CR: Gregg’s Real Reason Not Helping America

Filed in National by on February 28, 2009

Unstable Isotope tipped us off to this bit of news:

President Barack Obama’s former nominee to become commerce secretary, Sen. Judd Gregg, steered taxpayer money to his home state’s redevelopment of a former Air Force base even as he and his brother engaged in real estate deals there, an Associated Press investigation found.

We all thought Gregg was Party First, turns out he was just Me First.

    I’m shocked.

    (not really)

  2. nemski says:

We should shield this post from Donviti as we know how much he holds politicians in such high esteem.

  3. Everyone should read the linked article, particularly towards the end, to see Gregg’s verbal gymnastics trying to explain how his actions are (a) ethical and (b) not a conflict of interest.

This is how these guys think, and, believe ‘Bulo, it’s on both sides of the political aisle.

  4. Unstable Isotope says:

Gregg really did an Obama a favor by bowing out.

    Typical.

What people should be reading is how much the newest Commerce Sec. pick is in the same kind of hot water. Unfortunately it is best read on Michelle Malkin’s blog.

  7. anon says:

Obama FORCED Gregg’s bowing out, no doubt, once this surfaced. That is why Gregg was so strangely glum + pissed + guilty-looking and somewhat reserved in commentary at the time.

Right, everything is better when they’re written by notorious liars.

X, it is pretty stinky stuff, whether the message is from Malkin or not.
Locke will not be a lock for Commerce. Kill the message because of the messanger?

I’ve resigned myself to the fact that there are NO politicians on either side of the aisle without some skeletons in the closet.

  11. Sorry folks but you can be assured if there was any problem the likes of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi would be screaming day and night. There is no issue here.

Maybe Gregg could be like the Treasury Secretary and not pay taxes on this economic gain? Or like Tom Daschle?

What you fail to realize is many people in New Hampshire gained when the former Pease AFB was developed-it is called capitalism. Taxpayer money is used at all levels of government to increase and support economic development. The latest installment of this idea was the huge stimulus bill of almost a trillion $.

Why not check wach of the 4500 earmarks in the stimulus bill and see who in Congress has relatives who will make money off of the runaway spending in the bill.

Did you read that article in the Weekly World News about George W. Bush’s ongoing divorce proceedings? No? Neither did I.
