QOD II – Fairness Doctoring

Filed in National by on January 5, 2009

Is anybody talking about the “fairness doctrine” other than celebrated  asswipe, Rick Jensen?

I heard about a second of his show in error, and I think he thinks the fairness doctrine is the new Saddam Hussein.

I didn’t realize people still listened to him. How about that, he still has one!

  2. Unstable Isotope says:

Other celebrated asswipes care about this issue, like Rush Limbaugh. It’s an issue their getting their followers whipped up about and is a non-issue. I’ll guess they’ll declare victory because it won’t be reinstated.

  3. Another Mike says:

I heard a few minutes in the car at lunch with that wingnut woman he had on the phone. Listening to those two, you’d think they’d be forced to listen to Air America all day long. The Fairness Doctrine is not coming back, Rick. Relax.

  4. Mark H says:

Until they have Internet radios in cars (not that far off), Rick will still have listeners 🙂

  5. jason330 says:

When they have internet radios in cars, Jensen listeners will still be 15 years away from having internet radios in their cars.

  6. liz says:

Barbara Comstock…I heard their crap in the car too…google that witch. Fairness Doctrine terrifies these right wing nutjobs…they won’t be able to continue their biased, one size fits all news… state their personal opinion and sell it for news. Of course, if you complain they say “its entertainment”, but the idiot listeners to listen to them don’t know that little fact.

  7. flutecake says:

Even lefty radio doesn’t want it back but it is very entertaining when right-wingers call to decry it!!

I stream internet radio like 1180KPHX in Phoenix (some Jones Radio, some Air America, plus hot weather updates)
This 2005 article explains why we would want it back. Although, I doubt it would ever happen.

  8. I wish I were in the party that created controversies before they happened. I’m jealous.

  9. cassandra_m says:

Conservatives of Jensen’s ilk aren’t comfortable in the world unless they are being victimized by somebody, even if they have to make up that victimization. There’s going to be more of this crap, not less, you know.

  10. Not that it makes any difference, but I’m against the Fairness Doctrine. Marketplace works itself out. That being said, those on the right getting themselves all in a tizzy over this are ridiculously dense.

  11. jason330 says:

The ship has sailed, but I pine for the good old days of the fairness doctrine when TV editorials needed make sense and stations had to make time for rebuttals.

I am an old fogey on that count.

  12. liz says:

Mike: better get some edumacation on that topic. Its not what you think. Its called the “Fairness Doctrine” for a reason.

  13. Fine. Bring back the fairness doctrine. Question: Will Air America have to follow the rules, as well?

  14. jason330 says:

    Sure.

    Sure.

Well, at least they will finally get better ratings, then.

    *rimshot*

We might as well be talking about terra-farming Mars. The Fairness Doctrine lives only in the imagination of asswipe Jensen.

  17. Geezer says:

Think so? See if Liz agrees.
