Live Blog WHYY Congressional Debate
I’m catching it 12 minutes in.
KHN talking about Afganistan. Challenges on Castle on our 10 trillion $ debt. Saying she has voted for every trade agreement.
Cast;e defending free trade. I think she dinged him on this. I hope she circles back to his answer.
Karibjellybean turns it toward green power. KHN First says we need to go beyond wind power, tidal geothermal…ect.
Good. She is circling bacl to Castle’s tax credits for companies that send jobs overseas. Castle doubts it.
He likes WInd power. Toured a factory or something. Also wants to look at nuclear.
KHN just dinged him again on nukes. Strong no until waste issue is settled. Castle thinks Yucca MT is the solution. KHN says Yucca Mt not a reality.
I have to say she is on it.
Castle saying rods can be stored in solution. Ha!
Karibjellybean now to coal power. Castle says alternatives to coal are good. We have coal but should be clean coal.
KHN says while she was fighting for wind power Castel supported coal. Castle objects that he was fighting for clean coal.
Karibjellybean turns to eduction. Castle has said he wants to improve NCLB.
I’m out. From the brief bit I caught – I have to say KHN kicked ass.

Good for KHN! I now feel really good about voting for her.
Comment by Kilroy on 30 October 2008 at 8:57 pm:
She is doing pretty good but she seems to be throwing darts without supporting substantiation. She blaming him for everything is wrong with the country! She opposes NCLB fine she needs to tell Delaware to tell the feds to keep the 165 million dollars per year of federal funds.
I’ll give her credit for efforts. This debate is a bit too late in the game and how many voters are actually watching.
OMG she starting to sound like O’Donnell in her closing statement!
Comment by Donsquishy on 30 October 2008 at 8:59 pm:
damn! I totally missed it!
Comment by Batshitcrazy Nancy on 30 October 2008 at 9:21 pm:
Everything that is wrong with the country has a GOPerhead stoopid behind it and Castle is hook-line and sinker in support for those policies going forward.

I have to agree with Nancy on this… It is a valid argument… Bush = Republican Running….
Questions that should have been asked during the debate….
Did you support Bush in 2004 and why?
Did you support Bush in 2000 and why?
Even though it may not seem fair to the Republicans, it is fair play, and is actually play number 34 taken from their playbook….

I didn’t watch enough to know if Karen was able to turn to Castle and ask those questions.
I know Karibjellybean would not.

I give this woman a heckuva lot of credit for going up against a well established, and well liked incumbent with little support from her party.

You must have seen a different debate than me. Mr. Castle did very well and Ms. Nagle certainly tried to pin a bunch of things on him but none stuck.
Newsflash- Bush is not on the ballot.
Comment by liberalgeek on 31 October 2008 at 6:43 am:
Bush is on the ballot wherever there is a craven Republican that supported him running.
Comment by anon on 31 October 2008 at 6:46 am:
Bush who?
Comment by anon on 31 October 2008 at 6:53 am:
It just occurred to me… more Republicans have repudiated McCain than have repudiated Bush.
