President Obama won his first battle of his Presidency — he gets to keep his Blackberry. This is good news as this will allow President Obama to increase his circle beyond the bubble that surrounds him at The White House. I know that I can’t go anywhere without staying connected using my iPhone.

I never quite understood why he couldn’t — it just seems crazy that there wasn’t a good technological solution for a highly secure mobile phone.

I just don’t think it is a good idea to keep a president in a bubble. They need to be able to see what’s going on, without the filter of their aides.

Cass, one of the arguments I heard was that his movements could be tracked by the GPS feature, or that his communications could be hacked. I doubt that RIM has a Tempest-grade model on the market. (For those of you who didn’t spend 4 years in military intelligence, Tempest is a MilSpec designation for devices secure from electronic eavesdropping.)
In any case, I think they owe him big for his celebrity endorsement!

And I have already trademarked “Bamaberry”.
