It has come to this…

Filed in National by on November 24, 2008

If you want an inside scoop as to what is happening at Dellib, well let me be the first to peel back the curtain enough to see the perv in the corner masterbating frantically.

Delaware liberal cares about you the reader. We care about what you think. In fact we care A LOT ABOUT WHAT YOU THINK IF YOU ARE A POLITICIAN! It has gotten to the point that there are internal discussions at Dellib regarding particular postsn (mostly of mine) that might ruffle the feathers of a few of our readers. Those readers might be you, a politician. If you (said reader) are a POLITICIAN, you should be pretty happy right now.

Why?

Well, because many of the folks right here at Delaware Liberal are trying to get their heads so far up your ass that they won’t tackle certain topics is my guess. They get all squeemish when I post something that is oooooohhhhhhhh shhhhhhhh “R” rated. YIKES!!!! They don’t want me to write the word FUCK or bash the penis diddling priesthood known as the Catholic Church. It might offend you. You might not come to us with a juicy story. You might not…gasp…talk to us or ….gassspppp….respect us.

WE NEED YOUR RESPECT! WE NEED IT! PLEASE DON’T HATE US! WE ARE SORRY!

So listen forgedaboutit…if you are a politician in Delaware and want to influence things just give us a ring. We have several people internally that are willing to kiss your fucking ass and not write about certain topics so you will give us a (ready for this) a YOUTUBE interview

Delawareliberal.net acting like we are keeping it real….

So, it has come to this. If you don’t see me writing here anymore it is because we don’t keep it real anymore and we are too worried about what politicians think of us. We will no longer be serving Delaware only a party in Delaware.

God willing I will still be here and be a part of something that should be for the citizens of Delaware not for beating the opposition to the point that we sacrifice our ethics and become mouthpieces for the Democratic Party of Delaware.

    I heartily dig it, DV.
    Yeppers.

    Progressives…or not? Not-controversial? Kiss-butts?
    How booooooooring that would be.

…of course you are probably pulling my leg here.

  2. delawaredem says:

What the fuck does “keeping it real” mean, anyway? If there is a more tired overused and nonunderstood cliche, I haven’t heard it.

  3. You guys have a governing Board now that you are so big? Or is Mr. Scott still The Man?

  4. anon says:

If as you allude DL is now self-censoring… think how much worse those discussions would be if you had advertisers.

  5. keeping it real to me means not censoring myself because I’m worried that I don’t get invited to a party, an interview or that I will upset my friend that just happens to be a politician…

keeping it real means not holding back because you might offend someone

    anon,

    I don’t self censor myself…to a fault

  6. jason330 says:

Fuck off if you don’t like it.

Nobody is holding a gun to your head.

  7. delawaredem says:

Since Donviti took it upon himself to air our private internal discussions in the public, which now creates serious trust issues, it should be known that each front page contributor controls what they post. There is no censoring. There is no editing, except on the rare occasion where I correct some gramatical errors of Jason’s.

We were discussing in private email whether we should clean up our potty mouths a little bit, not just because we do want to interview and keep in touch with elected officials and candidates, but also because many read us at work and language filters are becoming more common.

And it should be known that the consensus was not to censor ourselves.

Why Donviti felt he had to post this is beyond me.

  8. John Tobin says:

I could be wrong, but I think a total lack of self-censorship results in a total lack of statesmanship which does not promote much consensus building and I am thinking statesmanship & consensus building might come in handy from time to time in politics.
Like I said , I could be wrong.

  9. jason330 says:

    DV –

I stand by my record of calling politicians out. You sound like you are on the rag or something.

    Get a grip.

  10. does this answer your question Nancy?

  11. David says:

DV rarely contributes to the intellectual vigor here because he allows himself to get off on the pointless or go so far over the top. When DV actually tackles the issues, he does so quite well.

Cleaning up the language here just a little would help the arguments. On second thought, don’t change a thing.

I have a feeling DV will come around. I doubt that you all will change radically. You have one of the most successful blogs in the state. It sounds like you all are just talking about being user friendly.

  12. I friend of mine is an aide in the legis and he maintains that he doesn’t read DV’s posts because they too often give him the ‘willies’.
I say to him don’t read DV’s posts then.

But to DD, if I were a boss and was so concerned about what my staff might be doing on my computers at work that I installed detection/blocking or whatever software, I wouldn’t be the kind of boss who approved of my staff dawdling on political blogs during work time. Just sayin’.

  13. DV, yes, sadly it does. I was honestly hoping that you were pulling my leg. I guess the answer is self-evident.

  14. delawaredem says:

Precisely, David, but our decision was to not change a thing. A fact DV ignores. And then he goes and posts this, the mother of all overreactions and fabrications.

  15. h. says:

    Good fucking riddance !!!!

  16. Tyler Nixon says:

I can see the passage someday in the “Unauthorized History of Delaware Liberal” :

“The meeting was tense, with hushed tones and that sense of loss that always hangs over an organization that has outgrown, or just betrayed, the rebellious unafraid iconoclasty on which it was forged.

Finally word came down from the old Prestwick House. It was perfunctory, but understood as final : “Get rid of ‘im.”

The meeting broke up immediately as the wheels were set in motion. They were never to be the same again….”

    L.O.L!!!

Sorry kids, but this is too funny. I would say it is about as real as you can keep it around here (whatever the hell that means…ooops, can I write ‘hell’ here in the ‘Neo DL’??))….

  17. Roy Munson says:

well, next drinking liberally night is going to be awkward….

  18. You spell potato I spell potatoe

sounds like that politicians are in favor of me going away anyhow. so you guys will be just fine with your base 🙂

  19. Roy Munson says:

are you just having a hissy fit, or are you quitting for real?

either way, congrats! This is the first DV post I’ve bothered to click on in months.

  20. delawaredem says:

    Who knows, Roy.

Either DV is having a bad day, or this was planned all along. Perhaps DV has a better offer somewhere. Perhaps he needed an invented controversy to make it all dramatic.

  21. RSmitty says:

I have a feeling DV will come around.

    Riiiiight.

Maybe you all should see what it was that truly set DV off instead of further bashing him down in this thread. Maybe…just maybe something wasn’t explained correctly. That is the SHITTY (sorry, couldn’t help myself) thing about email: the authors frequently take too many assumptions on their own interpretations and fail to consider the readers’ interpretations.

You all have far too much mileage to dismiss DV over this post, as incindiary as it is. Try to figure it out instead of telling him to FUCK off.

  22. I understand the NSFW measures being a concern.

Maybe a name change to “DonNSFWsquishviti”?

  23. nemski says:

Donviti wrote: You spell potato I spell potatoe

Nah, you got it wrong, you spell it, potafuckingtoe.

  24. Roy Munson says:

Little was left for translation of his post. he opened the door and invited everyone in to bash him. Looks to me like that is what they are doing.

Be careful what you ask for.

  25. really dd?

I think we have a bit of a responsibility to be as inclusive as possible. That means not giving people excuses to write us off as a bunch of yahoo’s as well as being the kind of place that politicians don’t mind being affiliated with.

  26. delawaredem says:

RSmitty, what truly set DV off was the mere discussion of cleaning up our posts. The mere discussion. It didn’t matter that the consensus was that we shouldn’t really censor ourselves.

DV is not the victim here. Obviously, he can take care of himself.

  27. RSmitty says:

    Hah…just caught something…

So, this is all over “cleaning up” the site, right?

In comment number two, DD opens up with:
What the fuck does “keeping it real” mean, anyway

Then my boy Jason in #6:
Fuck off if you don’t like it

This is going to be one tough edict! 😛

  28. and we don’t even have advertising….

  29. Roy Munson says:

    Then who’s AgoraNet?

  30. delawaredem says:

    really DV?

I throw an “f” bomb here and there, but only in my rants.

That should be allowed, because if we are not allowed to curse once and a while we might as well work for the News Journal.

  31. delawaredem says:

RSmitty, this whole thread is one huge rant.

  32. guess I’m not talking about you then dd….I can name names if that would be easier for you.

it’s not about you DD. It isn’t self created either. We will always have nemski’s

  33. RSmitty says:

I think I can tell from these comments where much of this turned sour:
…as well as being the kind of place that politicians don’t mind being affiliated with…

Basically, I think if you are suggesting you clean this up for the sake of favortism with politicians, well, you just figuratively asked DV to stick his thumb up his own ass and enjoy it.

  34. delawaredem says:

    More like a KGB front.

  35. I throw an “f” bomb here and there, but only in my rants.

That should be allowed, because if we are not allowed to curse once and a while we might as well work for the News Journal.

your honor? does DD not imply he is ok with watching what he says in the above statement?

    DING, DING, DING…

no going back from that one if you ask me.

  37. delawaredem says:

There are 2 places where this turned sour:

    1) It was a discussion. No decisions were made. Indeed, from my understanding, the consensus was that we shouldn’t change.

    2) The private internal discussion was then overexaggerated into the monstrosity of a post above us, and as a consequence, all of DL has to wonder if any private email with DV is safe.

  38. jason330 says:

    DV,

This is your idea of fucking off ?

  39. kavips says:

Lol. In my humorous fashion, all I will say is Wikipedia has now chosen this exchange to add to their definition of “echo chamber”…..

  40. delawaredem says:

What I was saying there is that I want to be free to curse when I feel it is needed.

  41. June says:

When I see all the foul language on here (esp. from Donviti), it makes me think of a bunch of high school boys trying to act grown-up. It’ s a sign of immaturity, in my opinion. (I don’t mean the occasional F word.)

It adds nothing to the dialog — or to being a “Liberal.” In fact, it makes Liberals look like a bunch of jerks.

  42. This is your idea of fucking off ?

keeping it real actually and airing my dirty laundry all in one …. 🙂

    as nemski said:

I suffer from impulsive narcissistic processes.

  43. Tyler Nixon says:

Hey, ‘viti, I hear there’s a real-keepin’ libertarian blog in Delaware that’s been taking off….they won’t sell their souls for invitations to elite cocktail parties with Delaware’s 3rd-rate intelligentsia and its 4th-rate class of politicians (note : any word with “intelligent” in it I use very VERY VERY loosely in any Delaware context).

  44. Steve newton couldn’t wouldn’t hold my junk if he had a gun to his head

  45. Tyler Nixon says:

“It adds nothing to the dialog — or to being a “Liberal.”

    Kinda like this blog……

    (Of course, I kid).

  46. Tyler Nixon says:

Steve newton couldn’t wouldn’t hold my junk if he had a gun to his head

    Translation, DV?

    (Sorry, I don’t speak Jive.)

  47. Joe M says:

    (Sorry, I don’t speak Jive.)

    Classic!

  48. RSmitty says:

Tyler – I think he said Newton would have to sell his ideological soul to bring DV in and there is no chance in hell of that happening.

That would be like asking DV to clean up his act so politicians would feel more welcome…

    …it ain’t gonna happen.

  49. man you are good…

you should write here! there is a spot opening up at 5pm

  50. delawaredem says:

And now begins the DV “Will he stay or will he go?” drama.

  51. RSmitty says:

Nah. I actually feel for you, even though you probably don’t need it. I really did listen during those extended coffee breaks way back when. It made it fairly easy to figure out the painfully obvious. All the other arguing was the weeds covering up the forest.

Let me know what happens, going forward, tho.

    persona-non-grata.(blogsite).com, by DV.

  52. – couldn’t wouldn’t hold his junk – now that is HS locker room.

June has delivered some pretty odious and offensive missives launched from these threads as I recall, cursing or not.

  53. Roy Munson says:

Why wait until 5PM? Just leave if you’re going to leave.

  54. You are my monkey munson. Remember that

  55. Roy Munson says:

    I’m just keepin it real

  56. liberalgeek says:

Not sure whether to laugh or spit. I am sort of amused that we could ever harness the ‘viti.

Some people, I am certain, don’t read DL of associate with us because of DV’s posts. But in his absence, they will have to find other reasons to hate on us.

    We abuse Tom Carper
    We pound on Harris McDowell
    We attack Ruth Ann Minner
    We smackdown John Atkins

There are plenty of excuses for why politicians do and will always avoid us. It is not unlike the fact that Mike Matthews is having trouble getting politicians on his show. If I were more of a geek, we would allow readers to filter out their view of the site. But that ain’t going to happen.

I hope that this is just a brain fart and not a Yoko Ono moment.

  57. Von Cracker says:

I’ll take DV’s spot. I have an extensive vocabulary and know how to use spellcheck!

    i kid..i kid…no, wait…seriously…

    😛

  58. you were offered to write multiple times schmuck!@

  59. Von Cracker says:

I’m just not in to the local thang….

    National, International, Sports, and Music…

Plus, I could never fit into your panties.

  60. liberalgeek says:

You might fit now they are in such a knot…

  61. Von Cracker says:

    😆

  62. Suzanne says:

This post/thread is beginning to feel like part of Cher’s 125th “Farewell” concert and “come back” tour mixed in with some Michael Jackson monkey business. . .

  63. crap says:

good grief. get a grip, people. and grow up, please!

  64. Joanne Christian says:

WWWWHHHHHAAAATTTT???? I leave for 2 hours, come back to find out you got DV all upset, and now 66 neighbors have to comment!! How many times does it have to be said “What goes on in this house, stays in this house!!!?” DelDem–quit making excuses, you know the extent of DV’s vocabulary, and you’re teasing him.
Jason–you are a little instigator, who just has to keep it going, and let all the neighbors like Smitty and Nancy and Tyler over to join the yellfest. Nemski, thank you for behaving like the visiting cousin, who kept it light, and you Liberal Geek who tried to mediate somewhat in all this fray. Where are those girls? Pandora? Cass? Did they run for cover or sagaciously stay out? Ah, they were raised smart….such ladies (no offense). Now DL, please put this aside. I don’t want to hear any talk of Don Vamos, and the issue of censoring. If he only knows 4 letter words, then we will understand 4 letter words. It’s his post, and he can say it any way he wants. If I only look at the art I like, how do I know I like it? Now Hef, how’s that new job going? Long day huh? DL give him some room. Get some sleep Hef–I’ll send some twins over later. And you all better HOPE Kavips keeps you out of the round-up. Good night.

  65. nemski says:

crap wrote good grief. get a grip, people. and grow up, please!

    Well, you’re a poopy head.

  66. xstryker says:

See, DV’s gotta stay ‘cuz the righty punks would just love to see him go, as you can see above. And so would Tom Carper – reason enough to have DV as the unchained pitbull.

  67. FSP says:

This has got to be the most unique thread in Delaware blogosphere history.

  68. I finally took the time to sit down and read through all this shit and I’ve come up with a solution. Can we do a therapy roundtable on DTR with the involved players?!?!?!

DV, I’d love to do a call-in tomorrow!

  69. delawaredem says:

Oh Lord. No, Mike. We have decided to get DV drunk Wednesday and drop him in the Christina River.

Woops, I am told that due to the unfreezing process I have no inner monologue. Did I just say that aloud right now?

  70. Tyler Nixon says:

“We have decided to get DV drunk Wednesday
and drop him in the Christina River.”

    So it IS true.

    The word DID come down.

    The wheels ARE in motion.

At DL, “get rid of him” means Rasputin treatment.

    Dastards.

  71. I love me some Joanne Christian! You go girl!!!!!

  72. Joe M says:

    “Dastards.”

Tyler, either you typoed that, or the Scooby Gang needs their vocabulary back.

  73. Tyler Nixon says:

    No typo, Joe.

Haven’t you heard? DL is now rated G.

  74. xstryker says:

Tyler, DL is unchanged. We sure did get a lot of traffic out of this drama, though.

  75. RSmitty says:

…and let all the neighbors like Smitty and Nancy and Tyler over to join the yellfest.

But…but…but…I was getting your boy’s, Hef, back. BTW, he needs you to shave it. Verrrry hairy.

  76. Maria Evans says:

You all need to come on the air with me and Mike and we’ll work this all out…we have a couch….

  77. you only have one phone line at that cheap ass radio station!

  78. rob says:

There is no censoring. There is no editing, except on the rare occasion where I correct some gramatical errors of Jason’s.

    (you spelled grammatical wrong…)

Anyway. I don’t expect that DV will tone it down or gain anyones respect. He is what he is, take it or leave it.

And saying their is no censoring or editing here is laughable. There’s plenty of it, but only of commenters you folks disagree with.
