One scenario was that the text announcement of Obama’s running mate would go out overnight, with all the morning news shows covering it this morning. That hasn’t happened. So now it looks like the text will probably go out this evening.
While inside the Beltway Democratic sources are continuing to say “watch Biden” (according to Mark Halperin of Time Magazine), and while Biden was more closed-mouth yesterday with the press and while some of the Biden family have gathered up in Montchanin, I am betting it is not Biden. I am betting it is Clinton.
UPDATE 1: CNN is reporting that Obama has called some of those on his shortlist to tell them that they have not been selected. Obama has no scheduled events today, and will be home in Chicago all day in preparation for his joint appearance with the VP in Springfield, Illinois tomorrow.
UPDATE 2: NBC’s Andrea Mitchell is reporting that one of Biden’s sons was flown in a private plane from Maine to the Biden home in Montchanin. She says Biden is “gathering the clan.”

I’d find it difficult to believe that a text message would go out early enough for bloggers to scoop the announcement.

Not to worry. You still have time to mix up a big pitcher of Kool Aid while you’re waiting for that text message.

There will be no scoop, for I am sure reporters have all signed up for the text message too. So bloggers, supporters and reporters will be receiving the text at the same time.

Another ignorant comment from Miscreant. It is like he is proud of ignorance or something.

I just enjoy that little dance you do as you revel in your own ignorance. It’s not quite as much fun as getting you to soil your panties, though.

After his cryptic interview with USAToday yesterday, here are my two thoughts: Biden or someone off radar. In terms of your poll, Biden or Other.
7 delawaredem // Aug 22, 2008 at 8:28 am
I say it is either Biden or Clinton. There is a 50/50 chance of either.

“Drink the kool-aid” that’s original, you fucking loser.
Anyway, I am starting to get tired of this whole situation as well… speculation, conjecture, blah, blah. But the VP pick is always a big story, each time in both parties. The fact that the quintessential Delaware political guy has a great shot is quite exciting, I’ll admit.
I’m rooting for Joe!

I will be very happy with either Biden or Clinton. I will be “meh” with Kaine or Sebelius, and I will be disappointed in Bayh.

Even Biden staffers are signed up for the text message. No one will know prior to when they know.

Obama said recently that his VP pick would not be a surprise — Clinton would be a surprise.
12 rsmitty // Aug 22, 2008 at 8:46 am
It’s Mike Protack.
13 delawaredem // Aug 22, 2008 at 8:48 am
Well, that can be interpreted. You could argue that the runner-up in a close primary with a well known name would not be a surprise. Yes, it would be a surprise to the conventional wisdom, but not to Americans overall.
14 delawaredem // Aug 22, 2008 at 8:49 am
If it’s Protack, I am voting Nader. And I HATE Nader.

“Drink the kool-aid” that’s original…”
Well, you have to admit, this confederacy of sheep is not exactly the bastion of originality. Anyway, I’m just trying to communicate down on your level so you don’t get too confused.

Speak for yourself Mr. “I don’t know what the gun-show loophole is but I’ll pretend I do.”

This from someone who supports Bush.

Hey, who’s going to be McCain’s pick? Oh yeah, who cares?

Did they also report if he went #1 or #2 on the plane?
Wait…a private plane? Isn’t Biden supposed to be our “poor”, low-salary Senator???

I think it is going to be AL GORE!!
And I thought of that on my own and now when it is GORE I’m going to looking like a FREAKING political savant.

“This from someone who supports Bush”
Yeah, I “support” him because I don’t constantly go around screaming “OMG BUSH IS TEH EVIL!”
I’ll be quite happy to see him gone, but I’m not a rampant, seething Bush-hater like some folks here.
Jason - If It’s Gore I’ll buy you a beer, hell I’ll buy you a 6 pack
22 rsmitty // Aug 22, 2008 at 9:20 am
Except I have a time-stamp email to call you a liar.
(I have my reasons for Gore being the off-radar choice, BTW, Jason’s just being, you know, Jason)

Did they also report if he went #1 or #2 on the plane?
I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I’ve ever done a #2 on plane before. Anyone?
24 rsmitty // Aug 22, 2008 at 9:27 am
Neither. I just silently cry in pain.
25 Benjamin // Aug 22, 2008 at 9:53 am
For what is worth the piece in the NYT this morning means it is clearly not Clinton. They wouldn’t have leaked that on the day of an announcement
26 DJK // Aug 22, 2008 at 10:02 am
Nemski, you should probably care, since he’ll/she’ll probably be your next VP.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SOIL YOUR PANTIES!!! HAHAHAHAHA With all the PSH around here, I’m sure it’s a common occurrence.

[...] Today, we may be hearing who Obama’s VP pick will be. There will likely be discussion all day today here at Delaware Liberal. [...]

Obama has announced his choice.

“The third criteria for me I think was independence. I want somebody who is going to challenge my thinking and not simply be a yes person when it comes to policy-making,” he [Obama] said.
We could all be very wrong.
