Well, we have been calling them the American Taliban for years…

Filed in National by on February 5, 2009

“Insurgency, we understand perhaps a little bit more because of the Taliban. And that is that they went about systematically understanding how to disrupt and change a person’s entire processes. And these Taliban — I’m not trying to say the Republican Party is the Taliban. No, that’s not what we’re saying. I’m saying an example of how you go about [sic] is to change a person from their messaging to their operations to their front line message. And we need to understand that insurgency may be required when the other side, the House leadership, does not follow the same commands, which we entered the game with.”

— Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, in an interview with The Hotline, on how the Republican Party should, amazingly, model its tactics in opposing Obama on the tactics of a terrorist group that harbors Osama bin Laden.

To all who think the media is liberal, ask yourself: how would the media be responding right now if a Democrat said this!

    What the fuck?!

    To use Rumsfeld’s term – “dead-enders.”

  3. Unstable Isotope says:

They are thinking of themselves as an insurgency.

Wait a second…first, it took me about twentity-gajillion-million times to read this to understand what the F he was saying, then it ocurred to me…R’s (I guess that’s me) are Taliban and D’s (you) are Osama Bin Laden-ites.

This guy has a share in how our country is moving.

To paraphrase an overused Tech-cliche… Rep. Pete Sessions is Teh Awesome!

    we’re in trouble…

  5. Delaware Dem says:

    RSmitty…

Sessions is definitely confusing Iraq and Afghanistan, but that is normal since he is a Republican. His main point is that he wants Republicans to act like insurgents. I suppose obstruction is no longer enough for him.

So I guess we have IEDs to look forward to along I-95.

  6. Delaware Dem says:

And if you Republicans want to act like insurgents, go ahead. I will enjoy treating you all like terrorists.

    ; )

  7. anon says:

They are thinking of themselves as an insurgency.

I thought we called them all “terrorists” now.

  8. pandora says:

So now Republicans are pro-insurgents? And for the last eight years insurgents were… ? Evil. The enemy. Terrorists. The one’s to be destroyed at all costs and the ultimate threat to Democracy.

Hmmm… they just might be using the correct term!

  9. RSmitty says:

We’re coming after you, you Bin Ladenites!!!

This is where a :roll eyes: emoticon would come in handy. Instead, I will just use a terrorist-militant-like one: 😈

To all who think the media is liberal, ask yourself: how would the media be responding right now if a Democrat said this!

They would either (a) ignore it, (b) bury it, or (c) say it was George Bush’s fault.

  11. Delaware Dem says:

    RSmitty…

If I had known you were a terrorist I would have detained you at the wine tasting. LOL.

    Me too!

Although if we are doing this, we may have screwed up in clamoring for Obama to close Gitmo.

But sending Rs to Gitmo may have a fun side-effect — the Castro Brothers will extraordinarily rendition themselves to Little Havana just to be rid of their new neighbors.

    ps. For Smitty:

    🙄
    replace roll eyes with roll

  13. Delaware Dem says:

    Sharon…

Wrong again. If a Democrat said this, there would be BREAKING NEWS: Democrat Urges Party to Betray Nation, and calls from every SERIOUS person to denounce the Congressman, followed by calls for his resignation, followed by protests stirred up by Limbaugh and Hannity.

Seriously Shar0n, what is the color of the sky in your world?

  14. Unstable Isotope says:

    DD,

I think we would have to detain his wife instead, just to keep him in line. 😉

Have the Republicans finally jumped off the deep end? First they were taking orders from Rush Limbaugh, then they were taking advice from Joe the Plumber, Author, War Correspondent, then Dick Cheney is on TV hoping for a terrorist attack and now they are comparing themselves to the Taliban! Unbelievable!

  15. RSmitty says:

If I had known you were a terrorist I would have detained you at the wine tasting. LOL.

That would have been the best.punishment.ever. European-wine-boarding. Oh, the humanity.

  16. RSmitty says:

I think we would have to detain his wife instead, just to keep him in line.

Hmm…from the *ahem* many “compliments” spoken to her…through me, I think there were plans to “detain” her!!!

Next they’ll be on the endangered species list. 🙂 Or are they already? 🙂

Bring on the Fairness Doctrine, and shut these lying liars up….make them provide fact not opinion….or call them what they are….simpleton entertainment. Newsmax is reporting that republicans are not going along with anything Obama wants…why do these idiots hate their country, and our workers?
