Our favorite Lt. Governor candidate tells us how cool it is to see the Phillies win, and provides some thoughts and a request for help as he wraps up his campaign:

Down To The Wire

As if it could get any better than the Phillies winning the World Series, the 2008 campaign is also nearing an end. I am thrilled that the Phillies won, and the win also made me a little nostalgic for the 1980 team that I saw win the World Series at the tender age of 14.

My idol in 1980 was Phillies shortstop Larry Bowa–I wore his number throughout my Delaware Little League career (such as it was) and played shortstop until my legendary coach Mr. Hanley suggested that I move to a position that more befitted my lateral range, i.e. catcher. What I liked most about Larry Bowa, even as a kid, was that he fought until the very end. That’s how we are finishing out this campaign as well. We will be working until the minute that the polls close. The avalanche of stupid negative ads that the other side has put out against me just makes me more determined to win–and what the Republicans haven’t figured out yet is that those ads are hurting them. These are not ordinary times. People understand that our country and state are in trouble, and they are looking for serious people to get us out of it, not people who flood the airwaves with insults.

I need your help so that we can finish strong, and ensure that the kids and working families of this state are protected. Today is literally (word used in honor of Joe Biden’s visit to Delaware tomorrow) the last day that we can raise money and productively use it for the campaign. I hope you can help us one last time by contributing.

Help Matt to finish his campaign strong — he is one of the best guys out there and he doesn’t have the river of money that his opponent does.

“Man oh Man Copeland’s ads are pissing me off. I thought Charlie was a low-life, but now I know for sure that he is.”

Come do you really think Copeland has a chance?

I’ll try to be nice because your boss might come in here with his personal insults.

Denn shouldn’t of played the Copeland the baby killer crap! Do really think Copeland doesn’t give a rats ass about the health of children?

There is two more Copeland ad that will be rolled out this weekend and they will be crippling for Denn!

Relax is just part of the process and Denn will have to endure much more if elected. Call it boot camp!

    Cassandra,

That was quick. Netroots activism rocks!! $400.00 raised in the blink of an eye.

“Kilroy, still a republican at heart.”

Bullshit ! My vote is Obama and Markell!

I just sick of the bullshit in Dover and the gridlock needs to end!

  7. MJ says:

I’ve already maxed out to both Jack (primary and general) and Matt (general).

  8. Al Mascitti says:

Even as a Phillies fan, I didn’t care for Larry Bowa.

  9. h. says:

Kilroy, you sound like a jilted lover. Nothing nice to say about the guy(Copeland) for months. Then all of a sudden ……

  10. jason330 says:

    Atta’ guy MJ.

    Al,

I’m guessing you were a Pete Rose guy.

  11. kavips says:

    Kilroy,

If Copeland didn’t care about every Delawarean paying 50% less for their electricity…. there is emotional ground to believe he doesn’t care about children either…

The above is a fact.. Copeland tried to keep lower rates from coming to Delaware… He was the go ahead guy in the lynching of Arnette McRae by Lawyer Speck… He was a signatory responsible for telling Russ Larson to vote No…

Against 90% of what Delaware citizens wished…

Anyone who puts corporate profits over the well being of Delaware’s citizens, could certainly put corporate profits over the livelihood of our children’s welfare…

As you well know… on education…he cares nothing for whether or not children learn… he is more concerned with busting the union.

    The shoe fits…

  12. FSP says:

“He was the go ahead guy in the lynching of Arnette McRae by Lawyer Speck…”

    Prove this.

  13. kavips says:

I believe it has already been covered by Dana Garrett (source Karen Peterson) and by Charlie Copeland himself on his self-backslapping interview on WDEL (also covered by DelLiberal.Net…)

  14. FSP says:

Copeland didn’t have the power to authorize the expenditure to hire Speck. The “go ahead guy” was DeLuca, according to Peterson.

Don’t really want to belabor the point. Just kind of growing tired of no one calling you out on the crap you just throw out there.

You see most of you hide behind anonymous and tell Copeland and other legislators D’s and R’s to kiss you ass! But I have no problem telling them to their face they are full of shit! Believe me Copeland knows personally how I feel.

I was looking for Copeland’s support dealing with some of Red Clay’s dishonest bullshit and he wasn’t there for me! I counted on him the most and maybe I was expecting too much.

Where were Matt Denn and Markell in the fight for financial transparency for our schools? Were in the hell were all the f-ing legislators? I am voting for Markell but tell me where is he going to get the money for all these plans?

I broke ranks with the GOP party to stand up for what I believe in and if it takes supporting Copeland as Lt. Governor so that we can shovel Copeland up Jack’s ass to force him to support open transparent government and financial transparency then so be it! I don’t mean to be so disrespectful but it’s about time the needs of the people come first and none of the promises being made can be delivered without money! No disrespect but Denn will bring nothing to the table to move open government and financial transparency.

    kavips

“Against 90% of what Delaware citizens wished…’

So you’re saying Copeland will only get 10% of the vote??

“If Copeland didn’t care about every Delawarean paying 50% less for their electricity…. there is emotional ground to believe he doesn’t care about children either…”

Tell me, who is footing the bill for Bluewater? Are the taxpayers / rate payer subsidizing the wind-farms? Or are the utility companies paying for them out of their profits?

“Anyone who puts corporate profits over the well being of Delaware’s citizens, could certainly put corporate profits over the livelihood of our children’s welfare…”

Wow that’s a loaded one ! Minner is republican ? Look right now I am not a Republican or Democrat I am with the radical party as we need radical change! You guys are asking that I trust you the democrats the same people who put Minner in for a second term know she wasn’t fit or interested to improving Delaware. How many schools could have be equipment with solar panels with the money Minner spent on golf courses? How come Matt Denn isn’t committed to reducing the size government or eliminating prevailing wages! Why should a laborer picking up trash on school construction site be paid more than the teacher’s inside?

“As you well know… on education…he cares nothing for whether or not children learn… he is more concerned with busting the union.’

Charlie Copeland is a clueless fuck in that department. So those of you favor charter schools support Copeland and those of you don’t support Copeland don’t support charter schools? Matt Denn and Markell supports charter schools with “non-union” teachers. So receiving the unions with open-arms then stab them in the back supporting charter schools. At least Copeland wears his colors on the out side!

The bottom-line is the Republicans and Democrats failed the people and children of Delaware! Minner doesn’t count right she was a flute! Carper who signed the DSTP law to appease the business round table is one of the good guys?

Liberalgeek takes a cheap shot at me because the notion of a Markell-Copeland demonstration doesn’t please his political views. What next, registration fees to leave comments?

I just want open transparent government and transparent finances and most of you are concern about you horse wining a race. Pecker-head Copeland is the only one out there taking about open government and financial transparency and Markell and Denn want to keep it so they can deliver their union promises!

Look , I cut you all a break and just stay away from here until after the election and when Denn wins you can come over to my house and bust my chops as I respect you freedom of speech !

  16. Tom S. says:

“If Copeland didn’t care about every Delawarean paying 50% less for their electricity”

I’m going to go ahead and call bullshit. Wind power maybe a good idea but it will not lead to our electric bills being halved.

“Copeland tried to keep lower rates from coming to Delaware”

No he didn’t, he thought the initial deals being proposed weren’t good enough for the state and held out for a better one.

  17. He thought they were good enough at first, Tom. Then he thought they weren’t good (when he realized McDowell et. al. were going to put up a shitstorm of a fight and that if he pissed them off and disagreed too much that some of his bills may never see the light of day). Now he thinks it’s all good. Copeland was a flip before he was a flop before he flipped.

Get it? Or should you take a pill?

  18. Kilroy says:

    Mike Matthews
“Now he thinks it’s all good. Copeland was a flip before he was a flop before he flipped.”

I confused! Copeland didn’t support wind power itself or just the plan proposed? Isn’t part of committee debates to work through disagreements to convince those opposed to come around?

I am still confused as why the consumers have to pay a surcharge to build the wind farms? I agree 100% with alternative energy but I feel if each home was equipped with solar power the direct impact would be savings to that homeowner and unused electricity would go back to the grid. We’re building wind power aka power plant for the power company to charge us back for something we paid to build.

To speculate Copeland will cost us 50% on our electric rate 20 years down the road is out there because surely advancement is alternative energy will impact future prices based on consumption.

Don’t get me wrong Copeland is a peckerhead however, he put legislation out there to address open government and financial transparency that had some bipartisan support. The democratic leadership locked the legislation in the desk drawer. My, point is we bitch about events 20 years down the road but have our heads up our asses about issues impacting us today! Our state agencies are mismanaging million of dollars a year and nobody wants to fight them. The millions up millions of dollars pissed away could have equipped all our school with solar power to help reduce the cost of electricity and carbon emission. I guess for some it’s easy to bitch and fight about events no upon us then fight about current events negatively impacting out lives.

Look if we were all the same why would we need blogs?
