Charlie Copeland Done With Politics?

Silliness lays on the modern GOP like Jules Joseph Lefebvre’s Odalisque lays on a bunch of pillows.
At times it is tough to tell if that silliness is just an outworking of basic stupidity (Hube), some kind of “too clever by half” strategy (Burris), or a sign that someone has just plain given up (Copeland).
I put [...]

Pre-Filed Legislative Business

Ten bills from the House were pre-filed this week and assigned to House Committees:

HB 75 introduced by Helene Keeley — From the website: “House Bill 75, sponsored by Rep. Helene M. Keeley, D-Wilmington South, would allow competent adults to receive visits in a hospital, nursing home or nursing facility from any person they choose. The [...]

Day 29: Mike Castle’s Betrayal of Delaware

This Rob Tornoe cartoon which originally ran in the The Community News perfectly captures the disconnect between Castle’s words and his actions. Special thanks to Rob for allowing us to reprint it here.

Rush Seeks to ‘Own Women’

Some things El Somnambulo can’t make up. Rush Limbaugh, confronted with polling showing an exceedingly large gender gap in his radio audience , is convening a summit to find out how he can ‘own women’, which, El Somnambulo thinks, should tell you something right there.
Perhaps Limbaugh’s issues stem from quotes like this:
– “She’s actually [...]

Comment Rescue: The Truth Teller Strikes

I just loved how this comment cuts to the heart of wingnut BS.

Truth Teller // Feb 25, 2009 at 5:28 pm

Mike P
I just visited your site and didn’t find it very intelligent. However, I did find it strange that you had a picture of a president who let the terrorist kill 242 United States Marine’s in [...]

Nit Picking Loudell

What’s up with Loudell’s word choices?  Why does he keep saying, “In the aftermath of the Obama speech…”
“Aftermath”  means that which happens after a major event – but it denotes a negative event like a flood or disaster.
Does Loudell really think Obama’s speech was a disaster?

Congratulations Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis!

Lost in yesterday’s excitement was the fact that Hilda Solis was confirmed (finally) to be Secretary of Labor by an 80-17 margin.  In case you don’t know much about her, see this:
This is really good news.

HYPOTHETICAL:
Let’s say you are unemployed (u/e) and your ex-spouse comes to you with a doctor bill asking you to pay half of the $225.00. Let’s then say that you the u/e person reply back saying, “Sorry, love to, I’m not sure if you know this but, I am u/e. I will pay you [...]

Republicans Latest Generality Has A Specific Target

Since voting unanimously against the stimulus bill didn’t provide dividends, and actually ended up hurting them in the court of public opinion, Republicans bravely set out to lay another egg.  Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Spending Freeze!
Also known as the first shot across the bow of  Healthcare Reform.
Do they actually believe they’ll receive [...]

HOMEwork on HR200

There is currently a bill before the house (HR200) that would allow bankruptcy judges to modify terms of abusive mortgages in order to avoid foreclosures. Currently, the mortgage companies are saying, “Fuck you, you signed it, you owe it, we don’t care if the interest rate gets ‘jumped’ to 28%, and we more than [...]

Jindal Not Ready For Prime Time

I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when Bobby Jindal issued the Republican rebuttal, but, one thing’s for sure, I didn’t expect it to be as bad as it was.  And it was really, really bad.
And I’m not alone in my opinion.  The reviews are in, and they aren’t good.
BRIT HUME: “The speech read a [...]

Breaking: Mike Castle Slams Obama Speech

This morning Mike Castle slammed President Obama’s address to a joint session of congress saying that Obama has created a “mystical fund” to save banks.
The GOP loyalists stopped short of calling President Obama’s remarks the ravings of an economic “witch doctor” but it was clear that Castle has signed up to be a part [...]

Reactions to President Obama’s Speech
