Links?

Filed in National by on July 29, 2008

Such a nice night. I think I’ll take a trip around the block and see who is linking to us.

First but not least Mike Matthews who was enjoying Al Mascitti vs. Liz Allen maybe a bit too much.

We are also linked to Delawarecurmudgeon who says…

Speaking of Tommywonk, don’t forget the fundraiser organized by Delaware Liberal to help with his expenses in attending as Delaware’s Official Blogger to the convention. All you need to do is show up at Catherine Rooney’s at around 7:30 PM this Thursday, 7/31, in order to cast your vote (I believe each vote requires a $5.00 donation) for Delaware’s Hottest Blogger.

I really don’t care who Delaware’s Hottest Blogger is; I just want to contribute what will be an admittedly paltry sum to Tommywonk’s travel fund so maybe he can sneak out and get himself some really delicious trans-fat induced donut (if he can find one) in Denver next month.

And Sharon (who knew she had a blog?) at Gold Plated Bitch on Wheels, who says DelawareLiberal is evil or something. I’m not sure to be honest. We are linked in the middle of a sentence and I don’t get the meaning (if one was intended.)

Then there is Kavips who thinks that in the absence of a bad guy like Harris McDowell trying to scuttle a Wind Power Deal, the Delaware blogosphere is a bit fragmented these days …aaaaaand that maybe we are a bit obsessed with who is Delaware’s hottest blogger …aaaaaand trying too hard to make “Adgate” reverberate. In his (her?) words…

In a detached way it almost seems like we are sifting too hard, forcing out controversies in otherwise everyday occurrences, then fanning the flames, just because we have too little to argue about…

Steve Newton at Delaware Libertarian who has a nearly impossible post up that ends up agreeing with Pandora that…

“Unconditional compassion doesn’t exist.” She’s right: it doesn’t.
Yet it should–and I find it a worthwhile goal to strive for

God bless high aspirations.

If you read you might have comprehended why I linked to you. The link was in a sentence regarding those who want to blame others (such as conservative talk radio) for the tragedy in Knoxville. The point wasn’t whether DL is evil; it’s that the responsibility for that tragedy lie with the person who pulled the trigger, not authors.

  2. mike w. says:

Well liberals as a whole aren’t big supporters of personal responsibility. Kudos to Sharon for pointing out yet another example of that attitude.

  3. Pandora says:

Like conservatives don’t blame “Godlessness” for society’s failings. Ooh… or MTV and video games.
    And let’s not forget gays.

  4. Sharon says:

My point, Pandora, was not a conservative-good-liberal-bad one. It was that blaming talk radio, which has an audience of millions, for the actions of one shooter is silly.

“blaming talk radio, which has an audience of millions, for the actions of one shooter is silly.”

Blaming anyone but the shooter is flatout silly.

What is fun about watching this go on is that you simply have to make up what Jason’s original point of that post was in order to make your arguments. He was not blaming talk radio for the shooting — in fact he specifically noted that they were not — but he was questioning the hyperviolent attitude that talk radio does have towards liberals (and anyone else who does not agree with them) for poisoning the atmosphere.

Not that I’m expecting that you’d read this honestly, either.

    Cassandra,

I didn’t make up anything about Jason’s post. I linked to the post–which contained the thread–where the culpability of talk radio was discussed. And then I refuted the claim that, somehow, it is Sean Hannity’s fault that a guy decided to try to shoot up a church. The fault lies with the shooter, who, evidently, and long-standing animosity to liberals, Christians, gays, and his ex-wife (not necessarily in that order). But please be sure to use this same logic the next time some nut with a Koran decides to take out some people.
