Can you imagine signing up for the military, then having your President and Vice president lie their way into war and you making less than $25000 a year as well as being sent to Iraq three or four times for 12 to 15 month stretches?

And how much of a raise did President Obama give them for their sacrifice?

  2. Joining the Military is a choice based on many things, the least of all is pay. There are intangible items which draw men and women to serve the country.

Perhaps, you are talking about Democratic Presidents Wilson and Roosevelt who told the country WWI and WWII would be left to Europeans. Total lies. Both Dem Presidents were pushing the country into war behind the scenes.

Obama is not ending an unjust war he is merely moving the military to Afghanistan. As a Commander in Chief he is simply not believable.

50,000 troops remaining in Iraq after 19 months is not withdrawal in 16 months.

It isn’t the change I had hoped for.

  4. xstryker says:

The House passed a bill in 2008 to raise the troops pay by 3.9% instead of the 3.5% that Bush wanted. Bush threatened to veto, and lo and behold, the Senate caved and gave him 3.5%.

As for Obama, maybe you’re a brain-dead moron or have a gaping head wound, but Obama has repeatedly promised not only a pay raise, but to give the VA the funding they need to actually take care of veterans after they return home. How much? I don’t know, the Senate is still debating the budget, which is just a blueprint. The actual amount we won’t know until they start working on appropriations bills, which they can’t do until the budget has been approved. I don’t expect to see the Defense Appropriations bill until April, and in case you’re as ignorant as h., that’s normal. I have no doubt there will be a pay raise for the troops in there.

Stop the presses… Protack, you think we shouldn’t have entered WW2? What the fuck?

  6. h. says:

I think the proposed rate is 2.9%

  7. Truth Teller says:

It appears that Protack would have been an America First er and been with Prescott Bush,Ford and Lindberg all Hitler boosters. And by the way Mikie both of those Dem presidents won their wars.

  9. Susan Regis Collins says:

Since many military families must rely on food stamps, wic, etc. to survive from month to month I’d say a raise is waaaaaay overdue.

After getting out of the navy in 1958 i Got my first job it paid $3,200 a year we bought a house and had a daughter on the way. God only knows how we did it
