. Gee, I never thought when I posted on this site – feeling kind of cranky, that I’d find nice people!
Just goes to show…we’re not that far apart. Just a few degrees, as my best friend (lib) and I always say….

  173. Alice says:

Sorry, behind on posts. Okay, get the non-liberal thing… But I have issues with progressives…since we’ve unleashed Bernie Sanders on the country. If you like him, well, that’s your choice. I personally find him scary, if personally very nice.

  174. Robert says:

    #171 Liz.

It was George Washington who said, without a religious and moral people, this country will fail.

Oh, I hate to burst your “Progressive” “Liberal” Beliefs but this nation was founded on Christian morals.

So to answer your question I am one of those nuts.

Those who infringe on any rights in the Bill of Rights deserve to die a trators death.

  175. anon says:

this nation was founded on Christian morals.

… but secular laws. That was the great insight of the establishment clause. They were religious, but they weren’t dummies.

Those who infringe on any rights in the Bill of Rights deserve to die a trators death.

If only we could get the Second Amendment supporters to go after the Fourth Amendment violators… (politically, of course…)

  176. Robert says:

If liz says that this nation was not founded on Christian morals then I have no reason to be here.

  177. anon says:

this nation was founded on Christian morals

This statement simply recognizes that Christian morals are based on secular morals.

Jesus Christ didn’t invent morality; He gave people permission to follow it in their own lives despite and apart from their government.

So saying “this nation was founded on Christian morals” is equivalent to saying “this nation was founded on secular morals.”

  178. xstryker says:

My ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War

Talk about self-congratulatory. My ancestors crossed the Red Sea and got the Bible from Moses. How ya like them apples?

  179. xstryker says:

No, I will actually not be getting a tax cut – yet. They haven’t impoverished us that much, but there is still time.

So your household is wealthier than mine, yet you claim I don’t understand hard-working Americans? What a crock of shit.

  180. xstryker says:

Those who infringe on any rights in the Bill of Rights deserve to die a trators death.

Really? Including the right to a trial by jury and due process under the law? Methinks your statement is contradictory.

“This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it.” – John Adams

“The Christian god can easily be pictured as virtually the same god as the many ancient gods of past civilizations. The Christian god is a three headed monster; cruel, vengeful and capricious. If one wishes to know more of this raging, three headed beast-like god, one only needs to look at the caliber of people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes: fools and hypocrites.” – Thomas Jefferson

Seems our Founding Fathers weren’t so enamored of those “Christian Morals.”

“…The Parson and the Pedagogue lived much together, but were eternally disputing about government and religion. One day, when the Schoolmaster had been more that commonly fanatical and declared if he were a Monarch, He would have but one Religion in his Dominion. The Parson cooly replied ‘Cleverly! You would be the best man in the world, if you had no religion.’

Twenty times, in the course of my late reading, have I been upon the point of breaking out, ‘This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it!!!’ But in this exclamatic I should have been as fanatical as Bryant or Cleverly. Without religion this world would be something not fit to be mentioned in polite company, I mean Hell…”

[ comments from the site owner, not Hey!]
I have seen many people quote John Adams as saying that “This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it!” — but notice that this is taken severely out of context and that Mr. Adams is relaying his frustration with those who fight between denominations, supposing that their particular Christian denomination is best and should be the only one [as the Schoolmaster is noted as saying in the above letter]. John Adams believed that government should never impose a denomination/particular religion upon the people. And in his frustration he said that he almost wished there to be no religion, but this of course was not his true wish. His true wish was for peace between denominations and lack of governmental pressure to adhere to a certain denomination. As he said above, “Without religion this world would be something not fit to be mentioned in polite company, I mean Hell…”

  185. a. price says:

Deeply religious was much different than. they were smart enough to keep it out of public policy.

  186. David says:

Here is a snipit from Article III of the 1780 Mass. Constitution that Adams wrote. “As the happiness of a people, and the good order and preservation of civil government, essentially depend upon piety, religion and morality; and as these cannot be generally diffused through a community, but by the institution of the public worship of God, and of public instructions in piety, religion and morality: Therefore, to promote their happiness and to secure the good order and preservation of their government, the people of this commonwealth have a right to invest their legislature with power to authorize and require, and the legislature shall, from time to time, authorize and require, the several towns, parishes, precincts, and other bodies politic, or religious societies, to make suitable provision, at their own expense, for the institution of the public worship of God, and for the support and maintenance of public Protestant teachers of piety, religion and morality, in all cases where such provision shall not be made voluntarily.”

Adams understood that you need religious moral influence in laws and public policy, but he also understood that you don’t mandate religion. That is something only the hard left seems to stumble over.

  187. a. price says:

now now, you are forgetting the mega churches who try and influence their congregation’s votes for right wing wingnut politicians

  188. David says:

It is funny that out of 250 or so founders that the 4 least evangelical are quoted as representing all of them. Even just living on those founders, the secular left loses. They have to distort and twist their sayings in their effort to decieve the American people. The least evangelical of our founders is more religious than the entire movement of anti-religious hysteria. The founders understood that a free society must have a moral basis.

  189. Hey! says:

    and this, pandora:

    http://wiki.monticello.org/mediawiki/index.php/The_Christian_god_is_a_three_headed_monster

This quotation has not been found in any writings of Thomas Jefferson. However, it does bear some slight resemblance to several genuine Jefferson quotations, so it is feasible that the above could be traced back to these. On 8 December 1822, Jefferson wrote to James Smith,

[Hey!’s comments: Go to the site and read for yourself what someone twisted to get the quote you and others have ignorantly used. No slam just fact. The truth is Jefferson is not a champion of the Christian faith, but the quote you posted is an absolute distortion of his position. Our founding fathers were very wise and able to put forward the framework of a country that allows individual free worship and free expression with the idea that the exercise of one’s own freedoms would never bring about the destruction of another person’s freedoms.

Hence, my freedom to worship God does not prevent an atheist from not believing in God. The existance of the name “God” on our nation’s currency and coin, it’s buildings and documents is historical fact; the reference to God by the hundreds of those who founded our nation is also historical fact, and neither historical fact threatens the freedoms of an atheist or a non-Christian.

Jefferson’s personal feelings are not a threat to any Christian’s personal beliefs, but for someone to purposefully twist his words in such a way as to make him hostile towards Christianity… that is inexcusable.
