The 30 Percenters

Filed in National by on October 8, 2008

As the economy continues to go belly up, as the body counts in Iraq and Afghanistan continue to rise, as the corruption and greed of the current administration’s friends blossom in a putrid fragrance, as our energy policy is driven by oil fat cats, there are a group of Republicans and Independents who want to stay the course, a group I call The 30 Percenters

The 30 Percenters call Obama, the Messiah in an attempt to belittle him. They call him an “empty suit” in an attempt to ignore his ideas. The 30 Percneters resort to name calling rather than debating the issues. They deride regulation even in the face as massive failures on Wall Street. The 30 Percenters ignore the existence Social Conservative wing of the Republican Party which has destroyed the Party of Lincoln rather admit the cancer within. The 30 Percenters should change their logo to an ostrich with its head in the sand.

The nation came together on September 12, 2001 like no other time in U.S. history. And The 30 Percenters’ President, George W. Bush, squandered an opportunity to lead this nation like no other president could have. Today, our country lies as the brink of economic and social ruin, while The 30 Percenters continue down the path Bush whacked.

Over the next eight years, the Obama Administration will be leading the U.S. government and its people. The 30 Percenters have a chance to get on board and participate, yet I imagine they’ll just continue to bitch and whine.

The 30 Percenters ignore the existence Social Conservative wing of the Republican Party…

They ignore it, or they ARE it? Confused…

  2. jason330 says:

    Ya think?

It is all they have. The 30%er’s very identity is wrapped up in denying every single Bush fuck-up.

The good news? The 30%er’s are now back where they belong. I’m going to take FTM’s advice from here on out and ignore them.

  3. jason330 says:

That “ya think” was a response to nemski’s last line.

  4. RSmitty says:

Uh-huh…keeping my eye on you, beeyatch.

  5. anon says:

Ignore them? Oh come on.. remember what they did to Clinton? The VRWC is already having kickoff meetings and planning sessions. We need to investigate their PACs. And this time around we have the blogs to get the word out early on their activities.

  6. jason330 says:

Good point anon. Crush them into dust (philosophically speaking) is probably a better way to go.

  7. RSmitty says:

    Crush them into dust …
    excuse me…royalties, please!

  8. Von Cracker says:

They love their leader like no one else….kinda like the last few in the Berlin Bunker.

    Personally, I want pay-back.

We need to go throught the voting records from 2000 and 2004. One-time Bush voters should pay a 50% income tax for 4 years, and two-time Buch voters should pay 60% for 8 years.

    Fair?

    😉

  9. Gelatinous Monk says:

Where can I buy some cool “30 Percenter” merchandise?

    SWAG baby, SWAG!!!!!

  10. jason330 says:

Sounds good to me. Let the national healing begin.

  11. Gelatinous Monk says:

    “Personally, I want pay-back.”

    Viagra, anyone?

“We need to go throught the voting records from 2000 and 2004. One-time Bush voters should pay a 50% income tax for 4 years, and two-time Buch voters should pay 60% for 8 years.”

Whoohoo! I’m home free. Didn’t vote for him either time. What do I get?

  12. anon says:

Didn’t vote for him either time. What do I get?

You shop in the Spoiler’s Room in the back, with all the returns and open-box merchandise.

  13. Gelatinous Monk says:

    Any iPods?

  14. anon says:

    Any iPods?

Yes. They are all pre-loaded with an auto-starting, unerasable audio book of “The Audacity Of Hope.”

  15. Donsquishy says:

the 30p merchandise should include a bible shaped like a penis.

    circumcised of course…

  16. Dorian Gray says:

I think it depends. The 30% have this vague prescient “fear” that Obama will “ruin” the country. That he’s a closet terrorist or a socialist or some such thing. When all of this does not come to pass… what then?

  17. Gelatinous Monk says:

That’s okay. I just need to swap the earbuds. I’ll use the player for skeet shooting.

    AUDACITY INDEED!!!!!

  18. cassandra m says:

They’ll find something else to fear. Because Fear is the central organizing emotion of the current repub party.

  19. Gelatinous Monk says:

Hey DV, my thingy is shaped like a bible.

    Girth, baby.

  20. I talked about this over on my blog (the 30-35% of Republian right-wing WHACKOS who are still clinging to George Bush as if he’s THEIR fucking messiah) and Hube gave me hell.

The 30% exists and they’re as rabid, ridiculous, and stupid as those on the extreme of the other side. It’s only the rabid other side doesn’t have anywhere NEAR a 30% base.

  21. Donsquishy says:

hat’s okay. I just need to swap the earbuds. I’ll use the player for skeet shooting.

wrong blog if you are going to talk about shooting things

  22. anonone says:

    DWA:

“The 30% exists and they’re as rabid, ridiculous, and stupid as those on the extreme of the other side. It’s only the rabid other side doesn’t have anywhere NEAR a 30% base.”

What do you mean by this, and what evidence do you offer to support it?

  23. anon says:

I know what Mike M. means, but he is wrong on a technicality: The extreme left-wingers, the ones that equate to the extreme rightwingers, have left the Dem party.

  24. Donsquishy says:

I think the extremes are only common in the fact that they are extremes..

I’m pretty sure one wants to bomb the shit out of the planet

    and the others

    well they don’t

  25. Anonone,

You’re saying there AREN’T those on the left who are just as ridiculous as those on the right? You need EVIDENCE for that? The only evidence I can provide, then, is you because you’re obviously whacked enough to think there aren’t those offenders on the left, as well.

  26. Von Cracker says:

That’s circular logic we can believe in, my friends!

  27. anonone says:

    Mike:

“The 30% exists and they’re as rabid, ridiculous, and stupid as those on the extreme of the other side. It’s only the rabid other side doesn’t have anywhere NEAR a 30% base.”

This paragraph doesn’t make sense to me – what side are you talking about when you say “the 30% exists”? What side “doesn’t have anywhere NEAR a 30% base” and where do you get that evidence?

Just asking. Friendly works sometimes; you might try it.

  28. A. Bundy says:

Have any of you seen the video of the women crying and screaming in the woods to let the trees know that they feel for them!?

What about the “urban guerillas” that show up at all sorts of different political functions to “shut down and paralyze” cities…all the while wearing camouflage and ski masks etc.?

What about the people that dump paint on those wearing fur or leather…Or those that have tried to sink whaling/fishing boats (willing to kill people to protect wildlife)?

What about the Bill Ayers of the country?

The 30% number aside (you could never PROVE the percent), Mike is absolutely right. There are total crackpots on both sides. The reason that there are some on this site that don’t see it is because they are the ones that make up the far, extreme left. They are the very whackos to which he is referring.

  29. anon says:

    A. Bundy… the people you cite are not Dems. The 30 percenters are Republicans.

  30. Donsquishy says:

The 30% number aside (you could never PROVE the percent),

UH, his approval rating Bundy. Please try to follow along. I know you anger get’s in the way of being rational

  31. Gelatinous Monk says:

Those are likely very different 30% groups.

    Unless you’re using Obamathematics????

  32. Donsquishy says:

    was using Bushenomics actually

  33. Gelatinous Monk says:

Then allow me to trickle down >:)

  34. Von Cracker says:

What’s hilarious is the folks on the right think that the distribution of political views is a bell-shaped curve.

It can be taken as a certainty that the majority of the 30% who still approve of Bush and his policies are out of touch with the mainstream, and subsequently deserve the label of ‘extreme’. If 30% of voting-age adults still approve of Bu$hCo, and republicans only make up 27% of the electorate according to Pew Research, what does that say about the GOP as a whole?

I’d say it’s a party of extremists, either militarily, social issues, mythology, or identity (read: xenophobia).

Of course there are ‘extremists’ on the left, but who are they?

    Socialists?
Well, the Right can’t use that argument anymore (and we’ve been a socialist-capitalism nation for decades anyway).

PETA and Amnesty International members? Laughable. Ask most Americans and a majority will believe that those causes are good ones. They might not agree with some tactics, but appreciate the message.

Point being, just look at the numbers and it’s easy to surmise that the Right is beholden to their people with minority views.

  35. Gelatinous Monk says:

It could just be 30% that don’t believe you or the liberal MSM…..

  36. Von Cracker says:

    Simple, simple mike.

That 5%, earners over 250k, will be taxed at a higher, progressive rate. The higher taxation will off-set the small cuts given to those who make less than 250k, and still will increase tax revenue.

    Your common sense test sucks.

  37. Von Cracker says:

    Damn you, DV!!!

Now my comment has no context!

    😉

  38. Who you talking to, VC?

    There’s no one there, dude!!!

    NO ONE THERE!!!!!

    😉

  39. Von Cracker says:

yeah Monk…katie curic rulz our world.

    lame.

heh – that was for mike w – who types with invisible ink.

  40. Punch Katie in the cheetos.

  41. pandora says:

Oh, there’s context, VC. Even without reading the deleted comment, I can guess what was said. Something along the line that Obama will tax everyone. His tax plan will create more deficits. Obama is a lying socialist/fascist with no integrity, whose policies will cost the American people dearly.

    Am I close?

  42. If you six Power Rangers pool your talents, you can overthrow the evil one. 😉

  43. Dorian Gray says:

VC – DV told you not to engage! Follow the rules!

  44. Gelatinous Monk says:

    Coup!

    Coup!

    Coup!

    Kill Him!

    OOPS!!!! 😉

  45. Von Cracker says:

P, he wondered how if Obama gives 95% a tax break, then how can he pay for stuff…

Then finished with “it doesn’t pass the common sense test”

    So yeah, pretty close.

  46. pandora says:

    I scare myself!

  47. h. says:

    Funny,the priest talking about taxes(tithing).

  48. Donsquishy says:

thanks DG. we know how those germans can be if you don’t keep em in line

  49. Tom S. says:

Mark my words, if obama wins, you’ll all be claiming you were in that 30%.

  50. nemski says:

Tom S, have you already printed the bumper stickers, “Don’t Blame Me I Voted for McCain”?

The last eight years have been soo grand.

  51. Pooping Left Wing Troll says:

Since reading this post, my poops are 30% bigger.
