It Is Official: I’m Still A Liberal

Filed in National by on November 29, 2008

I embrace freedom of choice in personal matters, but tend to support government intervention in the economy as a hedge against rapacious capitalism. I support a government-funded “safety net” to help the disadvantaged, and advocate regulation of business in the public interest.

I tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.

They’ve reduced this internet chestnut quiz to 10 questions.

I’m glad you’re still a liberal. “Delaware Moderate” just doesn’t have the same punch. 😀

  2. jason330 says:

The conservative blurb = Epic Fail

Conservatives tend to favor economic freedom for corporations at any cost, while supporting laws to restrict personal behavior that violate their perverse version of “traditional values.”

They oppose government control of business,
while endorsing government action to defend received “morality” and a nostalgic if not realistic set of traditional family values.

Conservatives usually support a showy but weak
military, oppose bureaucracy where it does not promote the interests of corporations and high income taxes. Conservatives favor a free-market economy, and endorse strong law enforcement with regard to harassing and controlling the underclasses.

  3. Susan Regis Collins says:

I’m a ‘left liberal’ (surprise!) and happy for it!!!!!

  4. RAY K> says:

I,m a left liberal, especially when it comes to the regulation of Capitilism, Don`t listen to the insane bullshit that people like Rick Jensen and hannity and all the other idiots are trying to pass off. Are present and future SERIOUS financial problems can all be traced to deregulation and lack of oversite on all facets of the business world. They basicly legalized shoplifting for the rich.

  5. I have filled this damn questionnaire out so many times, and every time I get a separate response.

It is usually Centrist, or Libertarian leaning Centrist… now for the first time I am Center leaning Left.

I can’t tell my parents, I’ll be written out of the will.

Two weeks from now I will probably be somewhere else.

  6. Your PERSONAL issues Score is 90%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 20%.
    = a Lefty liberal
Social liberal trending fiscally conservative .

  7. Brian, it could be that we are thinking so much more about economic policy these days than is usual. The media pundits are all over the map on how we got into this mess and how best to repair it in the short and long term.
I answered in the maybe catagory for a few economic categories that I may have been more or less strident about last year. I agree with Ray but the question is in the extent to which we manipulate policy for corporate welfare, etc. Who knows what is the best recipe. What we do know is that letting the Rubins of the world accumulate huge rewards for failed corporations with the cushion of Cayman accounts is BAD!

  8. nemski says:

I’m a liberal, she’s a liberal, we’re a liberal, be a liberal. Wouldn’t you like to be a liberal to? Read Delaware Liberal.

  9. mike says:

This quiz scores me as a centrist, but way up in the corner between libertarian and liberal.

  10. pandora says:

I scored as a liberal, but my dot ended up closer to the Libertarian side of the liberal box. Hmmm… not sure what to make of that. 😉

  11. Joanne Christian says:

Smack dead centrist–and defined in the survey as “open minded”.
