Sarah Palin won’t help McCain

Filed in National by on August 29, 2008

And you know why?

Because women, just like minorities, aren’t interchangeable!

You can’t switch out Hillary Clinton for Sarah Palin, just like you can’t appease Obama supporters with Alan Keyes.  But you guys don’t get it, and frankly, I find McCain’s pick insulting.  But maybe that’s just me… so I made a few calls to Hillary supporters who are still a little raw.

Guess what?  They’re insulted as well.

Guess what else?  Democrats didn’t begin this race saying we must run a woman or a minority.   Hillary and Obama were the best candidates who just happened to be female and a minority. Whereas, if McCain wasn’t in such dire straits Palin would have never been considered. Oh yeah, this is the ultimate Hail Mary pass, as well as the ultimate insult to Hillary supporters. It just begs the line: I know Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is a friend of mine. You, Sarah Palin, are no Hillary Clinton.

Meanwhile, I wouldn’t count on wooing the female vote with anti-choice Palin. We’re a lot smarter than McCain gives us credit for. Oh, I’m really starting to love this VP pick!

This is the worst VP pick in all history. Yes, even worse than Quayle.

  2. pandora says:

It’s patronizing. And for you men who are involved with a woman… you know how well this tactic works.

  3. Benjamin says:

I think the optics will be good for McCain for a while and then it will sink in how unprepared she is.
I am nervous about the female solidarity thing because I already see all kinds of offensive jokes on progressive blogs. And Wolfson’s reaction (“It reminds us how stupid it was for Obama not to pick Hillary) is not helpful
But I am glad to see people realize how insulting and condescending pick this is.

Now all we need is for Hillary to say it.

  4. vyllyness says:

I’m waiting for you to all call it ELITIST. Just watch. She has class and isn’t a SHREW like Hillary. Her husband doesn’t do interns either or the videographer and she probably has no ties to some left-wing America-hating pastor… You guys can sure dish it up…

  5. rsmitty says:

Because women, just like minorities, aren’t interchangeable!

White men are? Damn. That’s how dv became so hot…he became ME!

  6. pandora says:

Female solidarity is strongest among women over 50. These were the women who fought for/lived through Roe vs. Wade and equal pay in the work force. Hillary wasn’t pulling pro-life, creationist women.

  7. Tom S says:

Just a tad on the narcissistic there Pandora.

  8. pandora says:

Ah Vyllyness… Dems won’t even have to break a sweat. Palin isn’t a SHREW like Hillary?

Great talking point, and since you don’t strike me as someone with an original thought in their head I fully expect other McCain supporters to embrace comments like these.

    Good luck with that strategy.

  9. anon says:

Andrea Mitchell: “The campaign has just given up the experience argument.”

  10. Sarah has more executive governing experience than Biden, Obama, Kerry, Gore, and Edwards combined. She has fought for what she achieved Pandora and yes, she favors equal pay for equal work. The GOP will sweep married women, now. The Christian vote will come home to McCain. The disenchanted Clintons4McCain crowd will never come back. MO, OH, MS, NC and the Appalachian states are off the table. Life is good.

  11. pandora says:

Republicans don’t win the woman’s vote because of the abortion issue. That hasn’t changed. In my experience women tend to hold other women to higher standards. Don’t count your chickens yet.

  12. mike w. says:

“It’s patronizing. And for you men who are involved with a woman… you know how well this tactic works.”

This coming from the woman who called it “patronizing” when I pointed out the importance of firearms ownership for woman because they’re generally physically weaker than men.

I actually think she’s a good pick for him, given his other options. And Andrea Mitchell is an idiot. If McCain gives up the “experience” argument with Palin then Obama likewise gives up his “Change” banner by picking Biden.

Pandora – I agree on Abortion. Republican’s would win far more women voters if they were pro-choice.

  13. Tom S says:

“Republicans don’t win the woman’s vote because of the abortion issue. That hasn’t changed.”

You need to meet more women, particularly younger women

  14. Tom Cat says:

“Sarah has more executive governing experience than Biden, Obama, Kerry, Gore, and Edwards combined.”

Yes, in a state with absolutely no money worries. Heck, even you could succeed in that atmosphere, David. And, just like every governor, she therefore has no foreign policty experience. Considering McCain’s growing confusion on that front, this pick doesn’t help.

“She has fought for what she achieved …”

Really? She fought someone to earn second place in the Miss Alaska contest?

“The GOP will sweep married women, now. ”

Sure it will. And pigs will fly, and the lion shall lie down with the lamb, though the lamb shall not get a good night’s sleep.

“The Christian vote will come home to McCain.”

You mean the right-wing Christian vote.

“The disenchanted Clintons4McCain crowd will never come back.”

And the group — “crowd” is quite a stretch, but then you’re always favored your imagination to reality — wasn’t coming back anyway. Indeed, you have to wonder how the stay-at-home-mom crowd is going to view a woman with 5 kids, one with special needs, who refuses to stay at home with them.

“MO, OH, MS, NC and the Appalachian states are off the table.”

I just love when people with no track record for predicting anything about politics make pronouncements like this.

Aren’t you running for something, David? Do you really think you should come to a liberal site and display your cluelessness this way?

  15. Joe Cass says:

Ohio off the table? They can’t GIVE away tickets to his announcement!Life must be good to live in a bubble of delusion.

  16. Tom Cat says:

“You need to meet more women, particularly younger women”

Right back atcha, sport. My experience with younger women is they’re less likely to be pro-life warriors even if they’re personally against abortion.

  17. Tom S says:

“Really? She fought someone to earn second place in the Miss Alaska contest?”

She took on the incumbent republican governor in a primary and after winning that she beat out a former democratic governor.

  18. Unstable Isotope says:

I don’t think she’ll help with pro-Hillary Democrats. She’s anti-abortion, plus it shows pandering. I think she’ll help with the conservative base but McCain just gave up his experience argument. I think what it did for McCain is get him a lot of press coverage. I think they’ll downplay her so much that they’ll count it as a win if she doesn’t drool when debating Biden.

  19. Tom S says:

you folks have to realize that for every Rockefeller republican you pick up by being pro-abortion you lose many more blue-collar and Catholic democrats.

  20. pandora says:

Not to mention every time Sarah Palin speaks she will be compared to Hillary.

  21. Joe Cass says:

Blue collar ARE our votes, fella. The people being screwed by Bush tax cuts and unproportionately serving in his wars.

  22. Unstable Isotope says:

OMG, McCain is terrible in this speech. He’s looking down at his cards the whole time.

  23. Unstable Isotope says:

At least he has an enthusiastic crowd this time.

  24. anon3 says:

This choice proves McCain has PTSD.

  25. Tom S says:

    “Blue collar ARE our votes,fella.”

the last two elections say otherwise

“and unproportionately serving in his wars.”

you mean disproportionately volunteering to serve in those wars?

  26. DJK says:

I can smelllllll the fear. It’s ok. This will be fun.

  27. pandora says:

I smell desperation. But we’ll see who’s right in the end.

  28. Tom Cat says:

I’ve seen your photo, fella. That’s not fear you smell, it’s desperation. And since you’re alone, guess where it’s coming from.

  29. I can’t wait to see what Dominique has to say!

  30. Tom S says:

Smell whatever you want, we have an elder statesman and you have a boy who can give speeches.

  31. Tom,

Is that a racial statement? “Boy?!” 😉

  32. Phantom says:

    David,
You are even more nuts than I realized if you think that being the mayor of a city and then 1 year in your first term as governor is experience to potentially be president. Also, Biden has participated in multiple debates with extreme effectiveness while Palin has been in one basic debate in a state that is overwhelmingly republican. Yeah, that is an even matchup. On the topics of energy policy and economic policy the differences are very clear. What is also clear is what Americans want this year. McCain is trying to keep his Maverick image but Palin sure as hell doesn’t burnish those credentials. All Biden will have to do is bring up evolution and she is sunk.
Oh and the tone of the republithugs on this debate towards women as only being so superficial that if a women is on the ticket they will vote that way is blatantly sexist. Guess the hillary supporters will really like that comparison.
Plus I guess Palin will take a pay cut as VP since she obviously can’t make as much as Cheney due to the whole stand against equal pay for equal work. At least this is one area McCain can claim to cut government spending.

  33. pandora says:

Is anyone listening to Palin’s speech?

  34. Tom S says:

Of course not. There are so many more interesting things to talk about.

  35. anon says:

Massa Tom don’t mean nuthin’ by it. He a good man and take care of his coloreds sure enuff.

  36. Unstable Isotope says:

So far, she hasn’t really said anything. Oh finally, she’s getting to her experience. She spent a loooong time introducing her family. Ha, ha she’s talking about ethics – when you get your brother-in-law fired, I guess that’s ethical?

  37. Dorian Gray says:

Tom – Emphasis on elder, but I digress…

I’m watching Palin speak right now. She seems nice enough… as the uber-Christian neighbor with 15 kids that I’d wave to as I jogged past but never stop and chat…

Is this some type of fucking joke?

  38. Tom S says:

“Plus I guess Palin will take a pay cut as VP since she obviously can’t make as much as Cheney due to the whole stand against equal pay for equal work.”

Know your enemy. Do you honestly believe we think that?

  39. Phantom says:

    DG,
I hope it ends up being a joke. That way Obama/Biden can laugh all the way to the White House.

  40. Dorian Gray says:

Oh… she already pulled the POW card! And an Ohio pander with the John Glenn reference.

  41. Did she just say “Nuke-ular?”

    Here we go again…

  42. Phantom says:

    Tom,
THAT HAS BEEN PART OF THE REPUBLICAN PLATFORM. The republicans OPPOSE legislation stating equal pay for equal work. So taken to its natural conclusion that the market should decide what to pay and given that Palin would make less than Cheney in the marketplace (gov vs. CEO) I would assume that the PARTY would ask for a pay cut. Is it an extreme example, YES. But it displays the hypocrisy of the REPUBLITHUG PARTY. You will select a woman VP but not support her right to earn equal pay in the same position as a man.

Yeah, I’m so positive that women will come flocking to that banner. All I can say is thanks for making this pick easy. I was expecting Pawlenty who could have caused some issues but now I’m not all that afraid.

  43. Tom S says:

“Oh… she already pulled the POW card!”

Of course she did, just like obama pulls the civil rights card every time.

I understand how much the civil rights movement meant to so many people. Why can’t you dems understand how much military service counts to people?

  44. Dorian Gray says:

You are going to compare those two things… holy shit you’re an asshole. Africans were brought here as human chattel, endured institutional slavery and discriminations… lyching… wholesale…

That was a joke right. What a complete douche bag comparsion to make. You fucking bat-shit nuts!

  45. “…and I God Bless you?”

  46. Joe Cass says:

Did you see that old man chasing after a kiss?!? That was funny!

  47. Tom S says:

“So taken to its natural conclusion that the market should decide what to pay”

    Yes.

“and given that Palin would make less than Cheney in the marketplace”

    Maybe.

“I would assume that the PARTY would ask for a pay cut.”

    No.

“You will select a woman VP but not support her right to earn equal pay in the same position as a man.”

    Not even close

  48. Dorian Gray says:

As Andrew Sullivan just mentioned – “12.41 pm. She mentions her son going to Iraq. Biden, as far as I recall, didn’t.”

The point isn’t that we don’t respect military service you turd… we just put it into perspective.

  49. This is why the GOP will win. Nuts like Tom S. are so effective at spreading bullshit. Obama “pulls the civil rights card”? Dude, you’ve got to be fucking kidding me.

  50. mike w. says:

What has Obama done for black civil rights? I know he’s helped poor communities as an organizer, but he’s also helped keep blacks disarmed, just as the bigoted, racist whites before him did.

  51. Tom Cat says:

    “we have an elder statesman…”

This is the first time I’ve ever heard anyone call John McCain a statesman. He’s an old man with an anger-management problem is what you mean.

“Why can’t you dems understand how much military service counts to people?”

Because gun-nut jerks like you give it a bad name.

  52. Tom S says:

“You are going to compare those two things”

No, I’m not and I didn’t. Learn to read.

  53. Tom S says:

“Because gun-nut jerks like you give it a bad name.”

    Please explain

  54. Tom Cat says:

Speaking for myself alone, I don’t care for the mindset that military training promotes. Sorry, but I’m with the founders on that one — no standing army.

  55. Tom S says:

“Speaking for myself alone, I don’t care for the mindset that military training promotes. Sorry, but I”m with the founders on that one — no standing army.”

This is why we win elections

  56. Dorian Gray says:

OK fair enough. As I said, nobody is disparaging the military. But continuing to use the POW experience as if it adds to his C.V. I don’t know about that. It’s cool and everything but really?

  57. Linoge says:

I have to admit, I am not at all surprised that the first post here on Palin was more or less useless, and this, the second post, focuses exclusively on what plumbing she has, while the third post is… again, more or less useless.

Do the writers here ever actually debate the issue, or are they having too much fun pointing and calling names, giggling about, “Oh my GOD! She’s a GIRL!?“, or other such nonsense?

*shrug* I will admit it – I have wanted Palin to be the VP pick ever since I heard her name entered the ring… But that was solely because of her stance on various issues. By the same reasoning, I have despised Obama since he announced his candidacy. But, then, I am not someone (read: “a liberal”) for whom everything boils down to race, gender, PCism, and all the rest of that gosse.

  58. Tom S says:

“OK fair enough. As I said, nobody is disparaging the military. ”

Indeed, I don’t think you folks do disparage our men

“But continuing to use the POW experience as if it adds to his C.V. I don’t know about that. It’s cool and everything but really?”

I see it as a demonstration of character, just like when obama talks about being an organizer or being raised by a single mother

  59. jason330 says:

So you favor this quota pick?

  60. pandora says:

I’m fine with McCain using his POW experience as part of his life story, but not as the main reason to vote for him. Sadly, I also think, given the number of times he references his POW history, he has cheapened it.

Talk about a candidate who needs to put meat on the bone…

  61. Unstable Isotope says:

She didn’t talk about Obama at all. She had to tell her own bio, plus she and McCain don’t have any chemistry together. She clearly got the POW memo. I really think that McCain has conceded the “he’s not ready to lead” argument. It wasn’t mentioned at all today. It was all about reform – which is pretty hard to pull off when you’re a 26 yr. veteran of Washington. I thought her speech was o.k., not great or anything.

  62. Unstable Isotope says:

I have to say that McCain did a good job of taking the spotlight from Obama, if that was his intention. I still question why he would announce on the Friday before Labor Day – how many people are paying attention.

  63. Tom S says:

“So you favor this quota pick?”

Take a look at where she stands on the issues. I love her.

“I’m fine with McCain using his POW experience as part of his life story, but not as the main reason to vote for him.”

Of course, I don’t think he is doing that but I suppose we’ll just have to agree to disagree on that one.

  64. FSP says:

“You are even more nuts than I realized if you think that being the BLANK and then BLANK years in your first term as BLANK is experience to potentially be president.”

“mayor of a city” “1 year” “Governor” as the VP candidate.

“state senator” “3 years” “Senator” as the top of the ticket.

  65. Dorian Gray says:

    Yeah, it is. I agree.

It is just not an answer for everything. As in… Yeah I have 10 kitchen tables now but I lived 5 years in a box.” That is very tiresome.

  66. pandora says:

Tom, he does reference it a LOT.

  67. Call It says:

    Pandora-

Off topic, but in the next few days can you do another Real Issues thread. That was great!

    Thanks.

  68. mike w. says:

This is funny. You folks are talking about her lack of experience when Obama himself has basically none….

  69. Tom S says:

“Tom, he does reference it a LOT.”

Oh I have no doubt he does. But is there anything fundamentally wrong with that? Its a story you and I and perhaps all of us get tried of hearing but is there anything untrue about it?

  70. Kilroy says:

    David Anderson // Aug 29, 2008 at 12:00 pm
“Sarah has more executive governing experience than Biden, Obama, Kerry, Gore, and Edwards combined”

David, I am tell you stop drinking seawater, It can make you delusional

  71. One year, how about 2 years as Governor which is as long as Tom Kaine who you guys thought was qualified. Even better she has real accomplishments that most governors don’t achieve in 8–did I say Ruth Ann.

How can some of you say that it is bad that she governed a small state when the Democrat VP candidate comes from a truly small state?

She is the best of America–a Hardworking, thinking, ethical, and principled family woman.

Let’s see the men can run and have no experience, but the woman doesn’t have enough.

You guys are just jealous because Hillary has been replaced in history by another woman, a mainstream woman.

Kilroy, my brother, it is just a fact. We know this woman can balance budgets (two state budgets), cut spending, improve the lives of average people, attack corruption, and run a government. The democrats can’t show one day of doing that.

  72. From where I sit... says:

#56 “This is why we win elections’

    Win shit!

You jokers have stolen more elections than you’ve won…..and we will never forget it, nor our children, nor grandchildren, nor their grandchildren….that gives you a few decades to do the right thing using American ideals.

  73. Tom Cat says:

    Obama: Columbia, Harvard Law

Palin: University of Idaho communications major, beauty pageant contestant

    Obama: community organizer, state senator

    Palin: soccer mom, small-town mayor

Obama: U.S. Senator from Illinois (population 12.8 million)

Palin: Governor of Alaska (population 670,000)

Obama: Prepared himself to run for national office

    Palin: Plucked out of obscurity

The fact that you Republicans can’t tell the difference between the two speaks volumes.

  74. pandora says:

“You guys are just jealous because Hillary has been replaced in history by another woman, a mainstream woman.”

I’m a lovin’ these talking points. Haven’t you guys received the GOP memo yet? Palin was picked to woo Hillary supporters. Keep on trashing Hillary, unite her supporters and you can be certain that Palin won’t make history.

  75. Tom S says:

“You jokers have stolen more elections than you’ve won…..and we will never forget it, nor our children, nor grandchildren, nor their grandchildren….that gives you a few decades to do the right thing using American ideals.”

I’m not really sure where you’re going with that

  76. Joe Cass says:

Will the voters buy that earth was created in 6 days?

  77. Tom S says:

“Will the voters buy that earth was created in 6 days?”

They won’t, but when is that going to come up? Its not like they stop the debates in between Energy and Foreign Relations and go “now talk to us about some weird shit you believe”

  78. Welcome Vice President Palin says:

I love seeing you jackasses in full throttle freakout mode. It’s Hillarious. Hearing McCain’s audience cheer when Palin mentioned Hillary was a perfect example of why McCain wins in November while your constant spite will come back to bite you in November.

You Obamatons are just too damn nasty and snooty for the sensibilities of the American public. Outrage is one thing but you people are just plain hateful all the time. Give it a rest for 5 minutes. Take a deep breath. We’re gonna have a woman as Vice-President!! Enjoy this historic moment as a an American rather than going berserk in this protective circle jerk of yours.

  79. jason330 says:

It is beneath me to reply to your pedestrian comments WVPP.

BTW – Where is the champagne? I need somthign to wash down my caviar.

  80. mike w. says:

“You Obamatons are just too damn nasty and snooty for the sensibilities of the American public. Outrage is one thing but you people are just plain hateful all the time.”

Isn’t that to be expected? Obama & Biden are pretty damn nasty, snide, and hateful themselves. Birds of a feather……

  81. Today may be the day, Republicans won.

We actually have some one on the ticket who can give a speech. We have two people with Children in the military. We have the ascendancy of the reform wing of the party and have finally turned the page on the establishment which has been stifling the life out of our party.

  82. Kiroy says:

    David Anderson //
“Kilroy, my brother, it is just a fact. We know this woman can balance budgets (two state budgets), cut spending, improve the lives of average people, attack corruption, and run a government. The democrats can’t show one day of doing that.”

But then who is going to be in charge or foreign affairs! Not McCain because I am sure you must agree Bush made a mess!

“Improve the lives of average people” What is average people! Why not improve the lives of the poor and the struggling middle class. David I am sure there are more polar bears in Alaska then African-Americans.

“Balanced budget” Bill Clinton had one and even had leftover for our children’s future until Bush purchase military ordinance to dump on Iraq.

  83. Call It says:

“We have two people with Children in the military”

So it’s a bad thing that Mr. Obama is choosing not to send his young daughters off to war? I personally wouldn’t want little boys and girls defending my freedom.

    Your smarter than that statement.

  84. Unstable Isotope says:

By Republican logic, if Palin has more experience than Biden and Obama, she must also have more experience than McCain.

  85. mike w. says:

““We have two people with Children in the military”

So it’s a bad thing that Mr. Obama is choosing not to send his young daughters off to war? I personally wouldn’t want little boys and girls defending my freedom.

    Your smarter than that statement.”

Palin did not SEND her son anywhere, nor did McCain send his. They made the choice (a selfless one at that) to VOLUNTEER for military service. I commend them for making that choice as I commend all members of the U.S. armed forces.

  86. Tom S says:

“By Republican logic, if Palin has more experience than Biden and Obama, she must also have more experience than McCain.”

    EXECUTIVE experience

    don’t forget your modifiers

  87. Von Cracker says:

    Sheeeiiit.

You guys would’ve said “insert name here” now has put us over the top!

    Palin?!?

    more like Pander.

This pick reeks of uncertainty and desperation. Obama must have scared the shit out of McCain and his handlers last night, because Pawlenty was the pick prior to that.

Palin? Who knows, but her total background is weak compared to Obama…and I’m not just talking about elected office….and Biden won’t give a shit that she lacks a penis, he’ll tear into her.

The question is: Is Billy King working for the McCain camp? Because this “Out of nowhere, ‘really, this pick has tremendous upside’, trust me” pick seems like one of his moves….

Beauty Queen with a Communications Major? Can’t wait for the sex tape to surface…

  88. cassandra_m says:

I’m still trying to figure out how McCain could actually give us this gift….he has taken the experience argument quite off of the table; has selected someone with the repub ethics disease, and shown to the world — again — how bad repubs are at the affirmative action game. They just think that the right optics is good enough. Fantastic.

The one thing that repubs are good at is getting on message and hammering that home — no matter what they believe — and the pleasure in watching it this time is that you just know this is the hardest messaging job they’ll ever have to do.

    It’s a gift, really a gift.

  89. Call It says:

    Mike,

I agree, but your missing the point. Dave said, “Today may be the day, Republicans won.”

He used that as one of his reasons why. Seriously, that is bullshit. He was insinuating that somehow this gave the edge to Mr. McCain because his ticket had two people who’s sons were volunteers while Mr. Obama’s had only one. Mr. Obama’s children are just that, children. They are young girls.

I seriously refuse to believe that someone smart like Dave actually believes that bullshit.

  90. RAY K> says:

This is more a pick for republicans who arn`t wild about McCain, and on thar score it`s a home run. Anti abortion, member of NRA, son a grunt in Iraq, something here for every right wing wing nut to enjoy.

  91. jason330 says:

FYI Just spoke to my red neck barometer.

McCain is done. It is going to be a blow out now. A governor for a year in a half? Jesus it is like McCain is trying to lose.”

  92. Created Equal says:

I’m not an American. But if I was I’d rather be a Democrat.

Barack Obama will win this election. I know I speak for the 6.3 Billion non-Americans on this planet that we all think Obama would make a better President than any Republican.

Obama is for an inclusive democracy, where everybody matters, everybody is equal and everybody is entitled to pursue thier happiness.

You want to know what the world thinks of you Republicans? The old adage: For those who have much, much is expected seems so apt right now.

What is wrong with you? Honestly, you are an embarrasment to your nation. Shame on you for what you have allowed to happen to your fellow citizens. Your fore-fathers must be turning in their graves at the abomination you have made out of the world’s greatest democracy.

Your Bush claims to talk to God…and he talks back?!?! (He did say God told him to invade Iraq) We all know it was for oil. We all know he stole the election from Al Gore. (It was no co-incidence that his Brother was Govenor of Florida when that happened.) He can’t even speak properly most of the time! But never mind this…

I have to hand it to you. I’ve just watched the Pick for the Republican VP. Are you being fucking serious? Governor Sarah Palin is a joke. And she is not Hillary Clinton, not even close! I can pretty much guarantee you she is a right-wing evangelical Christian funadmentalist. You know how they always joke about how many kids these right-wingers have…well it was never more true! I could’nt stop laughing when she got to kid number 5 or was it 6? She is a baby machine, when will she manage to fit in the responsibility of VP duties?

Frankly the American people need to honestly forget about the meat of these campaign issues and just realise that Nancy Pelosi is going to be running the show if the Republicans steal the election…again (Just trying to figure out how they will do this since they are about as devious as the devil).

Nancy is after all third in line to the throne? I mean let’s face it. John Mc Cain is like the oldest guy in the world. (He farts dust.) If he dosen’t peg or get seriously ill in office I’ll be very suprised, so who then will run the Republic, not Governor Sarah Palin! She’ll be on maternity leave! Or running home to make sure the first husband has a home cooked meal…

If the Republicans win I’ll seriously lobby for the British to revoke your independance until futher notice. I refuse to believe the majority of Americans would be thick enough to vote, yet again, the Republicans into another term. That will be all.

    here here!

  94. mike w. says:

“They just think that the right optics is good enough. Fantastic.”

Well if I’m gonna shoot I need to see what I’m aiming at. Why else would Sarah Palin use an Aimpoint?

Created Equal – Equality & Equality of opportunity are two distinctly different things. I don’t want equality here in America. The rest of the “civilized world” tries to force equality on citizens. It doesn’t work because people are inherently unequal, and it simply cannot be done without destroying the individual and eschewing individual rights.

I have a right to the pursuit of happiness, but it’s just that, a pursuit. It’s not the job of government to provide happiness or to define it.

  95. Created Equal says:

If worst comes to worst, for the sake of your national pride… make provision for the obvious. What happens if VP Palin and President Mc Cain get panky-panky on each other? At least introduce a sub-clause or executive order preventing Mc Cain using viagra, because Palin won’t be getting an abortion any time soon even if it is Mc Cains! Oh the Drama!

  96. mike w. says:

And Created Equal – I really don’t care much if the “Social Democracies” of Europe don’t like the U.S. We are unique in the world and someone will always hate us.

The last thing I want is for the U.S. to become more like Europe.

  97. Alec says:

We’re doomed. This Palin is going to cut into enough of our Hillary supporters that we won’t recover. Now all the conservatives are going to feel better about McNugget too. I’m afraid the Senator from AZ just effed up the pumpkin patch for Obama and the rest of us.

  98. Tom S says:

    Created Equal –

We are the greatest country in the world. Hands down. Our economy is is bigger than China, Japan and Germany put together, we are the undisputed military heavyweight of the world and our culture and corporations dominate the market.

Maybe t is you who should be learning from us? If you want to be taken seriously read up on the foundations of our government and gain a little respect for Christian women.

  99. jason330 says:

Nice concern trolling GOP Alec. Go sell your pumpkin juice to someone who wants to buy it. Maybe Mathews? DWA is a fine blog.

    Created Equal,

I like your style. Anybody who can speak on behalf of the planet’s 6.3 Billion non-Americans is okay by me.

  100. Tom S says:

“I like your style. Anybody who can speak on behalf of the planet’s 6.3 Billion non-Americans is okay by me.”

As though they all had the same view……..

  101. Created Equal says:

Mike W. You wouldn’t be a certain George W? Would you? Is somebody abusing the White House broadband network and the trust of the American people, yet again? Getting in some potshots before the big move? Have a drink on me, you’re going to need it…but you’re probably doing that already, if my memory serves me correctly…you do that quite alot in fact!

  102. Joe Cass says:

  103. Tom S says:

“The last thing I want is for the U.S. to become more like Europe.

    YEAH! Civilised!”

Generations of my family have spilled their blood and some given their lives to preserve the freedom that has made this country so great.

If you don’t like it you are free to move.

  104. Joe Cass says:

You’re free to try and move me.

  105. Tom S says:

“You’re free to try and move me.”

Oh I am content with you here, but try to deprive me of the righteous inheritance that this republic has bestowed upon me and you’ll with you had moved.

  106. Created Equal says:

I never said the rest of the world was perfect. I’m not that stupid. America used to be the singular example of what a country should strive to be. I can speak for the rest of the world. Do you have any idea how many people hate you Republican bastards?

I didn’t insult any Christian woman. Only the ones who can’t keep their legs closed.

Oh and BTW. Europe has the party going on right now, Democrats and Independants are only invited.

WHY DON’T ALL THE REPUBLICANS JUST MOVE TO TEXAS AND LEAVE THE UNION? I’M SURE THE REST OF THE COUNRTY WILL BE HAPPY TO AMEND THE CONSTITUTION JUST TO GET RID OF THE WARRING HATEMONGERS! OR SEND THEM TO IRAQ. SEEING THEY SO OBSESSED WITH IT.

    Obama 2008! Let freedom reign.

  107. Joe Cass says:

  108. jason330 says:

Tom S you are a real gung-ho hero type. So you served in Iraq helping spread freedom I guess?

  109. pandora says:

I don’t think anyone is trying to deprive you of your righteous inheritance. And the macho talk will have to go, now that your party has put a woman in the VP slot!

  110. Created Equal says:

And this Palin woman wouldn’t be there in the first place were it not for Hillary Clinton. Republicans are so fucking obsessed with this power overwhealming that they are trying to make themselves more like the Democrats just to win, because they know, they know deep in their old conservative osteoparosis ridden bones that they are truly and deeply horribly fucked this time around.

Only problem is you can’t make another Hillary Clinton overnight. The woman’s a legend!Democrats don’t worry at all. Sarah Palin’s only draw card is her ability to breed like a rabbit and that she was a runner-up in the Miss Alaska contest.

The people are marching and the flames of liberty will soon approach the White House gates. If this were Europe they would have tried you Republicans for war crimes by now!

I hate doing the fucking dishes and cleaning up after my Arrogant cheuvanistic husband who supports that wrinkled patato skin Darth Vader and his cronies.

I know you secretly all closet Democrats, even the toughest Republicans are. Look in the mirror and ask yourself, do I really want to deny minorities civil-rights and blow up countries so I can drive my 5-ton SUV for 3 dollars cheaper a tank and feel like a tough son of religious neo-conservative while I reverse over latinos, blacks, gays and poor people who were screwed before they were even born, by my kind. Ask yourself if you can really justify all the other unmentionables and KKK inherited tendances you Republicans secretly conspire to hide under the guise of your bible thumping, speaking in tounges b.s. When you secretly screwing the next-door nieghbours wife and you know your son bats for the other team. You are just as human.

Religion and loving America have nothing to do with the state of your being. The Constituition is secular. It is your bigotted self-important elitest ideas of keeping those who are not exactly like you in their place, forever doomed to live in your classed, fuedal system with levels of citizenship that always leave you on the top of the food chain.

The pecking order changes on November 4th Republicans. Own your faliure. This election is not about you. It is about America. everybody deserves the nice house with the picket fence. Not just you!

    quote….
    August 29th, 2008 2:20 pm ET

Today we found out that the Republican Nominee for Vice President is Governor Sarah Palin. I have watched all the debates after her acceptance speech and no one brought up the fact that she, in front of a worldwide audience, broke Operational Security the Military prides itself on. She announced the MOS of her son serving in the Army, and went on to say the exact date and the country her son”s unit will deploy too. She has not only endangered the life of her son, but all the other soldiers in his unit. Senator John McCain never talked about his own son”s service for that very reason. I think it shows the lack of Judgment on the part of McCain”s Camp to not screen her speech and shows her own inexperience on the National Stage. For a candidate who prides himself on National Security his Vice Presidential choice just blew that argument out of the water. So why are we not talking about this issue?

So doesn’t that answer the question about her helping McCain?

  119. Linoge says:

Funny, I am currently a stay-at-home husband (after serving a time in the US armed forces) who cleans house, cooks, and cleans up, who drives a surprisingly economical four-banger, is a sect-neutral Christian, has never cheated on his wife, is a strong believer in the integrity of the Constitution, and strongly believes in equal opportunity for all. And, oh yeah, I will be voting McCain/Palin. Do I agree with him on everything? Of course not. But I disagree with him on less than I do with Obama… and that is pretty much what American politics boils down to these days.

You see, Created Equal, no one deserves anything more than life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. There are no guarantees in this life, not even under the socialistic ideals you seem to be professing.

Me, I am quite happy living my life and reaping the benefits I have earned through my effort and time. The second you start talking about people “deserving” things, though… honestly, you lose. Of course, given your intense hatred towards and bigotry of a large cross-section of American society, not only will you fit in well here at this weblog, but something tells me you are one of those people who thinks they “deserve” all manner of things from the world, whether they have earned it or not. One born every minute, I suppose.

  120. Created Equal says:

Fuck, so she’s secretly a blonde too?

    Obama gonna walk this.

  121. Created Equal says:

Fuck, so she’s secretly a blonde too?

    Obama’s gonna walk this.

  122. Unstable Isotope says:

From Newsweek, Palin criticized Hillary in March, calling her a whiner.

She does herself a disservice to even mention it really. You’ve got to plow through that. You’ve got to know what you’re getting into.”

She says “any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism…I think, man, that doesn’t do us any good, women in politics, women in general, wanting to progress this country.”

  123. Created Equal says:

    Pokey retort Linoge!

Highly fed and lowly taught my friend. Opinions are like arseholes, and a lot of crap comes out of yours. Clearly you are not a minority! So why would you care about their issues anyway. And as for the socialisim…the UK, France, even Canada all have robust social programs like healthcare that give thier citizens the dignity all sentient human beings do deserve. DESERVE. And you know why? Because people have fought and died for these things to make them rights. In the spirit of goodwill they have done these things so everybody can be happier, where the individual and the collective body politik act in the defense and wealfare of all so all can be happier and more free.

You Deserve opportuinity, not the house with the picket fence, but the fact that if you work hard you can have that if you like. Yes just by being alive, the fact that you are here on this earth means you have a devine right to these things, you deserve them, even you, because you live in a country that grants certain enaliable rights. Becareful though, your lingering fear of communisim and Karl Marx could be catchy. Quickly go lock your door incase free quality government healthcare tries to sneak in and let you sleep a little safer, and rest more assured tonight. Vote for Mc Cain, that’s your right. But it dosn’t make you right.

  124. mike w. says:

I’d hardly call UK /Canada healthcare “Quality” Canadians with money come HERE for quality medical care they can’t get in Canada.

Those social programs and healthcare are not “rights.” They are services provided by the government and come with all the conditions and obligations of something provided by the State.

By the way, rights are not “granted.” Any so called “right” that’s “granted” by the government is not a right. It’s a privilege and can be altered or taken away at the whim of the State. Here in America rights are inalienable, inherent, and restrictive of government authority. They impose no obligation on individuals.

Dont forget that the original American concept of “rights” is far different than what you have in Europe, and I hope to hell that distinction remains for generations in spite of the inroads contemporary liberalism has made conflating that meaning with FDR’s erroneous concept of “rights.”

A government big enough to give you all the “rights” you want is big enough to take all of those “rights” away.

  125. Joe Cass says:

    Ctrl+f for “granted”

  126. Created Equal says:

Gee W. I mean Mike W. The French invented rights. America perfected them. A lot of the best things in America are originally from Europe or borrowed in whatever way from other nations, and applied liberally. Your statement shows your ignorance.

BTW Canadians, Britions and the French have worldclass social healthcare programs whereas if you needed a heartlung transpant and didn’t have the $5,000,000.00 it costs you in America you would die on the street like a homeless bum. And let’s face it, some bitch in a call centre would probably fob you off and tell you how your policy dosn’t cover pre-existing conditions and you are no longer covered and could you please pay $10,000.00 for the previous care you dared claim in the past. So don’t give me that crap about Canadians coming over to get healthcare from America. Americans cross the border everyday for exactly that reason! Please, if Canada could relocate their part of North America to another part of the planet just to get away from the USA they would.

And those programs are rights. Any civilised society makes those fundamental rights. Oh sorry I forgot, you wouldn’t understand that because the only compassion you understand is being told to pay more every month for something you don’t get. I mean considering you live in the nation with one of the highest tax rate in the world, dosn’t your governemnt owe that to you, you are paying for it!

Actually Mike, you’ve just realised you’re being screwed by uncle sam. The rest of the Civilised nations just want you guys to all catch up and take the lead again, because America can be a great nation when it wants to be.

And show some fucking respect to cultures older than yours. Europe had organisational governments before your continent even had a functioning shithouse. And the European Union has had it together for quite a while thank-you very much, while your nation still squabbles over trivialities like who can and can’t get married or weather you can afford to go see a doctor. BTW haven’t you noticed the disturbing trend of Americans leaving for a free Europe. They claim new passorts everyday 🙂

  127. Good shit, Created Equal! You’re making my day!

  128. Sharon says:

And the European Union has had it together for quite a while thank-you very much, while your nation still squabbles over trivialities like who can and can’t get married or weather you can afford to go see a doctor.

Yeah, those Europeans really have it together. Take spelling. Looks like they do a good job there. And they were way ahead of the curve on “medical holidays.” Never heard of that here. Who knew how much fun it could be to travel half way around the world because your oh-so-great nationalized healthcare makes you wait years for hip replacements and such.

  129. mike w. says:

“And those programs are rights. Any civilised society makes those fundamental rights. ”

That’s just it, they aren’t rights. Benefits provided by government social programs are not rights. Under the UK concept of “rights” you have a “right” to healthcare but no right to self defense. Sounds like a truly “civilized” society to me.

  130. Created Equal says:

Mike my little pig dropping. Believe it or the police hardly even carry guns in the UK. And Europeans do have the right to self defense? Duh, but we civilised so we don’t empty 40089 rounds into the guy. Guns are an affront to the idea of personal security, your purely American idea, “The right to bear arms” is obsured, are you preparing for a civil war? I don’t know one European person that owns one. It this your idea of self-defense? Look at your beautiful murder rate, that will shut you up.

Sharon (Or Shazzy if you don’t mind me calling you that – You remind me of a young yet fabulously defunct Sharon Osbourne.)

I won’t even dignify your jab on European culture with a response. It’s just asinine to deny the role of Europe in the history of the world. Touche my pet. I’m not playing the game of who gave what to contemporary civilisation. You know who wins anyway. Ancient Eurpoean blood courses through your viens.

You sound like you need some valium, prozac, maybe even some zoloft? You can get a brain transplant for free, yes, awe, no, you’re not covered for that. SORRY!

The only people that wait are you. I’ve used British, French and Canadian healthcare, I’ve never waited very long for anything. You are only saying that bacause you know deep in your heart you can’t afford hip replacement surgery.

You see in France I would get 6 months paid leave off work, a nanny to do my ironing, clean my house maybe even a bit of an allowance so I can live and go recover and holiday in Italy during my incredibly trying period, plus the government would send a doctor to my house at my beck and call whenever I feel woosy, even after 1am, and it would not cost me…get this bitches…”Anything.” I might have to wait a little (2 days) if the right doctor is not available for the actual surgery. Sure sux that you got to save up HA! HA! HA!

Hip replacement or your kids going to college? I wonder? Tough call, that I don’t have to make.

God, I pray Obama wins. Because you’ll finally be first world again!

  131. Ridonkulous says:

I’m just looking forward to DV’s misogyny over the next 70 days.

We already knows he hates old people.

At least venting against Mrs. Palin will help stave off his second divorce for a few more months.

  132. meatball says:

The wait for hip replacement in the US would surprise you, Sharon. Get an appointment at the “gate keeper” MD, try drugs first, get another “gate keeper” appointment, make an ortho appointment, make an MRI appointment, back to the ortho guy, make a surgical appointment. Guess what, all that can take 6months right here in the good ‘ole USA. Greatest healthcare system in the world.

Don’t even get me started on the old folks homes.

  133. Ridonkulous says:

Trial lawyers love the US healthcare system!

  134. cassandra_m says:

Took me four months to get an appointment for surgery on my toe. And I have decent insurance and live in the metropolis of Wilmington, DE with no shortage of medical facilities or staff whatsoever.

  135. Ridonkulous says:

HAHA….that’s funny. You think Delaware is adequately staffed.

    Hoooo…..(sides splitting)….hoooo……

  136. Created Equal says:

The only point I’m trying to make here guys is you all deserve better. All of you, you’ve been ripped off. And your taxes are paying for murder and destruction and first class air tickets and fancy dinners and houses for morons while your middle class is being destroyed before your eyes, and you get told boo hoo when you get sick or need help. And then when you travel overseas everybody hates you becuase they terrified about whose going to be the next to be invaded. (That’s Russia’s job not yours)

People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people.

  137. pandora says:

Created Equal, You’ve made my day. Hope you hang around.

  138. Ridonkulous says:

    Eurolover!

  139. Ridonkulous says:

Look Pandora….it’s a nice version of you:

NYTimes– “Lori Viars, a social conservative activist in Lebanon, Ohio, who had been a staunch supporter of Mike Huckabee and had struggled to muster enthusiasm for Mr. McCain, said, “I’m so hot and sweaty, because we’ve been jumping around and hugging.”

“It is too good to be true,” said Ms. Viars, who attended the McCain campaign rally here on Friday with several other conservative grassroots leaders. “This is better than we could have ever expected.”

    See…..foaming idiots on both sides!!!

  140. Linoge says:

People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people.

Huh. That is the first thing you have said here that I agree with. Of course, I am probably coming at it from a different angle…

At any rate, I do hope you keep posting here as well, for whatever that is worth… People like you are wonderful examples of the disaster our country would face should people like Obama continue to achieve and maintain power. The entitlement mentality, the lack of understanding of who exactly pays for all of those things you think you “deserve”, and the raging bigotry, hatred, name-calling, and childishness… Yeah, if the option is either staying the way we are, or becoming like you, I am quite happy where I am right now, thank you kindly.

Oh, and another reason for you to please keep posting is that you are honestly funny as hell, especially if you believe all this nonsense you spew… though that would be kind of sad, simultaneously.

  141. Joe Cass says:

Its sad that Shazzy needs a hip replacement.

  142. anon says:

Linoge unless you are a millionaire why are you supporting tax cuts for the filthy rich! Middle class bear the brunt of taxes.

Warren Buffet pays the same taxes as his secretary. Do you see anything wrong with that?

  143. Created Equal says:

Aw, at least you can play nice too. The disaster lies in that people like Obama have no power right now. (November 4th will change that)

America is an idea. Not a place. If the people stop believing in that idea then America dies. And guess what? America will be like every other country in the world. The only reason I even care is because I believe there is something worth saving, that there is a certain something, a greatness that your nation above all others has embodied for 230 years.

If you all fail, I’m going to have to learn Manderin Chinese and have my internet surfing censored. And I don’t like that idea very much because I like freedom. And you know what else? America is the only Superpower in History that has shown restraint and has not become Imperialistic.

Y’all get your act together. Fast. The Chinese don’t make good movies either!

  144. Joe Cass says:

Wow. You don’t think Cheney is imperialistic.Still, thanks for the reminder of what our great experiment is all about;its inspiring to know that a non-American can view us through such a clear lens. And don’t put off the mandarin just yet,the book hasn’t closed on that one.

  145. Matthew says:

    Question:
If some black voters are voting for the Obama/Biden ticket because Obama is black, won’t some women vote for McCain/Palin as Palin is a woman?
Doesn’t the same logic apply here?

  146. Joe Cass says:

Certainly some will. Methusela may vote McCain because of a carbon dating match. Are you fishing for a remark that one is wiser than the other?

  147. Created Equal says:

Oh yeah, Bush and Cheney would love to take over the world I’m sure. Problem is they only have 4 more months 🙁

Woman will only vote Palin if they think someone who breeds like her is actually an example to emulate? She might find support in the ranks of those of you Americans who originate from the State Of Utah and live in those compund thingeys, but conventional modern American woman will find this fairly condesencding, and insulting. After All, they wanted Hillary Clinton and everything that comes with it. Not the Palin (Say it like the dreaded plague)

Otherwise most woman I know will think she needs to get her head checked and that this is some kind of joke. Condi Rice would have been a serious player, but this Gremlin? Frankly, she should have turned down the nomination. Gov. Palin has a Down Syndrome baby to care for.

  148. Ridonkulous says:

    ROAR! ROAR!

Watch carefully as the pro-choice animal rears its head in blinding fury!!!!

    BLAM!!! BLAM!!!

    John McCain on safari!

  149. Matthew says:

I’m not at all thinking one is wiser than the other.

I guess the next question is, how much will race and sex impact votes? And which will have greater impact?

From what I’ve been reading it seems that both will play a factor, but race will have a greater impact than sex.

  150. Ridonkulous says:

    Really??

How long do you think you can go without race?

  151. Created Equal says:

I know people, and they all love sex, even Republicans. The sex will probably have as great an impact as the penetration that precedes it. Most likely will be missionary though, and the Republicans love that stuff, so it’s unlikely to affect the broader demographic of those who perfer different positions. Generally, Democrats want all positions, even the dark kinky ones. Can the Republicans flip flop and offer more? Or evenmore of the same…Then again even if it is the same that might work too, because we all know crap sex is better than no sex. Cindy Mc Cain knows all about this, she’s all for the blue pills, and the aides.

  152. Matthew says:

    QUOTE:
    “Really??
How long do you think you can go without race?”

    I don’t understand what you mean – please clarify/elaborate.

  153. Joe Cass says:

Cindy Mc Cain knows all about this, she’s all for the blue pills

it was my understanding she was all for the oxys.

  154. Created Equal says:

That’s a terrificly point Joe. But right now it’s all very hush hush and on the down low.

  155. Created Equal says:

That’s a terriffic point Joe. But right now it’s all very hush hush and on the down low.

No. I see Nothing at all wrong with that.

  158. Created Equal says:

  159. mike w. says:

“People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people.”

Wow, created equal got something right. Unfortunately you fail to realize that this is impossible once the citizenry has been disarmed (a la the UK)

Also, you may want to look at the UK a bit more closely. UK violent crime rates have soared since they banned firearms, so much so that they’ve now resorted to banning knives and swords as well. The UK’s experiment of banning objects of crime is a joke, one that liberal democrats here in the U.S. seem eager to follow.

  160. Mike W, You can feel the desperation and panic on the other side. Today is the day they lost. Republicans are finally energized as much as Democrats. The battle is joined.

  161. Joe Cass says:

Yeah.Talk to me about your energy Monday morning, Mr.Anderson. This is a gift to us. Palin and her hubby are going national this weekend and Sept !st will prove to be painful for republicans.

  162. pandora says:

Actually, the only ones energized are the Far Right, Pro-Life crowd. Actually, this will be a fascinating experiment. The Far Right now has one of its own on the ticket and the abortion debate will be front and center. Didn’t think the majority of the Republican Party wanted to go there, but I guess there’s no choice (pun intended) now.

BTW, I’m not desperate or panicked… I’m stunned.

  163. G Rex says:

‘The Chinese don’t make good movies either!”

CE, you’ve obviously never seen the films of Zhang Yimou. (He’s the guy who scripted the Olympic opening ceremony after Spielberg dropped out.) It’s funny, because his major films, like Red Sorghum and Raise High the Red Lantern are subtle allegories for the Chinese Communist Party, a la Animal Farm for the Russians. And then there’s Jackie Chan!

  164. Created Equal says:

Yes the UK’s 17 knife attacks for FY2007 got everybody at Buckingham Palace rather hot under the collar. The Queen herself was appaulled and demanded Gordon Brown increase the London Metropolitain Police Deparment staff by 50 officers.

Mike you are spot on there with the banning of weapons in the UK, except, the British are actually generally happy with life at the moment, our soaring crime rate means a year on year increase of 50 more serious violent crimes (For you there stateside that means another 10,000) So that works for us, and since nobody is planning a coup d’ etat we view people with weapons as dangerous, you view them as empowered? Yes/No/Yes? Yes! (Columbine…need I say more)

For America this wouldn’t work because if the Republicans win again by rigging the sytem a la 2000, there will actually be a coup d’ etat and the general citizenry will need as many guns as they can get. I have it on good word from the home office that we might help with more guns because we don’t need them.

There is no panic on the Democrat side David, think of it as though the Democrats have been sitting on the toilet, constipated for 8 long years and for the first time we are feeling a bowl movement, we know this is going to be the biggest dump in history. And finally a massive stinking mound of Republican waste is about to be passed. Yes it will be painful and will require us to all stretch a bit. But in the end we’ll walk away relived, wipe our ass with you pride and walk away intact whereas you’ll be in the sewarge plant with all the others of your kind. That energy you’re feeling is really actually the periseltic movement of the large intestine moving you all along to the eventual moment of expulsion. Finally we will have some relief! Obamalax, so strong you only need to take it once 🙂

  165. pandora says:

The imagery of your writing is quite impressive

  166. G Rex says:

(comment deleted by G Rex for lack of class.)

  167. Dr. Waite says:

    Makes absolutely no sense.

    1. She’s only 44… She’s not going to make McCain look any younger when they stand on a stage together. Not only does it make him look older, he makes her look even younger (reinforcing her inexperience).

    2. Absolutely ZERO experience, thus making McCain’s age a relevant and legitimate topic for debate.

    3. As you said, her pick is patronizing and pandering. People get turned off when political strategy is at odds with good governance.

    4. Assuming that the pick is aimed at begrudged Clinton supporters, why on earth would he think that these LIBERAL women would discard their beliefs about women’s reproductive rights simply to support Palin just because she sits to pee.

    5. The main job of a VP is to hurl attacks against the opposition party’s nominees. On what grounds does she attack their positions on foreign policy, environmental policy, or economic policy. Running the country is a far cry from running a village full of Eskimos.

    6. McCain doesn’t even know her. Americans are likely to see his choice as reflective of a serious lack of judgment and a lack of regard for the serious threats that America faces.

    7. Alaska isn’t in a region. He isn’t appeasing the South by picking someone from below the 36 parallel. He isn’t appeasing the West by picking someone from California or Texas or New Mexico. For Christ’s sake, Alaska only has 4 electoral votes!

    8. She has a newborn with DS. Given her total lack of experience and familiarity with the American public, she is going to have to dedicate some SERIOUS time to these issues just to get through the campaign, let alone to help govern the country. Like it or not, it’s likely that the American public will see her child as a huge liability.

    9. It’s hard for McCain to call Obama a celebrity once he puts a pin-up on his ticket.

    10. It took the press 15 minutes before they pronounced her name correctly. Sure, she’s gotten attention from the press in her pursuit to the Alaskan governorship, but will she be able to hold her own with the Washington press corp? She’s never even been on any of the Sunday political talk shows. The anchors of these shows are used to picking apart political giants and will likely make minced meat out of Palin.

These are the 10 reasons that McCain has seriously screwed himself out of the White House.

  168. Fister says:

    Dr.Waite are you my dentist?

  169. Linoge says:

Actually, the only ones energized are the Far Right, Pro-Life crowd.

Actually, I am quite happy with the choice, and am more-or-less moderate-right, and definitely pro-choice. Hell, I have wanted Palin to be the VP pick ever since her name got thrown into the hat. But, then, stereotypes are meant to be broken…

  170. Created Equal says:

Yes, and you are actually capable of giving birth too?

  171. pandora says:

Great points, Dr. Waite. As the day passes I’m more and more perplexed by his choice. What was he thinking?

  172. Created Equal says:

He was thinking about the threesome he, Cindy and the wild rabbit could have when they get the new jetmasterjacuzzi 5000 deluxe installed on the West Portico of the White House.

  173. mike w. says:

CE – you’re sure showing quite a bit of respect for women. I wonder if you’d be OK with such sexist comments if they were coming from the Republicans towards Hillary clinton? I doubt it.

  174. Von Cracker says:

It’s so funny you douchebags believe that a VP pick will get McCain MI, OH or PA.

2 of those three will give Obama the win, maybe even 1.

All Palin does is bring the PUMA veriosn of religious-wingnuts back into the fold.

  175. Tom S. says:

    Created equal –

“I can speak for the rest of the world.”

    No, no you cannot.

“I didn’t insult any Christian woman. Only the ones who can’t keep their legs closed.”

You sir, are a douche. If only you lived in this country and could see how American women take to cowardly shits like you insulting their honor and their families.

“Sarah Palin’s only draw card is her ability to breed like a rabbit”

5 children and she breeds like a rabbit? You truly are from Europe!

“Look in the mirror and ask yourself, do I really want to deny minorities civil-rights ……… while I reverse over latinos, blacks, gays and poor people who were screwed before they were even born, by my kind. Ask yourself if you can really justify all the other unmentionables and KKK inherited tendances you Republicans secretly conspire to hide under the guise of your bible thumping, speaking in tounges b.s. When you secretly screwing the next-door nieghbours wife…keeping those who are not exactly like you in their place, forever doomed to live in your classed, fuedal system with levels of citizenship”

You Europeans need to learn American history or keep your mouths shut. Guess which option I would prefer.

“Clearly you are not a minority! So why would you care about their issues anyway.”

Well, a long time ago there was this Jesus character……

“all have robust social programs like healthcare ….. Because people have fought and died for these things to make them rights.”

    When exactly was that?

“I mean considering you live in the nation with one of the highest tax rate in the world”

    No…..

“You see in France I would get 6 months paid leave off work, a nanny to do my ironing, clean my house maybe even a bit of an allowance so I can live and go recover and holiday in Italy”

And that is why what percentage of French youth is unemployed?

“Because you’ll finally be first world again!”

Who has us beat right now?

“America is an idea. Not a place.”

You are a moron. Free-market Constitutional Democracy is an idea. America is very much a place.

    Jason330 –

“Tom S you are a real gung-ho hero type.”

    No, I’m not.

    Von Cracker –

“Tom S equates military might with dick size”

No, but it is a clear measure of our technological and economic superiority.

  176. Not Brian says:

What are yo doing blogging at this hour Cracker?

Let’s all drop our talking points and positions for a moment.

Is this woman in any way qualified to be the president when the oldest president EVER would be taking office…

The choice was silly and pandering.

I am not sold on voting for Obama… I’ll vote Nader (or the Hemp Lady if she is still around)… I am not a party guy.

I am however an engaged spectator, and from my perspective this was a completely shit choice. She is a small time politics wanna-be nazi and she reeks of cronyism.
