This came in through the tip line. Who knows how valid it is…
Jack has selected a chief of staff. Two excellent sources confirm that it’s Dennis Rochford, republican. The talk was out yesterday at Return Day
Dennis Rochford is a pompous ass. If true, maybe Jack is working a good cop/bad cop thing?

Comment by FSP on 7 November 2008 at 4:37 pm:
Also worth mentioning: Rochford was Carney’s 2000 opponent for Lt. Governor.
Comment by jason330 on 7 November 2008 at 4:49 pm:
As connected as you are, I’m sure you’ve gone on many fishing trips with him.
Comment by FSP on 7 November 2008 at 4:50 pm:
I don’t really fish.
And by the way, you don’t look like Gingrich. But you do sort of look like Ed Osborne.

MUTHA FU….

“Dennis Rochford is a pompous ass.”
Oddly enough, that’s how I remember him too.
Comment by G Rex on 7 November 2008 at 4:54 pm:
Jason, it’s because Jack Markell is secretly a Republican, and you dumb Dems fell for our fiendishly clever plan. Bwah hah hah hah!!!
Comment by table lamp on 7 November 2008 at 4:55 pm:
amen G Rex. I’ve been trying to tell them that for months.
Comment by jason330 on 7 November 2008 at 4:56 pm:
Mis,
More common ground.
G Rex,
A diabolical plan indeed.
Comment by jason330 on 7 November 2008 at 4:57 pm:
You guys are a hoot. You sound like Jensen trying to claim that Bush is a liberal.
Comment by Randy Nelson on 7 November 2008 at 5:02 pm:
The return of table lamp!! Welcome, hottie!
Comment by Mike Matthews on 7 November 2008 at 5:53 pm:
Again, that was Mike Matthews’ comment above. Damn these computers!
Comment by Maria Evans on 7 November 2008 at 6:44 pm:
Markell said we’d know Monday, I’ll try to get the audio up.
Comment by El Somnambulo on 7 November 2008 at 8:00 pm:
El Somnambulo finds this almost impossible to believe. Wasn’t Markell’s election supposed to herald the disintegration of ‘the Delaware Way’?
In fact, El Somnambulo does not believe it. He thinks that Brian Selander will be the Chosen One.
And, while the Beast Who Slumbers HATES to agree with El Junior Burrito, Jason DOES look something like Ed Osborn.
Comment by arthur on 7 November 2008 at 8:27 pm:
Dinnis Rochford? I think my parents voted for him at one time.
Comment by anon on 7 November 2008 at 8:49 pm:
Markell pushed the “I’m so approachable” personality to groups dissed and ignored by Minner and her chief of staff. So what’s with him picking Dennis Rochford for gatekeeper? He’s pro-business, pro-Chamber all the way. Another one of the good ol corporate boys. What’s that about Jack? Don’t go there, you need a gatekeeper the public can trust, if you want them to support you. Call Missy, Jack. She could use a new challenge. And you could use someone who isn’t perceived as a corporate toady.
Comment by jason330 on 7 November 2008 at 9:05 pm:
El Som,
If true this would seem to be a snub of Selander. Although I spoke to him the other night and he didn’t seem to be expecting anything.
Comment by Quiet observer on 8 November 2008 at 9:58 am:
Tells the old line d’s to stuff it. Labor is the real loser this go around
Comment by George on 8 November 2008 at 11:23 am:
Rochford is an ass, a Republican, and Carney’s opponent in 2000. It is a total slap in the face of John, who ran an above-board campaign against Jack, against advice to do otherwise. If they had rolled out that Nextel stuff then, John would be governor today. They didn’t, because John is better than that.
Rochford is a Republican – and I’m surprised that Jason et al here appear to have no problem with this. If this was Tom Carper or any other Democrat – you’d be screaming and crying bloody murder. But just like Jack’s deep ties with the DLC, they are ignored.
Jack has to pay back all of the Republicans and Centerville business types who switched over and voted for him in the primary. That’s what this is about.
As for Brian Selander… joke.

G,
This is an internet rumor you are talking about. Forgive me for not spazzing out.
Comment by FSP on 8 November 2008 at 12:04 pm:
Jason — It’s way more than an Internet rumor. We broke it on-air yesterday based on four or five good sources who say it will be so.
It’s not 100% until Jack issues the release, but it’s in heavy rotation in political circles.
Comment by Susan Regis Collins on 8 November 2008 at 4:41 pm:
Awwwww…..take it back , Jack.
It’s bad enough we are forced to see ‘Rocky’ drone on regularly on Channel 12….more than that and parts of DE will want to join NJ and/or MD.
