  1. weshallsee says:

yes I concede, Obama has won. I will say he did run an excellent campaign.
Now the dems have no excuse to make this country better as he and the dem party has promised. You will have a majority in the senate as well as the house. So you can get your agenda through.
Lets see if you dont get so cocky and try to ram it through. Lets see if Barack is truely the one to reach across the isle. That remains to be seen.
There should be no excuces, non what so ever why we should look back in a year and see the economy, the war in Iraq, Afganistan and the energy crisis all SHOULD be looking better than they are today.
Lets see if we truely are better off in a year. I wont cry foul, I would complain of voter irregularties etc. I will take the loss and move on to make this a better country.
    God bless us all.

  2. Ryan Mc. says:

Tell George W. not to let the door hit him on the way out.

  3. Puzzler says:

This is the most gracious concession speech I’ve ever heard.

  4. Liz says:

In ONE year Obama must correct the horrible failed foreign and domestic polices of 8 years of the Bush admistration? Give the guy at least 4 years to get us back on track. With the trillions of debt the republicans left this country, 2 wars, Katrina, Wall street crash, pensions in the toilet it may take decades to undo all that moron did to our country.

  5. Matt J says:

I agree. Let’s hope that BHO and the dems actually accomplish something useful. Let’s hope that he unites America and will not be the typical partisan BHO.

It’s a huge gamble that our nation took to elect this guy with the problems we have. I’m not bitter, but I would feel much safer with Hillary in the White House.

God bless us all. We need it now more than ever.

  6. Progressive Mom says:

Finally, it’s my country too. Me, a liberal, mom of a disabled kid (who will require spreading the wealth for him to survive). Me, a Catholic who believes that children deserve a good quality of life after they are born. Me, a former Delawarean, who actually interviewed Joe Biden for The Review (UD) during his first run for the Senate.

It’s my country. I have always loved it. But I have never been prouder.

  7. Dorian Gray says:

In 1619 the first Africans were brought to Jamestown as slaves. That was their introduction to this continent. This is one of the greatest days is US history. And by a LANDSLIDE.

    Congratulations. Yes. We. Did.

  8. Unstable Isotope says:

I don’t think we can underestimate how important this election was. We did it! We haven’t solved our problems yet, but we made a big step forward. There’s a lot of challenges facing our nation but I’m hopeful now.

  9. cassandra_m says:

This is so amazing. Perhaps the most important election of my lifetime and we can’t stop working. We have to figure out how to help Obama — and for all of those insisting on reaching across the ailse, I think that the message here is that voters want something done, so it would behoove folks from both parties to work together………..

  10. a. price says:

    this is only the start

  11. Dana says:

The most important duty for conservatives is now to learn a lesson from our friends on the left. As you gave George W Bush no peace, sniped at everything he did, resisted his initiatives and frustrated his programs where you could, so we must do that to Barack Hussein Obama.

Every little scab on the Obama presidency must be picked at, every appointment resisted, every program fought. We will win few of those fights at first, but we’ll win more and more of them as time passes.

  12. liberalgeek says:

Yeah, Dana. I think that was the strategy in 1992 for you versus Clinton. It’s OK, we are ready for you.

  13. nemski says:

I see Dana didn’t listen to President-elect Obama’s speech last night.

  14. delawaredem says:

    Hahaha…

Dana. Please do it. It will guarantee a second term for Barack Hussein Obama.

  15. Dana says:

Nemski: I heard parts of it, and I know that he called for unity and that’s he’d represent all of us, but that’s just fluff; every winning candidate says that. The fact is that he can’t represent all of us, because we have different desires, different interests and different situations. He will have to choose between policies, and his choices will help some people and hurt others; that is always the case.

Bill Clinton ran as a moderate in 1992, governed from the hard left for two years, and got spanked in the 1994 election. It is the conservative goal to have history repeat itself.

  16. Dana says:

One wonders: did y’all just surrender and become Republicans when George Bush won in 2000? Did you give up your principles and vow to go along with the president when he won re-election in 2004?

If you didn’t do those things, why would you be surprised if conservatives don’t roll over and play dead today?

  17. Liz says:

You don’t have to PLAY dead..you are DEAD!

  18. a. price says:

President-elect Barack Hussein Obama (i love saying that) won by a larger majority than bush. (especially the first time when he actually lost) Dana, you have to realize you are in a significant minority. Please by all means continue to question the government and the people running it. However, don’t think for a second you are where “we” were when Bush became president.

  19. Chris says:

“However, don’t think for a second you are where “we” were when Bush became president.”

True. Bush had not promised to destroy the Constitution as Obama has. Bush had not gleefully suggested creating a “civilian national security force equal in stature and funding to the military” hereby known as Obama’s S.S.

Within three years we will have real, not figurative, civil war in this country. The fuse has been lit. You build your own military force, disenfranchise the ligitiment military, and erode the liberties offered under the Constituion…and you have set forth the inevitable.

So continue to celebrate…but you may want to ask yourself….why those that celebrated in the streets the day the towers fell and killed nearly 3,000 Americans are just as celebratory today.

  20. anonone says:

Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and former President Bill Clinton are making very direct arguments to Democratic superdelegates, starkly insisting Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., cannot win a general election against presumptive Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

Sources with direct knowledge of the conversation between Sen. Clinton and Governer Bill Richardson, D-N.M., prior to the Governor’s endorsement of Obama say she told him flatly, “He cannot win, Bill. He cannot win.”

    How’d that work out, Hillary?

  21. shortstuff says:

“True. Bush had not promised to destroy the Constitution as Obama has. Bush had not gleefully suggested creating a “civilian national security force equal in stature and funding to the military” hereby known as Obama’s S.S.”

Where do you get this stuff? It’s amazing that the only thing that you right wingnuts have is “Fear”… Fear him because all of these “Bad” things are going to happen because he’s in there. WHAT HAS YOUR PRESIDENT DONE IN THE LAST 8 YEARS!!! WHAT HAS HE DONE BUT BROUGHT THIS COUNTRY TO IT’S KNEES!

And I think it’s funny that you’re “predicting” a civil war. It’s funny that the only people calling for it are the same people that say that they are “For the people”, “Country First”… Barack isn’t out to change the constitution and if you knew anything about it, he couldn’t change it even if he wanted to. Read up on how that would need to be done in the first place before you start spewing nonesense that the Right keeps placing out there. This is exactly the kind of stuff that needs to go away so that the country can come together.

“So continue to celebrate…but you may want to ask yourself….why those that celebrated in the streets the day the towers fell and killed nearly 3,000 Americans are just as celebratory today.”

And if you sir are insinuating that the fact that the International community is happy that Barack is President, look at your post and again look at the “Fear” that you want to inject. This is why the International community by large despises the US currently is because of this Fear mongering that the boogey man is coming to get us. If you really think that there’s any link then why don’t you ask yourself why YOUR President still hasn’t captured Bin Laden? If the GOP, McCain, Todd Palin, Sam the wannabe plumber have all the answers then WHY IS HE STILL AT LARGE?

It’s easier to rule by fear when you have something/someone to keep the people in Fear about.

  22. a. price says:

First of all site your source on this new paranoid claim.. Second you are right bush didn’t SAY he was going to destroy the constitution, he just did it.
It is truly breathtaking to see those of you who lost calling for civil war..
Do you hate America so much that you would want us to kill each other just because Caribou Barbie isn’t the VP? How DARE you compare those cheering Obama to those who cheered Bin Laden what the hell is wrong with you?

  23. cassandra m says:

Awesome response, shortstuff — Chris spends most of his time in a fearful crouch and he needs something to be scared of in order to get organized each day.

  24. Chris says:

“Barack isn’t out to change the constitution”

You need to listen to your own man’s speeches. He said he wants to “free the courts of the heavy burden placed on them by the Founding Fathers”. If in your little “Yes We Can” fog you need translation that is “free them from the Constitution”.

“and if you knew anything about it, he couldn’t change it even if he wanted to.”

Ok…there is no real provision in the Constitution to eliminate it. So he will find another method. Remember all the crap you all spit out about how Bush concocted “national emergencies” to seize the authority to take away your rights? Right method…but it was President 44 that will do that.

Don’t think so? Remember Joke Biden’s little speech “Barak will be tested in 6 months, and Americans won’t like the response, they won’t understand it.” What are you a moron? Right in front of your face and oyu are as blind as a bat….

  25. cassandra m says:

You are still a bitter drama queen, Chris and you need to consult your old history books to know how the Constitution actually gets changed.

  26. Chris says:

“Second you are right bush didn’t SAY he was going to destroy the constitution, he just did it.”

Name one freedom you are denied today that you had in 2000? Go ahead…name ONE!
You talk about Bush destroying the Constitution but nothing has changed. All you can point to is a bunch of scuzzball terrorists, who would gleefully step onto a bus full of your children and blow them to bits, not getting a speedy trial in American court….in time of war.

Worse civil liberty abuses took place under FDR. Remember him…one of YOUR heroes. Love those Japanese American internment camps. That far and away outdid any minor abuses the Bush admin may have made….and those people wern’t actually captured on the battelfield shooting at our men and women and, unlike the animals in Gitmo, most WERE American citizens. So stuff it.

But after 4 years of Obama we will see SIGNIFICANT civil rights abuses. Already the “Fairness Doctrine” is being touted. Sure you will love it because it will put conservative talk radio out of business. But just wait until you disagree with Obama. Don’t think it can happen? Ask the NY Post. They followed Obama faithfully for nearly two years, and yet were thrown off the plane the minute their paper endorsed Obama. Ah…I can just smell the free speech.

  27. a. price says:

are YOU a moron? what Biden quote are you talking about. the one where terrorists will find out he has steel in his spine?
Your world is changing Chris. The people that look different from you that you cross the street to avoid passing on the sidewalk that you fear will take your women.. those liberals you obviously look down on and think you are better or smarter than… all of those people have said in overwhelming numbers.. that we run this country. America is not, (not anymore) a hegemonic oligarchy. be sad if you want, be scared if you want. but don’t spew your misbegotten hate speech.

  28. Chris says:

“you need to consult your old history books to know how the Constitution actually gets changed.”

I know how it is supposed to get changed. And I am sure an attempt will be made to hold form, but if that fails he will have the “civian national security force” ready to ensure the “change”.

  29. a. price says:

poor guy. don’t worry chrissy-poo Rush and Hannity will always be around

  30. cassandra m says:

Jesus, Chris, you are so full of shit. A national security force is not changing the Constitution. Why aren’t you over at the Rush Limbuagh site or wherever they are peeing in their pants over this crap….

  31. Chris says:

“The people that look different from you that you cross the street to avoid passing on the sidewalk that you fear will take your women”

Oh yes….I am a racist. Let me ask you, if Condi Rice had been the Repub candidate…I assume you would not have voted for her. Does that make you a masogynistic racist? Because guess what…I WOULD have voted her. I don’t care about race or gender, but Marxist dictator want-to-bes don’t get my vote.

  32. pandora says:

Psst… Chris is an idiot who lives in La La Land. Out of curiosity, where was his outrage when Bush and Co. trashed the constitution?

  33. Chris says:

“Out of curiosity, where was his outrage when Bush and Co. trashed the constitution?”

Still waiting for someone to tell me when exactly that happened.

  34. a. price says:

iIwouldnt have voted for Condi because I am a sexist … why do ya think I didn’t vote for Hillary… btw I miss that thread. where are all the PUMAs?
