Bigger scenario?
If Obama wins and picks Joe for VP, or Sec. of State.
Then Carney has the appointment to the U.S. Senate seat.
He will not promote Jack for primarying him, and Beau is forbidden by federal election law to be appointed to the seat.
Rumor I’m hearing is that between election day and When Carney is sworn in (presuming he wins) RAM will appoint herself to the seat to hold it for Beau until he returns from serving our country. Your thoughts?

P.S.
Maybe you could post this as QOD? I’m hearing a strong rumor about this.

If federal law prevents appointing a son – how could it not prevent appointing yourself?
Comment by arthur on 20 August 2008 at 3:45 pm:
If joe biden became vp for 2 terms and then ran for president he would be 74…would he be too old?
Comment by Pandora on 20 August 2008 at 3:48 pm:
VPs running for President is so 2000!

arthur,
Yes.

If Biden is the VP, he will not run for President in 2016.
Comment by delawaredem on 20 August 2008 at 4:03 pm:
Nothing prevents you from appointing yourself to the Senate. But I doubt Minner would do it.
If Minner want to appoint a placeholder, she would appoint Danberg again or someone else.

game over…dumb ass
Comment by arthur on 20 August 2008 at 4:30 pm:
i guess being brilliant means you over think things…my question was will he be too old to run? meaning he will have 46 years of elected experience, and coming off a 46 year old like obama as president, will the trend be for younger presidents?
Comment by Pandora on 20 August 2008 at 4:33 pm:
That’s a different question! I don’t know if there will be a trend toward younger Presidents, but over 70 seems a little old. Maybe because my parents are that age and even they admit that it’s too old.

you get me…I like you now

If Joe Biden is the Vice Presidential nominee, he’ll probably think that he has a good shot against Hillary Clinton for the 2012 Democratic presidential nomination to run against President John McCain.

Jason, nothing prevents him from appointing his son, Beau is barred from being appointed while on active duty.
Comment by David on 20 August 2008 at 10:20 pm:
It will be Tim Kaine not Biden. That is my fearless prediction which is worth nothing but the 30 sec. it took to type it.

National Guard? Minner could have him recalled from active duty, and do the appointment.
