I’m Loving the Bitch Slaps Matt Denn Keeps Laying On Charlie SilverSpoon

Filed in National by on August 13, 2008

Denn is not only going to win, but he might just drive that do nothing loser, Copeland out of politics once and for all.

Wilmington – Matt Denn, Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor, made the following statement in response to Republican Charlie Copeland’s campaign announcement remarks:

“I agree that we need change in Dover. It is something I have successfully fought for over the last four years as Insurance Commissioner, and I will do the same as Lieutenant Governor. Unfortunately, Senator Copeland has been part of the problem in Dover during his six years as a legislator. He has voted against regulating health insurance premiums and against harsher penalties for corporate polluters, just two of the many areas where he opposed important proposals for positive change in Dover.

  1. FSP says:

You’re not going to get change from any member of the Minner-Carney-Markell-Denn administration. Period.

Charlie Copeland fought for change, but each time he was rebuffed by Matt Denn’s friends in the Delaware Senate, who threw the reforms in the desk drawer.

What’s ‘Mandate’ Matt Denn’s excuse for why health insurance is more expensive, more people are uninsured and property insurers are leaving the state?

We now return to our regularly scheduled program, which apparently is Matt Denn talking and talking and talking….

  2. jason,

can we start laying odds on how long it will take Burris to defend Charlie DuPont? We need an over-under of like 2 mins or something.

convenient you shill for your buddies on the blogs just in time for the election. You know, the blogs he mocks Denn reads.

wait, don’t you have your own blog?

  3. FSP says:

So no substantive points to make today, DV?

  4. I think it was a valid point. you came out of your lurking to defend a DuPont heir that is running for office.

He made fun of Denn reading to many blogs.

Yet, here you are MR. BLOG himself shilling for Chuck. why is that? I mean Charlie basically poked fun at you. Why defend him?

  5. FSP says:

He said Matt Denn reads too many blogs, insinuating that bloggers jumped to conclusions and attached motives to his actions that were inaccurate, and Matt passed that off as gospel in his mean-spirited, negative attack.

I agree with him, and I was not one of the bloggers who did that, so I wasn’t offended.

Now Matt Denn is crawling through voting records, looking to twist something Charlie voted on to make him look bad, instead of being a man and taking responsibility for the sad state of insurance in Delaware. And that’s why he’ll lose.

  6. MR. BLOG says:

By the way…MR. BLOG? Is that my title now?

Can we have a fundraiser where people vote for MR. and MRS. BLOG and you fall a wee bit short on that one, too?

  7. sure, you David A, Art can all have a circle jerk at Scooter’s Biker Bar in Sussex. and vote to see who is Mr. Blog.

  8. don’t be jealous that you lack the creative free spirited mind that I have, Dave.

I know you hate being wedded to your party. Being a lap-dog to the real power players. I get it. I pity you.

Some day, when you get your own voice. Maybe you can make a difference in your party and start to actually act on your words instead of just saying them.

  9. MR. BLOG says:

And maybe, someday, when you grow older, you can be hot again. We all have hopes.

  10. MR. BLOG says:

“Some day, when you get your own voice. Maybe you can make a difference in your party and start to actually act on your words instead of just saying them.”

    Naaaaaaah. That would never happen.

  11. anon says:

Game, set, match to Mr. Blog.

  12. Tom S says:

I seriously suggest you meet and talk to people who have worked with Denn in the insurance office the last 4 years, there is very little to like about that man.

  13. Joanne Christian says:

Oh was he our insurance commissioner? I thought he was only running for office the last 18-24mos? You mean we taxpayers have been paying him to run?

  14. FSP says:

Yeah, him. And Carney. And Markell. And Reed.

  15. kavips says:

I’m surprised that no one took on Dave over his comment.

Charlie Copeland fought for change, but each time he was rebuffed by Matt Denn’s friends in the Delaware Senate, who threw the reforms in the desk drawer.

When in fact, according to Dana at Delaware Watch, Charlie Copeland fought against open government by supporting Thurman Adams, and delivering 6 Republican votes towards keeping Senator “Desk Drawer” Adams in charge of the Senate. (His attempts to paint himself as supporting open government pail in comparison to this deed.)

    Just sayin’….

  16. Brian says:

Breaking news: Get ready for more resignations to begin soon.

  17. FSP says:

Contrary to popular opinion and revisionist history, there was only one candidate for Pro Tem, so the choice was easy.

And I wouldn’t recommend starting anything with “according to Dana over at Delaware Watch.”

  18. jason330 says:

Great catch Kavips, except Denn can’t really go around saying, “My opponent voted for Adams!”

    Brian –

Don’t be coy. We already have one Sonambulo

  19. kavips says:

Good thing I didn’t say Atkins….. but we don’t want to bring up Charlie’s support for a certain party-switching legislator who was facing a cataclysmic series of personal problems…..

  20. Another Mike says:

It shouldn’t have mattered how many candidates there were for pro tem, Copeland should not have delivered any votes for that piece of shit Adams. What they could have delivered was a message to Senate Dems that the old way was not their way, but they chose not to do that.

  21. kavips says:

Perhaps …Charlie was counting on getting state wide support by running against the Democrat Senate’s poor performance… fully expecting the closed drawer to become a campaign issue

He would not have had any chance of doing so had Peterson been in that seat……

    Just an FYI.

  22. Paul Falkowski says:

I have observed Matt Denn personally at many different community meetings over the last 4 years. He usually brings his kids.
I find the character assassination of this man to be reprehensible. Fighting language.
