Blackmail!

There is no other word for it. The Bush administration is now threatening the Iraqi’s with denying access to $50,000,000,000 in the Federal Reserve if they don’t agree to US occupation indefinitely. This is the stick that Bush is using to coerce the Iraqis to commit to the plan that I posted yesterday.

The threat by the American side underlines the personal commitment of President George Bush to pushing the new pact through by 31 July. Although it is in reality a treaty between Iraq and the US, Mr Bush is describing it as an alliance so he does not have to submit it for approval to the US Senate.

The Senate needs to step in. We need to grow some cajones and tell Bush that we will not stand for it any longer. This administration has undermined the stature of the United States for the past 7+ years and they are doing their damnedest to start the next President in a hole.  I just have to marvel at the ability of this administration to circumvent, neuter and ignore the Constitution.  It really is unprecedented.

  1. FYI to you guys thinking congress will be able to stop this…

The pact, which Bush has said he does not intend to submit for Congressional approval, would take effect shortly before he leaves office. Reversing it, while possible, would force a future president to break an international commitment.

Yeah. Sort of like Bush and the Kyoto Protocol.

    From the movie Parenthood:

It’s like your Aunt Edna’s ass, it goes on forever and gets scarier all the time.

Geek, wait to you hear the part about the fact that question they asked of State Department Employees and potential ones, “If you want to go to Iraq to help the US, do you beleive in abortion?”

“No” means a good salary, and a really good job there or here.

“Yes” means a smiting with the rod of Pastor Hagee and Joe Liberman. And being forced out of office.

  6. liberalgeek says:

Yeah, it reminds me of “Imperial Life in the Emerald City.” The only requirement for being able to help out in Iraq was a blind allegiance to BushCo. The entire thing was props and cutout storefronts.

And here I thought all along that there was no real government oversight exerted on the privately-held unconstitutional Federal Reserve Bank.

Phew. What a relief to discover it is not in fact a useful tool for the ulterior agendas of people who have little regard for much rest of the Constitution either….oh wait scratch that.

Another moment in US political history! Ungh.

Who actually believes all that Iraqi money is still in the Federal Reserve? Dont forget George H. Bush kept their money from the 1992 invasion…with interest….humm….is that counted in the $50,000,000,000 figure?

If the repukes were handing out millions in Iraq, paying off both sides (sounds like Prescott Bush and Hitler)….and the missing $3 trillion from the Pentagon….who actually believes there is a dime of Iraqi money in the Fed….come on.

I guess the rebuilding of an destroyed soverign nation, could use that money for rebuilding, but knowing the Bushits…they will claim that they are keeping the money, because we rid them of Saddam Hussein….the cost of getting rid of a tyrant is……huh, $50,000,000,000!
