Katz Shows Clatworthy How It Is Done

Filed in Delaware by on October 23, 2008

Okay, this is really a continuation of Round 2, but Community News reporter Jesse Chadderdon did a great job reporting the Hockessin debate between Dr. Mike Katz and John Clatworthy.

“I have to say this has been a very uncomfortable few weeks,” Katz said, holding up mailings sent out by the Clatworthy camp he called unfair. “These are serious times and we need to stay focused on the issues, but my opponent has chosen to run a negative and dishonest campaign and employ Washington-style campaign tactics.”

And, to Kilroy’s point, this is how one responds to Clatworthy’s attack ads. (Sorry for the cutting off on teh side, but the mailing was a bit bigger than my scanner).

Way to go, Mike! Good piece.

  2. Kilroy says:

Good for Katz! Shows character and instead of an O’Donnell crybaby fit. Katz came back with some hardball!

It’s all in the game of politics and I can agree there needs to be reform. We can individualize the negative attacks but all parties do it! Pointing fingers at the players doesn’t help change the rules of the games. Clatworthy may be listening to the machine more then his heart!

  3. Andreas says:

My wife knows people on his campaign, and supposedly most of this negative stuff is from Clatworthy himself. His whole game-plan is to just get elected. He did the same negative mailing in the primary, and I’m sure there will be a few more with his new DC hacks slinging mud. Does the 4th district really need a right wing fanatic in 2008? How will he even get anything done? He has antagonized so many of those in his own party as it is. I suspect his political career will be short, no matter who wins.

  4. Tom says:

People on this blog are so quick to accuse Republicans for making up facts, yet I read some of the comments and wonder. John Clatworthy is a right wing fanatic? Just because he went to college somewhere besides a big fancy liberal elitist school near Boston? And the only negative mail being sent out is by Katz! Instead of whining about who hurt whose feelings, Katz should man up and stop complaining.

  5. nemski says:

Tom, it’s not just some other school. Do some legwork, get yourself educated, and then come back.

  6. Tom says:

I read your posts Nemski. You are the epitome of a liberal elitist, right down to the ‘get yourself educated’ comment.

  7. liberalgeek says:

Tom, your ignorance is astounding. What would you say if I told you that Clatworthy had attended a Muslim college that had the goal of sending people out into the world to get sharia law enacted for the glory of Allah? Would that be OK with you?

  8. Tom says:

Really? John went to school in the Middle East? How can you even compare the two? We live in a Christian nation and your logic is weak. You’re just mad that he came out swinging first. Republicans are better campaigners, face the music liberalgeek.

  9. Because it’s working so well for McCain, huh, Tom?

  10. Tom says:

It all depends on what newspapers you read. That’s why I like to come here. Obviously you are all drinking the Obama Kool Aide that Time, Newsweek and all the other lefty rags are serving. The race is closer than you think.

  11. liberalgeek says:

And we are a Christian nation because???

If you are OK with a Christian version of Sharia law in America, then why would you have an issue with actual Sharia in a Muslim country or an official policy of Atheism in China or the former Soviet Union.

Tom, your logic is weak. This is a nation that has Christians in it. They are the majority, but that doesn’t mean anything. Regents’ goal is to impose their religious beliefs on our laws. As a legislator, Clatworthy would be in a position to do so.

  12. Andreas says:

I suspect that Tom sits on the far right with his good friend John. What do you do for him anyway, Tom? Do you help him think of baseless attacks on his rivals to take the focus off of him? Do you think voters still think that he is his father? You better hope so. If all of his mudslinging gets him elected he is a one-trick pony, so line up other work, Tom, because your buddy won’t be around DE politics for very long.

  13. Al Mascitti says:

I’m not the only district resident who’ll be changing his registration back to Republican to vote against him in the primary in 2012.

  14. nemski says:

LOL . . Al, I was thinking about switching to Republican just to get the absurd mailings.

  15. Tom says:

First of all, I don’t work for anyone. Unlike the posters here, I am not affiliated with the liberal blogosphere, which lets face it, is just an extension of the Delaware democratic machine. Second of all, John sent out mailings that brought up valid questions, so it was hardly this attack ad that Katz claims. You should switch to Republican! If you live in the 4th district he is the best choice. He was clearly more qualified than Fleming or Abbot, and he is the clear choice in 2 weeks. I wish people here would at least look at his website before attacking him.

  16. nemski says:

Tom, just as an FYI, we are far from “an extension of the Delaware democratic machine.” If we were, we would not have endorsed Markell.

  17. Andreas says:

What qualifications does Clatworthy have? My neighbors and I agree (although I wish some of them had voted in the primary), that we still know nothing about Clatworthy, except that he can play dirty politics. He hardly represents the sensibilities of any Republicans I know. I see extreme right wingers like Clatworthy as the last gasp of what the GOP has been trying to do for the last 30 years. When Katz wins this staunchly Republican seat it will prove that Delaware and this country are done with fear-mongering reactionaries (like you Tom). Its ok to be nice to a Democrat. We all have to work together.
