Stevens is running for re-election this year too and his Dem opponent is a very strong candidate.

I think it’s 60 seats to be fillibuster-proof and 75 seats to be veto proof, but I’m sure somebody here will correct me if I’m wrong.

Politicians aren’t generally good at following their own rules or laws……. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he continued to serve.

Begich, the mayor of Anchorage I believe, had an eight point lead in the most recent poll against Stevens. Perhaps a point bump for each indictment.
